Is poetry cool? Is that okay?

I'm not much of an author but I love poetry and I'd say I'm pretty good but I'd love some feedback, kay?

It's been easy to make up this new life,
throw away the bad things and do whats right,
but the hard part is saying good bye to those I knew,
and to wish I was walking down this road with you.
Every tear and every smile,
every fight once in a while,
you were there for me,
best friends forever is what we thought we'd be.
I'm walking alone now,
but at the moment all is going down,
I never thought this would be so hard,
but they think I'm left walking with an easy part.
If only you were here,
then my road would be clear,
and while my smile might be slight,
I'll still go on with this new life.
