Malecai leisurely walked up the hill with a few textbooks in his hand. He had planned on trying to start school up again next year since his time in Italy kind of...sucked. Plus, he'd probably get bumped a grade since he was the super genius your mother always wanted you to be.

He sat down at the base of the pine tree with the Golden Fleece dangling nearby, a history book cracked open on his lap. From his backpack that he always had handy, the 16-year-old pulled out a fruit punch Kool-Aid juice pouch and a pack of gummy bears and began to study. What? He needed his brain food.

Marina walked up the grassy hill, twidling her dark brown hair in between her index and middle finger. She had just finnished her math finals and was extremely tired. From behind a tree, Marina could see a glimpse of her boyfriendy thing or something. She wasn't even sure what he was. Oy, relationships. She crept up behind him and covered his eyes, "Boo." She said, smiling widely.

Malecai jumped in surprise, choking on a gummy bear momentarily. After his breathing was under control and his heart stopped pumping so violently, he smiled and touched the back of the hands over his eyes.

"I bet you ten bucks it's Batman." He guessed with a raised eyebrow. Malecai gripped Marina's wrists gently and pulled her in front of him.

"You are an excellent guesser." Marina joked. She laughed as she plopped down in front of him. She smiled, retying her bow on the side of her shorts. It was awkward wearing shorts. She's been wearing jeans all year. But Mr. D. is so nice that he decides to make today one of the hottest days of the year.

"Thanks, I play Jeopardy." Malecai laughed. It was good seeing Marina, his girlfriend...friend that was a girl...very close friend...awkward friendship in which both thought the other was attractive. All of the labels gave Malecai a headache, honestly. He needed to hurry up and set something straight, which meant asking Marina. However, Malecai was too much of a wimp to try confrontation.

"What brings you to this wonderful tree this afternoon?" He had asked, offering her a juice pouch. It was very hot outside, after all. Malecai had even risked wearing an undershirt and a pair of jean shorts that he "borrowed" from a certain cabin mate, neither of which was his style at all.

"Walking." Marina replied. That wasn't a full lie, she was infact walking. It was where she was coming from was a lie, but she never said that so it was all truth. For the past two weeks, Marina has been back in her home town of Princeton helping her father. It has been eight months since superstorm Sandy hit and like most people on the east coast, the Wildabee's were still recovering. Marina's father's house was distroid so she and the the rest of her relatives have been busy rebuilding it. She was so caught up with studying so Marina hasn't had a chance to go down there except for now. Sad isn't it? Marina would study instead of seeing her own family. Well, she certainly wins the best daughter award.

Malecai smiled at her just because. He found her just about adorable. Malecai ate another gummy bear and looked out at the busy volleyball court, digesting the meaning behind her words.

"Walking? Thinking?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Mari smiled. Thinking the words carefully. "Just...walking" She said slowly. Well, now she was thinking. Great. Marina thought of the half built house she left hours ago. Her father smiling at her, handing a big stack of vocab cards to study for her SATs. It wasn't even her senior year yet and she already has half of the dictionary memorized. She could've taken it allready, but she needed to go to a real school to do that. So, this fall, Marina will be taking her senior year at Lawrence Woodmere Academy. Marina chose that school because it was close to Camp. And plus, it was a private school so her father would be okay with that.

"I see." Malecai nodded while he swallowed the candy. He wasn't one to pry information out. That was left back in his agent days. The boy flipped the page in his Tensor Calculus book and began solving the next set of equations with ease. He looked as if he was concentrating on his work, but his mind was far elsewhere.

What school would he attend? Would he be able to attend, considering that he was still technically an illegal immigrant? And what of his father? Would he approve of Malecai going back to school after his past "challenges"? The questions swirled like a hurricane inside of Malecai's head, banging against his skull and resulting in a flash headache. This was not new, though. His head was constantly racing with thoughts and ideas, problems and solutions. For example, a flash memory of a novel he had began appeared in front of his eyes, then faded away. The same with a calculator he was creating.

You see, the inside of Malecai's head is like that of a government computer. It has more than one code, making it difficult to get inside of it. Its walls were green and etched with the numbers that labeled his memories. There were different copies of one thing hidden all over in case something were to disappear from his brain. He even had a reboot button. The most interesting part, however, was that nothing (or anyone) really could tell what he was thinking about. He was just that complicated.

    Marina Wildabee

Marina smiled shakily at him. Then her phone buzzed, it was an alert from CNN. Yes, she has CNN on her phone, jealous? Hurricane Andrea was coming. Or tropical storm, you know what, the daughter of Iris didn't care. All the brunette cared about was that her house didn't fall down, again. This was getting on her nerves, but maybe that statement was a little cruel. Many other people did have it worse than Marina and her family. Some people didn't even have a house to rebuild anymore. All of the thoughts of storms made Marina antsy. She gripped some grass and pulled some out un intentionally.

Marina hated storms now, because of Sandy. Rain, thunder, anything that involves the word storm. She wasn't there when the hurricaine hit, but she has seen enough videos on the Weather Channel to know that her father could've lost his life. Maybe that was too intense, but you don't call a storm a super storm for no good reason. Even if she doesn't see the professor alot, Marina still loves her dad, despite how over protective he could be.

Malecai snapped back into reality before it was too late; before his mind drowned in his stress. He hadn't even noticed the eraser of his pencil clenched between his teeth, bitten off near the metal part. It wasn't like him to be so...worried. Well, it was but not that worried. Malecai, despite his constant nervousness, was a pretty chilled guy. He looked over at MArina and took note of the grass that was fisted in her hands. Did he not do the same when the weight on his shoulders got too heavy?

"Something is wrong." He said matter-of-factly. Malecai wasn't called a genius for nothing. He knew when something was wrong...especially when it involved Marina. Almost like a sixth sense.

The daughter of Iris shook her head, "Nope, nothing is wrong." Oh dear lord, Marina was a horrible liar. Ungracefully, Mari patted down the torn grass pack to the patch of mud they were previously on. She didn't like saying made up things to other people, but that was the best thing to do for her. Personal information is something she doesn't like to share. Especially when it has to do with New Jersey, she didn't like talking about where she came from before Camp. It's not like there is anything wrong with Princeton, but you know, Jersey Shore kinda ruined New Jersey's reputation. Good thing that train wreck is over.

Malecai calmly place a hand on top of hers and tried to meet her eyes, which was kind of difficult considering he had to readjust the direction he was sitting. Malecai always thought that one day he could be someone's knight in shining armor...ridiculous because of his nerdy persona. A guy could dream, right? Now he just held Marina's hands gently in between both of his.

"You can tell me anything. You know that, right?" He said softly. Malec didn't want to seem like he was pressuring her to tell him anything, but the son of Athena was curious.

Malecai looked at her blankly, trying to conceal his inner worry. Eventually he just shrugged and went back to "studying" with his hand still gripping hers, but now interlaced. She would tell him when she felt like it. Actually, Malecai was getting bored of just sitting under this tree.

"Do you feel like doing something?" He asked, looking up again. His wise gray eyes sparkled mischievously when the sun hit them. Malec thought it was high time he went on an adventure

Marina nodded and pointed to the twin daggers strapped to her thigh. She liked having her daggers there, it made her feel like she was in one of those video games where the stereotypical white girl prances around killing something or something dumb like that. She stood up, wiping off the loose strands of grass and mud off of her hands. "Lets go." She said to him, extending her hand out for him.

"Perhaps a stroll through Manhattan. Maybe catch the subway and see where it takes us?" Malecai suggested, looking down at her questionably. He really needed to get away from camp for a bit, no matter if it was for three minutes of three years. Malecai had been cooped up here with nothing to do, no place to go. Seriously, the highlight of most of his days was getting hit in the head with a basketball then having to retrieve his clothing from the roof of the Hermes Cabin right after his fencing lesson, of which he took a shower directly afterwards. He had no social life what-so-ever.

"Oh." Marina said quietly. In all honesty, Marina was not expecting Malecai to actually leave Camp. He didn't seem like the guy who left even though Chiron said it's not safe. Was she trying to call him a goody two shoes? Maybe...but she just ties that trait in with every Athena kid she meets. But Marina didn't want to leave Camp, no matter how long they are going for. Prom was at Camp, and Marina wanted to see all the pretty girls flaunt their dates and dresses. Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Malecai looked at Marina, noticing the quiet tone. Malecai was pretty observant so he knew good and well Marina was not one for quiet. At least, not when there is a point to be proven. The boy looked at her with burning curiosity as he wished to be able to read minds. Unlike the other guys he came across, including his father and other closely related males, Malecai enjoyed trying to figure someone else's mind out. The challenge excited him for some reason. In all of this, Malecai knew that Marina wasn't exactly up-to-bat with this outside of camp idea. He stopped walked to turn to her.

"Unless you want to stay here, no?" He asked quietly. Yes, the son of Athena needed a nice long break for the smothering confines of this safe haven, but it wasn't worth making his Marina unhappy. Oh, gods. He just called her "his" in his head. Was that bad? Malecai pushed the thought from his mind and focused back on her.

"I mean, it doesn't matter to me. Anywhere is perfect as long as you're..." He paused awkwardly but covered with a sneeze.

"As long as you're not dehydrated. Dehydration leads to hallucination, which in extreme cases can cause death." The boy covered not-so smoothly.

Malecai smiled kindly and rubbed the back of her hand unconsciously with his thumb. A few more bundles of thoughts passed by in his mind. Like that prom thing that was coming up. Would he be allowed to go because of his age? Most definitely, if he asked someone who was a senior. But...what if he didn't want to ask someone who was eighteen? What if he wanted to go with someone his age? Would they be allowed to go then?

He looked at Marina while he thought this over, biting his lower lip. What if the, ah, person he was going to ask said no? He'd never actually...asked someone to a dance before. He hadn't even...been to a dance before. Malecai swallowed his worry and looked Marina in the eyes. Wait...no. That was too hard. Instead, Malecai looked nervously at the grass by his blue Vans.

"There's um, this prom or whatever going on..."
