Hey, this character was already made about a year back, to be my first character on this site, but after noticing the new detailed option for character sheets, and after reading the rules, I decided to remake it in that format to add a bit more "flavor", to my character :)
I hope it is acceptable :P
Name: Dez Blue-His real name is unknown, as he was never given one by his true mother. When he was found by the man and woman who became his adopted parents, they named him Dez after their own deceased son, and he took their family name, Blue.
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race/ethnicity: Canada, but his mother hails from Cardiff in Wales, where she grew up, but had to move to America to try and escape her abusive boyfriend and his gang, who beat her up daily. Anybody who didn't know him would look at him and think he was Canadian straight away
Skin Tone: Fairly pale, due to growing up in a cold environment, but due to spending a lot of time in Camp Half-Blood, where the sun is frequent, his skin has darkened a fair amount to become a tanned shade of white.
Eye Color: Darkest black.
Hair Color: Dez’s hair color used to be a very pale blonde, to the point where it looked silver, but after the lengthy amount of time he has lived as a shadow, for some reason it has turned to black, as if like a Raven’s feathers.
Hair Length: Rather short, but messy and untamed.
Height: 6”0
Weight: 165lbs
Body Type: Lean, and reasonably muscular due to most of his young life consisting of hard manual labor.
Mortal Parent: Sarah Cravendar
Godly Parent: Thanatos, the Greek God of Death
Place of Birth: Unknown, no one knows, for those who did are all dead. Even Dez himself does not know.
Date of Birth: The exact date is unknown, but it was April 1998.
Weapon: A Celestial Bronze scythe, which he has disguised magically as an hourglass pendant which hangs around his neck, ready to be used whenever the need occurs.
Armor: Dez wears no armor, except the cloth and fabric in the daily clothes he wears, e.g. shirt, hoody, combat jeans.
Powers: Dez possesses the strange ability to be able to foresee the death of any other mortal, simply by making skin contact with them. However, with more time being spent at Camp Half-Blood, he has learnt to have control over this, which means, if he can avoid it, he never tries to view anyone’s demise.
More recently- during his first and only quest to destroy a demon which plagued the life of one his sisters (by the name of Olivia), who he is very close with- he has learnt a variation of shadow travel, which is rather peculiar in his experience of it. Whereas most demigods who possess this ability use it to travel long distances, Dez can only really use it for speedy short distance travel, normally in a 200 meter radius. If he ever, even by accident, goes over this limit, it tires him beyond what his body can take, and he can become dizzy, or even fall unconscious for a day or more. Although, the benefit of this is he can travel within that radius much more, the amount of times being about 15 a day, if he goes without any form of rest. However, if Dez goes through a substantial period of rest, as like a minimum amount of 1 hour, it can reset the count, as he is well rested and refreshed.
At the end of the previously mentioned quest, Dez came under a rather serious condition, after he tried to wield the power of a certain orb the Demon had been carrying. This orb had been used to store the power of the Demon, and in certain cases, to wield it as a terrifying weapon. However, it was not really meant for the use of a mere demigod, so after he had used it, it expelled shadows which consumed his entire body, but rather strangely they turned him into a shadow, instead of killing him. The reason for this remains unknown, but even though he found a way to return to normal, sometimes parts of his body will randomly turn to shadow, and can remain like this for an unknown period of time. Perhaps with time he can come to control this, but for now it remains a rather large hassle.
Pets: Dez does not possess any pets, and he does not intend to come under the possession of any, for he thinks of them as trouble.
Skills/Talents: Because of the rather muscular and body, Dez’s fitness allows him to be able to run for quite long distances, and go through other physical stress without much hard effect on his ability. He has also found himself to be a rather capable blades-man, after training with one of his half-brothers called Zane.
Flaws: Dez’s life has been full of woe and sorrow, and it has had a rather large impact. He is rather solemn, and can appear rather depressive to people who do not know him well. Death also terrifies him, due to his certain experiences with it. He also possesses vertigo, which can be very detrimental. One other thing which can serve as a strength as well, is that he is extremely loyal to those who have earned his trust, which can however mean he could be put into very difficult situations due to this loyalty. His physical flaw is his current ailment of shadow, the fact that at random parts of his body could turn to shadow, meaning that if he was in the middle of a fight and his left arm decided to turn itself to shadow, he would drop his weapon, leaving him defenseless.
Strengths: One of his strengths is the aforementioned loyalty to his comrades. Dez is also very brave, and will never back down in a fight, no matter what the odds, even if this will put him closer to the concept of death, which terrifies him. Another thing is he is very cunning, which was shown in the quest where he managed to earn the Demons trust, enough so that he could pretend to capture his friends to get them right up close and personal with it.
Weaknesses: Dez has never been that good with people, having lived mainly in solitude for so long, as well as the fact he seems depressed most of the time.
Fears: He has a fear of death, and also of the undead, due to meeting his undead mother once, which had lasting effects on him afterwards. Not only does the concept of heights turn his head into a swirling mess, but is also scares the living daylights out of him, just for this is the way he was born.
Personality: Seems rather depressive most of the time, but can be happy and friendly to people who he gets to know. Another thing is that he is very complex, and can sometimes be unpredictable, as shown when his friends didn't trust him during the recent quest, enough so that he “died” (was turned to shadow).
Accent/Dialect: His accent is strongly Canadian, but those with fine-tuned ears can notice the slight Welsh tuning in it.
Likes: Friends, and more importantly, he treasures the new family he has at Camp Half-Blood, and would fight so not to lose them.
Dislikes: The cruelties of life, no matter how big, or how small, as he has seen quite a lot of them in the short life has had. Also, he holds no respect for the Gods, for he believes they are wrong in not allowing Godly parents to interfere in the lives of their children, even if it means the child suffers for it. He has experienced this himself.
Social Status (e.g. loner, popular): Not very well known, for he has a close ring of friends who he generally sticks around, or by himself sometimes.
Appearance: Dez is rather attractive, mainly for his muscular, fit body. He has long legs, and rather lengthy arms also, with both upper and lower body strength. His body does seem fairly proportional however, due to his tallness. His face seems shaped rather like a curved diamond, but which is rather more flat at the top, and his nose is not too big, and his lips not too small. His eyes are black, but they hold intrigue, so someone could just stare into them for hours to get a sense of the mystery inside. Dez’s face often shows no emotion however, which is why he can be mistaken for being depressed. His hair is Raven black, spiky and messy, but fits the rest of his body rather nicely. You will nearly always see him wearing his usual combat jeans and hoody on top, as well as the finger-less leather gloves he often wears.
Summer or Year Rounder: Dez is a year rounder, for he has no other home to go to.
Years at Camp: Dez is approaching being at Camp Half-Blood for 2 years though, even though he arrived when he was 13 (time passes much faster when he was a shadow, so when in real life only a month had passed, for Dez it had been 3 years, which was how long he spent being a shadow, until he finally became “cured”).
Life Before CHB: He was found in Canada alone in a shack, freezing cold and near to death. He was taken in by an old couple with no children of their own, and taken care of until he was 12 and near his 13th birthday. All this time he had been a spooked child, always haunted by a vision of what he had seen when he was first touched by his adopted parents. The day before his 13th birthday, he had gone out to a nearby town to shop for food with his parents. A robbery occurred in one of these shops, and his parents were shot for refusing to comply with the robbers wishes. He was almost killed as well when he took a shot to the gut, but something extraordinary happened. He was somehow blessed when a sign appeared above his head, and he felt the strangest he had ever felt. The wound healed by itself, and the robbers were astounded and scared. They ran, shouting something about "the messiah". He ran from the scene
He immediately felt that there was somewhere he had to be, so after he had stocked up on supplies, he left for the camp, determined to get there by any means, and to also forget about his past life, as he was beginning anew.
Role-playing Example: It had all happened so fast, I hadn't even completely noticed what was happening. But then I saw, Dallas… Ella… they were dead. They had to be, for they were limp on the floor, lying in a pool of their own blood. Suddenly, I felt something penetrate the flesh around my stomach, and I looked down to see my own blood seeping from the wound the bullet had made. Mixed with sadness from the definite death of my parents who I had grown to love for all these years, and with the pain penetrating me from my injury, I slumped forward onto my knees, with an almost unnoticeable pain compared to the bullet wound. I knew that I was surely about to die. I let the darkness creep forward, but it never came. Instead the pain simply stayed, leeching around my entire body. Then… it started to fade away. I looked up, and saw a mark appearing above my head, just stuck in the air right above me. I couldn't make it out however, for my eyes had gone blurry, and I was starting to feel whoozy, even though I could strangely feel my wound healing. The robbers ran, and I cried. My life would surely never be the same. I had to run. I just had to survive.
Notes: Sorry, I can’t really think of anything else to add, except to mention again this character has already been made, I just wanted to remake the sheet to add a bit more detail
I hope it is acceptable :P
