You've got a smile that will light up this whole town

With out you, tomorrow wouldn't be worth the wait and yesterday wouldn't be worth remembering.

His laughing stopped and Niamh felt that she did something wrong, did she? She was placed on the beach again, Hunter still standing in the water. She looked up into his eyes as she started to speak, finding his innocent smile adorable.

"Nah, it's fine. I mean, sure, I'm wet." She referred to her soaked tank top, shorts, hair and now legs, since Hunter splashed her." But I was fine."
A wicked idea came to Niamh's mind. Oh, this was gonna be good.

"But it was very mean how ya didn't tell me though." She forced a pout, acting like a child who was just put in time out. "Ya need to be punished!" She playfully pushed him into the water, a hand muffling her laughs. Oh, she was in trouble now.

Hunter's eyebrows furrowed in confusion when she pouted and his eyes widened in realization when she said that he needed to be punished. He fell backwards into the water and came up not a second later, breathing heavily with a large grin on his face. She was so going to get it. He tugged forcefully on her arms, pulling her into the water with him as they moved away from the shallower ends. His feet barely touched the bottom of it and the water leveled up to his neck. He went under water, disappearing from Niamh's sight and resurfaced for air right behind her, letting out a loud, "Boo!"

His wet brown hair fell into his eyes and he pushed it back. He took off his socks and shoes in the water as well as his shirt and threw them to the shore. If he was going to play in the water he might as well let those dry for the time being. The water was warmer now or that might've been cause he already got used to it but he splashed water at Niamh with a giddy smile.

"You know how to swim right?" He asked.

Oh gods, now it was her turn. Sure, Hunter's expression was pretty priceless but it wasn't so funny when he yanked her into the water. Now she was completely wet but she was still laughing. Hunter started to drag her farther out into the water, luckily Niamh managed to slip her sandals off before she reached deep waters. Her hair covered her face, forcing her hands to sweep it over. The water was at her chin and her feet didn't touch the bottom but that didn't bother her. Now, wher-

"Boo!" There he was. But he was behind her, which startled her completely.

"Dont do dat! Ya scared me!" She squealed, sending a splash back at him.
Waves started crashing in and Niamh found it harder to float now. The blonde managed to make her way over to the boy, her hands gripping onto his now bare shoulders. She didn't blush, her eyes were trained on the oncoming waves.

"What? Oh, I can swim but da waves are a wee bit high for me." She answered, her arms wrapping around his neck so she was hugging him, her head snuggled on his shoulder.

"What? Oh, I can swim but da waves are a wee bit high for me." Niamh answered in response to his question. He grinned as she clung onto him, placing her head on his shoulder.

"Well that's cause you're so short like a leprechaun." Hunter replied with a smirk, recalling that he teased her about being short yesterday in the woods too. Queen of the Leprechauns was it? He kept the two of them afloat, his legs circling to keep them from sinking as he moved a little more into the deep end. He didn't go any further than waters that was two feet taller than him in fear that he would drown. Normally he could swim easily like a dolphin and care less about the waters but he was holding onto Niamh so he wasn't exactly going to risk it. Besides, like she had said, the waves were indeed getting a little higher. Maybe it was a full moon or something. He glanced up at the sky. Not a full one but large enough. He circled her waist with his arms and locked his hands behind her back.

"Wanna have a how-long-can-you-hold-your-breath-underwater contest? I promise I won't let the waters carry you away." He promised with a laugh.

"Well that's cause you're so short like a leprechaun." Was Hunter's reply as he referred to yesterday. She's the Queen of the Leprechauns, according to him. Sometimes it was a pain to be short.

"Ya a big meanie Hunter." She pouted, giving him sad eyes. A faint blush tinted her cheeks though when she felt his hands clasp around her back, securing her in his arms. It seems he wants to keep her afloat.

"Wanna have a how-long-can-you-hold-your-breath-underwater contest? I promise I won't let the waters carry you away." Hunter laughed. Niamh thought about it, it would be fun. Plus, she could add a little wager.

"Alright, ya got yourself a deal. But, da loser does whatever da winner wants." She added with a confident smile, her grip on his shoulders never loosening.

"Alright, ya got yourself a deal. But, da loser does whatever da winner wants." Hunter met Niamh's confident smile with his own. Little did she know that he could hold his breath underwater for a minute and a half straight. So he liked that extra bet that she added about the loser getting to do whatever the winner wanted.

"I'll take that bet. Are you ready? One, two, three, go!" He signaled, taking a deep breath before submerging himself underwater. To him, the key was not to freak out. His eyes remained closed for a moment as he calmed his racing heart and opened his eyes to look at Niamh. His lips twitched into a slight smile. He wanted to do something that might tip her off to make her reach for air or at the very least surprise her. Tickling her again would be just plain dirty. He was still holding her in his arms so they were quite close and he leaned in and kissed her on the corner of her mouth like she did to him yesterday.

Niamh managed to take a deep breath before she dove underwater with Hunter. She really wanted to win but something told her that it was probably going to be Hunter who wins. Okay, just stay calm.
Huh? Something soft was pressed to the corner of her lip. Her eyes stung but she luckily got used to it as she opened her eyes underwater to see that Hunter had kissed the corner of her lip, like she did yesterday. Niamh flashed a smile towards him, she wasn't going to be shocked that easily.
Niamh wasn't sure how long it was but her lungs started to ache and she found herself becoming very lightheaded. Her time was up. Kicking her feet, she tried to swim up but it was no use, Hunter's grip was too tight.
Obviously panicked, Niamh started to pound on Hunter's chest, trying to tell him to swim up while her chest became right.

    A Second Meeting - Page 2 Tumblr_inline_n25ehu78pZ1rx48z5

Hunter was confused when Niamh started pounding on his chest until he finally registered that she probably couldn't breathe. His eyes widened as he immediately swum up to bring Niamh to the surface so she could breathe. They broke out of the water and loosened his grip on her so she could get some air. The waves crashed down on them and Hunter swam or more so waddled his way over to the shallow, bringing Niamh with him so that they could actually stand. He stood up, patting Niamh's back so she could get any water that got in her lungs out just in case she did. The water reached up to his hip and he looked at the daughter of Aphrodite with worry.

"Are you okay?" He asked in concern. Hunter looked at her up and down to see if anything else happened other than the deprivation of air. Well she was understandably soaked but other than that she looked fine. Or he hoped at least. He gave a small sigh of relief and automatically gave her a hug. He forgot for a while that some people couldn't hold their breath as long as he could.

Thankfully Hunter understood and the two broke for air. Niamh started coughing up water as soon as she reached the surface, air returning to her lungs. Hunter moved the girl over to the more shallow end where the water was up to Niamh's waist. Niamh was still gasping for air when Hunter started to talk.

"Are you okay?" His voice was laced with concern and Niamh could see the worry in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around the girl, bringing her into a hug. Niamh wrapped her arms around his neck, welcoming the hug as she sent him a reassuring smile.

"Ya, I'm alright. Danks for saving me." She said, resting her cheek on his chest. His heartbeat was nice and steady, which was weird considering what just happened.

    "Looks like I lost."

"I guess I wouldn't have had too if I hadn't held onto you so tight so I guess I'm to blame for the most part." Hunter admitted as he laid his chin on her head with another sigh. He closed his eyes and took in the peaceful sounds of the rushing water and the calming winds. Though they were both drenched he felt an undeniable warmth since they were still caught in a hug. Tch, body heat. "Looks like I lost." Hunter heard her say and he looked down, his heart racing. Honestly, he knew that there was a great advantage for him winning but he didn't know at all what to make her do. He didn't want to do decide on something that might make her uncomfortable or make it seem weird. He took away one arm from her and scratched the back of his neck, looking up.

"Er well, honestly I don't really know what to do since I didn't really think about it but uhm. . ." He trailed off awkwardly. He did have an idea in mind but it was just too embarrassing to say out loud because, really, who asks for a kiss? Technically she did kiss him on multiple occasions on the cheek and on the corner of his mouth but no- he should dwelling over it too much. It'd make him look like an idiot. He looked back down to her and shrugged, "I don't know really."

One of Hunter's arms left her waist to scratch the back of his neck while he looked up. It was obvious that he was thinking but Niamh was thinking as well, not on what to do but what he said earlier.

"I guess I wouldn't have had too if I hadn't held onto you so tight so I guess I'm to blame for the most part."
God, she was going to say something. Her arms left his neck and her hands cupped the sides of his face so he was looking at her. Good, now she should speak.

"Hunter, it's not your fault. You just ditzed out, like I did yesterday, remember? Don't be so hard on yourself." She tried to assure him, her thumb rubbing circles on his cheeks.

"I don't know really." Hunter shrugged, causing Niamh to giggle slightly. Maybe she should help him.

"Here, I'll help." She whispered with a silly grin, her face inching closer to his. Wow, she couldn't believe she was doing this. Soon, their lips met and Niamh felt herself smiling. Her lisp were of course soft, she puts chapstick on everyday. But she had to pull away before it got to long, so she did, with a very noticeable blush on her cheeks.

"My way of repaying you for saving me, twice."

Hunter felt Niamh's lips on his after declaring that he didn't really know what he wanted her to do and he blinked twice in surprise before eagerly kissing her back. But by then it was over.

"My way of repaying you for saving me, twice." Niamh said with a blush on her face. He pouted as she pulled away and let his arms wrap around her waist loosely as he leaned down and gave her a little chaste kiss.

"Is saving you the only way I'm going to get any more kisses?" He asked cheekily. He looked at her with a teasing grin waiting for a reply.

Either he was kissing her back just for the fun of it or Hunter had feelings for her. Anyway, Niamh wasn't complaining, she liked how he had kissed her back and even again, though it was short. Her blush deepened slightly as she wrapped her arms around his neck again, a pretty smile gracing her cheeks.

"Depends, I'll give ya more if ya want." She teased, giving him a peck on the lips for proof. Now she had to admit that she had feelings for Hunter, she just had to wait a little.

Hunter smiled when she kissed him again and he leaned closer to her, setting his forehead against hers, and bumping his head against her head slightly.

"Well I'm in no position to refuse and I wouldn't quite mind it." He laughed softly. The tips of his ears were warm despite the rest of his exposed skin being quite cold as the sky darkened, the sun no longer in their view but streaks of orange and blue streaked through it with thin clouds. His wet jeans clung to his legs and he shivered slightly as a wind passed by. Hunter pulled away from Niamh and held her hand, guiding them away from the waters and back to the shore. He sat down nearby where his stuff had landed. Sand immediately clung to his pants and his bare feet when he settled and he looked over at Niamh with a questioning gaze.

"Aren't you cold?" He asked as he rubbed his hands together.

But now she realized how cold it was. And it's even worse now that she's soaking wet and only wearing a tank top and shorts. Her arms and legs chilled as Eurus' wind blew on her and she shivered, goosebumps growing. She rubbed her arms as Hunter sat down, trying to get warmer.

"Ya, a wee bit." She murmured.

Hunter contemplated taking off his jeans since they were weighing him down but decided against it. Stripping on their second meeting didn't seem quite right. He glanced to his side where Niamh was rubbing her arms to try to get warmer. He looked around the sand searching for something dry, grabbing his sweater that Niamh had brought back from her cabin and felt around it. He threw it to Niamh.

"Then you should put that on," He said as he scooted closer over to her and wrapped an arm around so it'd be a little warmer. For the both of them. "And word of advice, you'll get warmer faster if you take off your wet clothes so they don't cling onto you. N-not that I'm saying you should take off your clothes or anything. That'd be weird." He murmured.

Hunter's sweater was flung into her face and Niamh just barely caught it before a sleeve flicked her eye. Some giggles slip from her mouth as she was about to put it in but stopped when Hunter started to talk again:

"And word of advice, you'll get warmer faster if you take off your wet clothes so they don't cling onto you. N-not that I'm saying you should take off your clothes or anything. That'd be weird." He had murmured the last part but Niamh still heard it, a blush growing on her face. Should she? It was cold but stripping on the second meet? That wouldn't be cool. But there was other people here, she thought, do she wasn't going to change in front of them.

"I'll just keep ma clothes on." She murmured, pulling the sweatshirt over her head so it was properly on. She leaned in closer to Hunter as his arm was slung around her, pulling them closer. It did warm her up and he was as comfy as her pillow.

"Da sky is so pretty dis time of night." Niamh whispered in Hunter's ear, looking up at the night sky. There was practically millions of stars in the sky, illuminating the entire sky like a bunch of firefly's. It looked heavenly in her eyes, which she sighed to as she layed her head on his shoulder.

"Da sky is so pretty dis time of night." Niamh said, whispering in his ear. He winced a bit in surprise as her breath fanned against his ear. He nodded silently as she sighed and resided her head upon his shoulder.

"I s'pose it is. I'm actually surprised we can see so many, pollution really clouds it in most places. Maybe the gods had something to do with it though I doubt it." Hunter shrugged slightly. He looked up, staring at the stars and thinking how so much time passed. Time always goes on even without you in it. He wonders what Earth would be like in a 100 years. He'd be dead gone when that came around but he wondered if the gods would have to move like they did from Greece to the U.S. He shook those thoughts away, it wasn't smart to waste your time wondering what'll happen when you don't do something in the present.

"Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? I've seen one once when my mom took me to Alaska where her mom lived. Even the stars can't compare to that, it was like nothing I'd ever seen. It's cool in pictures in stuff but the best view is when you look up yourself and feel the cold air touching your face as you stare up at it. We could go there one day, you'll love it." He exclaimed excitedly. He paused as he realized what he just said and his face heated up. He just sort of promised to take her to go see the Northern Lights. Oh gods he had not meant for that sort of invite to come out so casually. Alaska was on the other side of the country! Although with their demigodly resources, they could easily get there within a day or two. Oh there he went again with the 'they'.

Niamh started to zone out, staring off at the sky. It was like a huge debate in her head right now. Should I tell him? No, yes, no, yes, no, ye- she stopped when she realized Hunter was about to talk.

"Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? I've seen one once when my mom took me to Alaska where her mom lived. Even the stars can't compare to that, it was like nothing I'd ever seen. He explained, the excitement in his voice noticeable. Niamh found it kind've cute, he looked like a kid on Christ- wait, did he just technically ask her out? Alaska was pretty far but they could get there in faster time with demigod resources. And she would love to see the Northern Lights with Hunter, just the way he describes it made it sound cool.

"Oo, I've wanted to see da Northern Lights! Ma stepmom used to show me pictures of dem, it always looked so cool!" She paused a little when she realized how excitedly she was talking, blushing slightly. He may have promised her but he could've been joking. "C-Could we go?"

"Oo, I've wanted to see da Northern Lights! Ma stepmom used to show me pictures of dem, it always looked so cool!" Niamh commented.

"It's amazing." Hunter nodded in agreement.

"C-Could we go?" She asked a little timidly. He blushed and froze a bit before eagerly nodding so Niamh didn't think that he didn't want to go with her. Of course he did. But not so soon though since they just met and everything.

"Maybe one day." Hunter replied as he bit his lip. If they did go to Alaska they'd have to camp out and prepare for monster encounters since being a demigod wasn't so simple. He so badly wanted to go see his grandmother again but she probably never wanted to see him again since the last time she saw him was at his mother's funeral. She didn't even look him in the eye the entire time she was in Florida. Besides, he didn't want to risk having a monster attack near her. He didn't know what the Mist would make see but probably nothing good. She'd wonder why her grandson was so handy with two daggers and possibly think it was for killing people since apparently that was all he was good at. At the thought, he sulked as he sat next to Niamh with his mind caught up in the possibilities of what ifs and possibilities. He leaned on the daughter of Aphrodite and nuzzled his head on the crook of her neck, mostly settling on her shoulder. It was warm and soft like a comfy little bed.

"Maybe one day." That reassured her a little but Hunter seemed trapped in his own mind, his head tucked away in the crook of her neck. His breath tickled her neck which caused her to giggle while squirming before she got used to it, grabbing his hand. Maybe he was thinking about the trip. Or maybe he was thinking about something else. Niamh wouldn't know unless she asked.

"Hunter, what are ya thinking 'bout?" She whispered into his ear, trying to coax him into lifting his head.

"Hunter, what are ya thinking 'bout?" Niamh asked quietly.

Hunter didn't budge and only closed his eyes and nuzzled closer to her. He didn't deserve to act like a moping little kid. Many people had it worse than he did and they pulled through and so could he. After all he'd been doing that ever since he was ten so he had to be stronger now in some sense. He felt safe in this moment. So utterly warm and soft on the inside like it was home. Though it was mostly due to Niamh's presence and her oh so soft shoulder and hair that tickled his face.

"Nothing, what about you?" He replied softly, wondering if she could even hear him through his muffled voice.

Seems that her coaxing didn't work, it only made him bury his head into her neck more, not uttering a single word. Niamh sighed, edging closer to him. She had wrapped her arm around Hunter, resting her head on his. She still wanted for him to tell her what he was thinking about, she was curious.

"Hunter, please tell me what ya thinking 'bout." She pleaded.

"Hunter, please tell me what ya thinking 'bout." Niamh persisted. Hunter groaned, lifting up his head with an innocent pout. He clung to her like a teddy bear and looked at her in the eyes.

"I'm not thinking about anything," He whined as he tried to convince her. Okay maybe he was lying but he didn't wanna seem so depressing to her. Although talking about it would probably help him get it off his chest. He contemplated confessing to her what he was thinking but he didn't want her to see him differently if he did. Would she? The decision was being tossed back and forth in his mind between yes and no like a ping pong game. Well if he did he wouldn't say too much.

"I was just thinking about my mom." He said vaguely with a shrug. Something stung at his heartstrings and a pit was beginning to form in his stomach. Talking about her wouldn't end up good for him. It'd be better if he just kept everything inside dreading when the ache'll become too big for him to handle. Yikes. When that came, he'd be a train wreck.

The innocent pout Hunter was giving her almost made her wanna believe him, along with hi clinging to her like a teddy bear. But Niamh could tell that he was lying, she just could. But if he didn't want to tell her he didn't have to. But it turns out he did.

"I was just thinking about my mom." He had stated with a shrug, though Niamh could tell there was more to it. God, she needed to know when to not poke around in people's business but she wanted to know. Maybe Hunter will feel better and she can learn more about him.

"What 'bout ya mum?" She but her lip after that. Should she throw that out there? Mayer she could get that off her chest as well. "If ya tell me 'bout ya mum, I'll tell ya why I moved 'way from Dublin."
