Joseph nodded. "Yeah, my other friends use the hotspot too. That way we can talk to each other without actually being in each other's presence. But I guess that's the point of cell phones."

"And computers and PDAs and smoke signals." Kendall nodded affirmatively, rolling a stone underneath her shoe.

Joseph nodded slowly. "Um, yeah, I guess those too." He said, skipping a rock against the top of the creek.

With the conversation dead again, Kendall sighed and kicked the rock towards a log lying on the ground six feet from where she was standing. It fell short two feet; she swore softly to herself.

Joseph checked his phone for the time. He put it in his pocket. "So, Kendall, you like camp?" He asked, swinging the stick around.

"Oh, it's decent when you know the right people. Smart ones, that don't act like total idiots." Kendall glanced up at the sky, noticing it was getting dark. Curfew would be in two or three hours.

Joseph nodded. "Yeah, it's alright here. Met some cool people, others not so cool."

"Yeah, happens everywhere. Try to stay where there are people around, too many murders happening." Kendall yawned, stepping up to the water and dipping in the toe of her shoe.

Joseph smirked at the statement. "Yep, that is true. All in the life of a demigod, I suppose."

"Happens to everybody, I guess; we're just more susceptible to being crushed by boulders and torn open by harpies." Kendall withdrew her foot from the water.

He nodded. "Yeah, us demigods are super vulnerable. Mortal and godly weapons can kill us. That just makes everything way easier." He said, sarcastically.

"Well, we've got ADHD battle instincts to help us... I guess?" Kendall frowned across the creek. ADHD wasn't really a good thing at times, it probably wouldn't be considered good now either.

Joseph shrugged. "Meh, that doesn't help too much." He said, stomping on a bug. "Dyslexia doesn't help us at all either. It's as if the universe hates us and is trying everything it can to kill us."

Kendall chuckled, glancing back at the other demigod. "We're screwed over just for being born the children of the gods. That's how much the gods love us."

Joseph nodded. "Meh, some of us get cool powers. You have any?"

"Some sorta... frenzy thing, I guess? I don't know what it does exactly. I just get insanely mad, try to kill everything, get a strength boost. Pretty fun until I faint from exhaustion."

Joseph nodded slowly. "Sounds fun. And especially powerful. I would hate to be on the opposite side of your team." He chuckled, hearing his phone buzz. He checked it then put it back in his jean pocket.

"Yeah. My accuracy's not so good though, I usually end up missing by three inches." Kendall rubbed her forehead with her fingers, sighing. She hadn't used her power in a long time -- she was rarely so mad anymore.

Joseph coughed. "Well I suppose so, but I've seen Clarisse go berserk a couple of times. In the Titan War she did that, I believe. She was glowing all red and just killing monsters left and right. It was so sick." He replied, with great gusteu. He pulled the buzzing phone out of his pocket, tapping rapidly on the touch screen. After a couple of seconds of rapid typing he locked the phone, shoving it back into his pocket. "But the fainting from exhaustion thing must kinda suck." He added, wiping some dirt onto the bottom of his shirt. "I've got powers of my own, but I barely use them." He explained.

"During the last battle she got our dad's blessing. Pretty big boost, if you ask me -- I'd like to kill Drakons by myself." Kendall shrugged nonchalantly; she was sort of jealous, but then again, it was Clarisse -- Clarisse, who'd just lost her unlikely best friend to an overgrown venomous snake over a petty chariot fight. At least, that was what Kendall remembered; she'd intentionally kept the cabin from fighting in the war (in an Achilles sort of way) over her cabin not getting a chariot for a prize, and then Selena or whatever her name was had taken her armor and died in battle disguised as Clarisse. Sad, really; Kendall had heard Selena/Silena/whatever was a pretty good counselor. Better than that Drew girl, anyway. "What kind of powers do you have?"

Joseph nodded softly. "Yeah, I miss Silena." He picked up his phone, getting a text from Blaze. watch out out there. Some crazy girl that murders and eats campers is somewhere in camp. Be warned. Joseph squinted at the bizarre text. "A girl.. that eats campers?" The idea was so crazy, yet he believed it. This camp was pretty messed up. "Oh, I can grow some weird poison berries and summon some skeletons. I guess I got the more Underworld part of my mother." He shrugged slightly.
