Annabeth's bunk

I ran in and locked myself in the bathroom.My hands were still bloody from the surgery.And for a strange reason,they were also shaking.I started washing them,the blood leaving but not that feeling.As I stared at myself through the mirror,my wide eyes noticed some blood on my clothes too.I quikly took them off and threw them away.Grabbing a towel from under the sink,I sat in the shower in my underwear and let the water run all over me as I hugged my knees to my chest and started shaking at the corner.

James is outside of the fourth cohort barrack. He had already checked the other three looking for Annabel. He had to thank her for saving his life. He sighs at the bottom of the stairs, they suck on crutches. Once he reached the top he knocked on the door and stuck his head in, "Hello? Is Annabel here? I need to talk to her."

Since I had closed the water and the place was empty,I could easily hear the voice calling me.Was it James?"Coming,just a minute"I called back and wrapped a towel around my shaking,shivering body.I had probably been under the water for too long.I unlocked the door and walked out,to find out it was really James."What are you doing here?You should be at the hospital,getting better"I said confused

"I'm feeling fine, only my right leg won't respond." He sat down on a bed next to the door resting his crutches on the floor. "I'm not dying anymore and that's why I'm here. To say thanks. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. You saved my life, I am forever in your debt." James smiled gratefully. And to add emphasis a little bow.

I looked down and blushed,smiling slightly."I-It's nothing...It's Devlin you should thank,without him,I'd have failed...I'm glad you are alive,that way I'll be able to beat you again and again...I'll be back in a second"I said,grabbed some clothes,and walked back to the bathroom

"I might be a little while before you get that chance, sweetheart." James joked, "Who knows how long my leg will be like this." He picked it up and dropped it. The leg fell on the bed, bounced twice then laid still. "And Devlin, we wouldn't let one of us die. We have known each other since we started camp." Annabel took some clothes and went into the bathroom. James sat there and tried to move his leg but with no result.

I quickly walked back to the room in black jeans and shirt."Yeah,well...It's always good to have someone you can count on....Your leg will be fine,some physicotherapy would help."I explained and smiled at him.

"I think some blood just needs to get to my leg." James said rubbing his thigh. "You said earlier, when we were at the Field of Mars, that you didn't have many friends to count on. No more, Devlin and I will always be there to help you out. I am proud to call you my friend." James smiled again and held out his hand.

I grinned and took his hand,pulling him to me for a hug."Thank you.I owe you too now"I laughed and rested my face on his shoulder.After a minute I let him go and sat back to my bunk."Sorry...Your surgery made me remember stuff..."I murmured with an apologetic smile

When she hugged him, James sat there shocked for a second. It occurred to him that she was thanking him. Hesitantly he hugged her back. When she let go he smiled back.

"I hope what you remembered wasn't too bad." James said, "I don't want you feeling bad because of me."

I blushed and looked down."N-no,i-it was...um...I-it was okay..."I stammered quickly."Does Devlin know you left the infirmary or not?"I asked to change the subject
