"Oh um yes, prom." Marina said monotonously. "I heard of it." The daughter of Iris bit her cheek. Just. Ask. Just. Ask. That was going through her mind. If the world wasn't so sexist, Marina would've already asked him and they would be on their way. The end.

It doesn't even have to be a good way on asking too. Like no balloons, or flowers, or weird stuff like that. Just ask. Simple as that.

Malecai gnawed on his lip nervously. She wouldn't wanna go with you. Well, what if she didn't? Honestly, that was ridiculous. Absurd even. They have been obviously dropping each other hints this entire time. Right? Or was that his imagination? Oh gods what if this wasn't the real world! What if those losers were right and there really was a zombie apocalypse, and the afterlife is just like regular life--

"Will you go with me?" Malecai blurted before he could scare himself with more internal interrogation.

Marina put on a poker face, "Um, sure." On the inside, Marina was screaming with delight. Even though she knew that was going to happen, it was quite exciting. She never really been on a date. Or been to a dance. She wasn't really exposed to much. So this would be cool, right?

    Malecai smiled calmly and shrugged.

"Okay. So what do you want to do until then?" That's it? "Um, sure"? Is that all I get? What if she's just not that into me? Maybe I'm not her type. I'm not exactly Superman, and I doubt that I ever will be able to resemble more than just Superboy. If at all. She probably thinks she's doing me a favor since I'm so...Me.

Malecai dug through his backpack while all of this was being processed for a pen. Pens always made Malecai feel better. Pens meant equations, and equations meant distractions. To be honest, Malecai needed a distraction right now.

From a distance, Marina could hear laughing. She turned her head and saw couples in weird steam punky outfits with the weird accessories. "I think we just missed it." Marina said. She cracked a smile and began laughing just a little. It was funny to her that they missed it. Did they talk for that long? Maybe. But at least she liked the conversation. And it wasn't even entirely about schools and education and boring stuff like that.

Malecai looked at the couples and swore quietly. They had missed it. Why? It was probably his own stupid fault. e had missed his chance as well as a bunch of possible memories. Like wearing one of his many tuxedos for the first time two months. Or trying to get punch but spilling some on some big Ares kid's dress shoes then apologizing fervently before he was beat to a pulp. Or requesting a slow song. Then trying to dance with Marina and accidentally stepping on her foot, or her dress, or someone else. Like choking on a refreshment after a funny joke. Then...maybe...while walking Marina to her cabin laugh about what a disaster it was. Pause. Right there. The last moment he missed. The moment when he gets enough courage to kiss Marina for real...without the awkwardness afterward. Yes, Malecai was disappointed.

"Here...I have an idea." Malecai smiled to Marina.

Marina smiled, "lay it on me." After a second, she realized a different context on what she said. "Er, I mean.." The daughter of Iris ' face turned a light shade a red. Why is she so weird. She makes everything so awkward. Stop. Calm down, Marina. "I mean tell me." She finally said.

Malecai gave her a confused look, then blushed in realization. He thought it was best to just ignore it (he'd tease her about it later).

"Alright. How about we go to our cabins, and I'll meet you back at mine in--shall we say--about twenty minutes?" Malecai asked with a raised eyebrow. He was quite excited at this point, with a plan brewing in his head.

"I uh guess so." Marina replied. She was a little scared, what was Malecai thinking of doing. First off, Marina doesn't like when incompetent people bring up ideas because that could be dangerous. But since he is the son of Athena, this just completely worries her. The children are like..mad geniuses. And mad geniuses are...well mad!

"You trust me, no?" Malecai asked with a teasing smile. He could see the uneasiness in her eyes and found it humorous. Honestly, how mad did she think him. Now this is the point. You fancy me mad. Madmen know nothing. But you should have seen me. You should have seen how wisely I proceeded --with what caution --with what foresight --with what dissimulation I went to work! Malecai thought to himself trying not to snicker.

Marina shook her head, "I do not trust you or anyone else in your cabin of super geniuses." She laughed, crawling into Malecai's lap. The daughter of Iris fondled with her Vos water bottle, making scenery pop up before the two. She smiled, ever since the winter solstice, Marina has been fond of the little gift that Iris had given her. It has came in hand a few times when she went outside of Camp. You know, to check on things around camp. "What are we?" She asked him.

Malecai raised his eyebrows in surprise at the sudden question. Well, they were a lot of things. Mortal, demigods, campers, human (more or less), intelligent. Unless she meant, like, them as in he and her. Relationship wise. In this case, Malecai didn't know. He knew what he wanted them to be, however.

"Well, relationship wise I personally think that we would make a good couple. You're a bully and I'm a nerd." Malecai teased, hugging her waist. Well, it was true. Not the bully part. Just...nevermind.

Marina rolled her eyes, "You're such a jerk." She wrapped her arms aroun his neck, "But, I guess you're my jerk so I'm stuck with you." She smiled and looked away from him, looking at the clouds and stuff.

Malecai blushed a light shade of red (What other color would it be? Chartreuse?) and smiled. Well, he guessed that it was official now. That was just about the most awkward...Ugh. Malecai turned his attention to his open journal. On the page was an unfinished equation (the answer was obviously 7) and a folded green slip that was stapled to the left side. The green paper was actually the most important part in getting Malecai into school, or Avenues High School if we were being specific. It was said to be the "best high school in New York", but Malecai would see so for himself. That was another question...Marina was going to school, right? He didn't want her here by herself, beating up the satyrs and taking their leaves or whatever. And what if she was going to school? How would he know if she was going to be attend school with him?

"Marina, are you going to school this year?" Malecai surely hoped that even if she went home for the school year that she could returned to camp sometimes. Hey, he'd drive to New Jersey to even bring her. He was terrified of going into is Junior year all by himself. Yes, he was a bit cowardly at times. In fact, the whole reason why he wanted to go out into the real world was to get a gander at the school since the orientation was coming soon.

Marina sighed, "Yes," The daughter of Iris didn't want to spend her senior year with an online class. So she had to make the choice of going to school and leave Camp. "It's in Long Island, and I'll be close to Camp." She wasn't going to go back to school in New Jersey, that would be risky considering there are monsters everywhere. But there is Doane Academy in Princeton and s he really loved it there. It doesn't even matter that they have uniforms, she was dying to go there. But its all the way in New Jersey and if she went there, it would be nearly impossible for her to go to Camp. So she had to settle with her second choice. And it was for the best, right?

"Why don't I fight? It takes more courage to take the punch than it does to fight back."

Malecai smiled in pleasure. Yes, he'll be able to see her during the school year. No, she wouldn't be attending the same school but at least she will be getting educated. That's all the really mattered to Malecai, education. He hated when he saw kids at camp complain about school and how they would never go back if they had a choice. At least they had a choice. Malecai couldn't go to school because he was treated so harshly by the faculty and students. He really couldn't go to school to learn anything. He wasn't able to learn with all of the torment. Now as he thought about this he held Marina's hand in his left and began unfolded the green sheet with his right.
"Well, at least you'll be both safe and nearby. I might need you to help me beat up on some monsters." Malecai laughed as he filled out the form. For the contact, he wrote down some Pizza Hut's number in Long Island. The only thing he had to worry about was having to go in with a parent to retrieve the rest of the forms...No, he wasn't going to do what those lame sitcoms did and find someone to play his dad. Unless...Nope. Not happening.
