Whose Side Is Thee On

"Of course I do." Nestor said confidently, then told the driver to head North. During the whole trip speed didn't exceed 50 (miles) as they traveled on the Interstate. Then an amusement park appeared before them. Nestor paid the driver before leading Alice to the ticket booth.

"Whoa," she said, looking through the booth at the amusement park. "It's way bigger than I was expecting."

"I know." Nestor stepped forward in the line and asked for two tickets. Then once they acquired it they walked through the front gate. "Which ride do you wanna try first?"

"Hmm..." She looked around, spotted the biggest and most terrifying-looking ride, and pointed at it, grinning. "Go big or go home, right?"

"Definitely." Nestor led her to the ride, where they were strapped to the same "cage" thingy. Then it started up. The cage was tossed into the air, before it was thrown back down, about five centimeters from the ground. It happened for about a dozen times, before the game ended and Nestor leaned on Alice, staggering as he got out.

Alice laughed as Nestor staggered out of the ride; she was feeling a little queasy herself, but perhaps it was her father's blood keeping her from getting too sick. "You alright there?"

"Yeah. Motion sickness." Nestor felt like the world was spinning. This was going to leave repercussions later on. "Honestly I preferred the water park." he said, trying not to throw up.

She looked concerned. "Sorry," she said, helping him over to a bench. "You should've said, we could've gone there instead. Hey, that rhymed."

Nestor laughed. "Totally fine. After all they offer refunds base on the amount of games you play. Wanna head to that water park instead?" he offered.

She nodded, her smile returned. "Sure!" She had been to one of those, but the fans had showed up, as they always did. It was a miracle they hadn't found out about her.

It was one of the attempts her mother liked to make at being a "proper family". In general, they meant sitting in the back of a car with no common subjects at all to talk about, arriving at an over-expensive tourist spot of some kind and being chased out by fans after about half an hour. If she was lucky.

But nevermind. This was going to be a good outing. This was going to be a good day. She was determined. And so far, it was going well.

Nestor got his refjnd from the ticket booth. As soon as he tucked the money into his pocket, he wrapped his fingers around Alice's hand and dragged her to the entrance, where they called for a taxi. The cab drove a fww miles East, before a big water park came into sight. Nestor led Alice through the entrance and bought two tickets.

It wasn't the same park - of course it wasn't, she didn't even think they were in the same country. "Okay, now you can pick where to go first."

"First, we gotta change. You know, since this is a water park, we should be in swimsuits, right?" Nestor said. "Or if we go like this we can go home soaking wet."

"Oh, right, that," she said, having forgotten. "The genius of Athena kids."

The two of them parted to get changed (and since they didn't bring swimsuits in advance he simply told Alice to buy one, handing her some cash. Then when they reunited, Nestor woee swimming trunks, and a tank top. "Ready?"

She nodded and smiled, wearing a hastily bought blue swimsuit that was slightly too small. "Yup."

The two of them climbed up a dozen steps up a metal staircase, until they reached the top of a ride, which rose a few meters from the ground. It was a ride on a tire-like life buoy, which went in a tube down into a pool. Worst part was it went in circles, which could make a weak minded individual throw up. The two of them mounted one of the tires. Nestor grabbed Alice's hand. "Pardon me if I throw up. But it wouldn't be on you. Most likely."

"It better not be," she said, only half joking. "Aim over the side, if you please." With her free hand she grabbed the tire with a grip like iron.

The tire came down at tremendous speed. Nestor felt sick and almost threw up, but eventually they made it down to the pool waiting for them at the bottom. Both of them were toppled off the ride. "Thank the gods I didn't throw up."  he laughed, rising from the cold water surface.

She laughed, slowly getting to her feet. "Now, that would've kinda ruined the moment." Once she was up, she looked around. "What next?"

Nestor pointed to a ramp-like ride, which rose at least five meters from the ground. "That one." He said. "Hopefully I remain non-nauseous."

She stopped. "You know, you don't have to go on the rides if you don't want to. I don't want to, you know, pressure you into anything."

"I'm joking." He chuckled. "That ride back there was fine by me. I'm messing with ya. Except for the coaster, it WAS nauseous. Now c'mon. Our we'll miss the ride." Nestor nudged

She rolled her eyes. "I'm gonna get you back for that, Layman. Just you wait."

"You won't. Trust me." Nestor laughed, while leading Alice up the staircase to the ride. When they made it to the top, Nestor mounted on the ramp, and the two of them slid down.
