When Dreams Become Reality Empty When Dreams Become Reality

*I do talk about this weird creature thing and stuff in this, not sure if its scary or not and uh, Readers beware, you're in for a scareee << lol <3*

She was in the woods, and it was dark and cold. That much she knew. What she didnt know was as she stumbled along, The creature was right behind her, stalking her, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Melody's head pounded. She felt as though her brain was about to explode from the awful migraine she had. "[CENSORED] this," she groaned. She struggled to see, her already impaired eyes fighting to catch and take in whatever light they could. She'd had a flashlight but it died about a half mile back. The girl stopped, and closed her eyes, then opened them. "God Im an idiot. Im a damn fool," she muttered to herself. Her voice carried through the night. She reached in her pocket for her phone. "Really?" she complained. "The one time Im lost I freaking lose it. She started walking again. "It aint like the sun'll be up soon. Its like, midnight," she was talking to herself. She always did that when she felt scared or alone. Goosebumps appeared on her bare arms as she heard a twig snap. "Oh [CENSORED]," she muttered, spinning around. "Typical scary movie. Lost girl at night, twig snaps, then shes on the news the next day." she said to herself. She didnt want to go cliche and call out 'who's there?' but..,"Who's there?" she called, her voice quivering. She back up a step, and bumped into a tree. She jumped, and spun around. She shook her head. "Damnit Melody. Get yourself together and get out of here. Do you wanna get married and have kids? Ha. No, but you do want to live," she told herself as she slowly started to make her way out of the woods, never noticing her stalker.

It was as if her life had sped forward. She was on an old country road, going for a jog. She had her earbuds in, some country song blaring. One foot then the other lightly touched the pavement. Her ponytail swinging back and forth. Her breathing wasn't labored, but nice, slow. Easy. She was calm, in her element. Along the road, there was the dark woods. No one knew about the creatures that lurked there, so it never crossed Melody's mind that something could be watching her, especially not in her small town. In Rock Creek, nothing bad ever really happened, so of course Melody was allowed out to run. The sun shone brightly, catching her blonde hair, and making it gleam like gold. Suddenly, her music stopped playing. She slowed to a walk then a stop and pulled out her phone. Dead, like always. She shrugged and pulled the earbuds out and stuffed them in her pocket along with her phone. She resumed her running. She didnt know how much longer later, but it couldnt have been long, that she thought heard a voice. "Melody," it called, the word drawn out softly, eerily. Her running slowed, and she turned her head to the woods. Nothing, of course. She laughed at herself, and her speed picked up. A while later, there it was again. "Melody," it called, the word drawn out softly, eerily. She stopped, and turned her whole body to face the woods. "Who's there?" she called out, her voice shaking slightly. No answer. She shook her head, as if to clear the awful voice. "[CENSORED] this, Im goin' home." she said to herself, and turned around. As she started jogging home, the creature was right behind her.

Melody stood in her kitchen, confused about the time gap, slowly becoming aware that she was getting her life in pieces. The kitchen was dimly lit, so she switched on a light, illuminating the room. She stood on her tip toes and looked out the kitchen window. Bother cars were gone, so her parents and brother must be out. She shrugged it off. She cranked up the radio, blasting Cruise by Florida Georgia Line. As she sang along, she pulled out a pan and some pancake mix. She turned the stove on and set the pan down on it. As she went through the process if making her pancakes, she never heard the door open the shut softly. It was sitting at the table, watching her. It was ready. So ready. It had lost so many perfect opportunities, and here was the perfect one. No one would ever know. Melody stacked her three pancakes on her plate, coated them in syrup, got the fork, and turned around. She saw it there, sitting, watching, smiling an awful smile. She screamed, and her plate crashed to the floor.

Melody jolted upright, clutching her blankets. "Holy [CENSORED]," she muttered, looking around her dark room. She reached over with trembling fingers and turned her lamp on. She was sweating, terrified. "It was only a dream," she said to herself. She slid out of bed, her barefeet touching the cold, hardwood floor. She peered out her window that looked out into her driveway. "Huh. Both cars are gone," she said, not making the connection. "I think Im in the mood for some pancakes," Melody said. She danced out of her room, not noticing the strange dark corner that should have been lit....
