The Sandy Beach

Raiden looke at her with his ever-changing eyes. When he looked at her, he always felt something in his stomach. A type of fluttering. He frowned and looked back at the sky. That was silly---Sam was his bestfriend. Plus, he was pretty sure that she only thought of him as a friend anyway. This is ridiculous. Raiden sat up so that his feet touched the soft sand of the ocean, which was easy because of his height. He looked at Sam sheepishly. "C-can I tell you something?" He asked nervously, eyes settling with a pale blue.

Raiden moistened his lips and looked down at the glimmering water. "Well, I....um..."

"I...was wondering...if you wanted to maybe grab something to...eat after this?" Raiden offered. Oh, wonderful. He choked.

Raiden bit his lip and smiled sweetly. Maybe he hadn't messed up just yet. "Cool." He laughed some and continued floating on his back.

Sam got up and splashed raiden, she giggled slightly.

"Hey!" He complained, laughing. Raiden scooped up a load of water and splashed Sam in return.

Raiden quickly puffed his cheeks up in a breath and dived underwater before the water could hit him. Smiling to himself, he grabbed Sam's waist and pulled her under.

Raiden returned her smile shyly and looked down at the ocean floor. He was never the best with eye contact, even before he went blind in one. Raiden blushed slightly and tried to stay focused on a tiny crab scuttling around.

Sam swam back to the surface and blushed.

Raiden stayed down there for as long as his lungs would allow, but eventually had to come back up for air. He broke the serene calmness of the surface, breathig heavily. He had planned to just tell her right then and there, but had chickened out twice. He finally just puffed up his chest and turned to face her.

Quickly, before he could freak out too much, Raiden scooped Sam gently in his arms and placed a delicate kiss on her lips. He pulled back....and immediately regretted it. "Oh, gods, what was I thinking? I'm so sorry." He muttered, fisted his hands in his hair and feeling guilty.

Raiden slowly sank back below the sea. Drowning would be nice about now.

His eyes widened in surprise. Raiden smiled and pointed for Sam to come up, floating back to the top himself.

Raiden gnawed on his lip until it was raw. "I....uh..." I should have waited til dinner. He finished silently. That would have at least made it less awkward.

Sam turned to raiden."raiden I really like you... I just didn't know how to tell you."
