An excursion

OOC: Time skip

Chase opened his eyes and looked around. As he expected, he was in a hospital bed. Was anyone around? He didn't know yet. He was laying there, staring around the corners of his eyes. He couldn't quite move yet. He twitched his hand and moaned a little.

"How long was I out?" he asked, each syllable making him have a pained expression. "Is Aselyn OK?"

Aselyn first. Always. Aselyn first.

She smiled " about four days, She's fine, she was very brave, better then I was " She said her voice shaky. There were circles aroud her eyes, she'd stayed up the past four nights, just to make sure.

"I'm sorry... I couldn't control my anger... Couldn't scare her. Couldn't risk it," Chase said. "She'd hate me if she saw. Claws, sharp teeth... Like an animal."

He used his thumb to stroke her hand. "You look tired."

"I'm sorry I worried you," he said. He squeezed hand. "I tried to calm down. It wasn't happening."

"Do you think I can get discharged any time soon?" Chase asked her. "I need to see Aselyn. I need to know she's OK. I mean, now. I doubt she's been to visit me much. Dad wouldn't let me visit him when I was younger either. I doubt he'd treat his grandchild any different."

He nodded and got changed (when she wasn't looking) and they left.

She grabbed her purse and followed him

He walked slowly, unable to move quickly after four days of unconsciousness. He stayed near Ophelia. He caught them a cab and rested when they were inside. "Thank you," he said to her.

He reached for her hand. "I mean it."

His brown eyes caught sight of her and he leaned in, closing his eyes a little until- BUMP! The taxi hit a pot hole in the road and he was thrown back a little. He acted like it was what he was aiming for. Looking away, he knitted his eyebrows in confusion. He looked back, composed.

She almost laughed outright but didn't want to seem rude. Her mind drifted back to before camp and she thought about John, what was he doing right now ?. She quickly threw it to the back of her mind, she knew that it was stupid to dwell on something, the past was the past wasn't it and she needed to focus on the future.

"Uhm... So... Any... relationships at the moment?" Chase asked awkwardly.

" Hmmm Well I have one, you see he has a little girl that is absolutely adorable " Ophelia teased

Chase frowned for a moment until it dawned upon him that- "Me?" he asked, his eyes wide and shining.

He leaned back for a moment, stunned. The looked ahead to the road and then to Ophelia. Leaning in, he kissed her gently before backing up a little.

"She likes you," Chase shrugged, "I doubt she'll really care."
