Personality: Valerie is a kind hearted young girl who will help anyone out regardless of who they are. She is incredibly loyal to her friends, resolutely refusing to abandon anyone regardless of the odds. He or she who stands with Valerie will be her brother or sister respectively. She is friendly and generally warm to everyone save those who had earned her ire. She likes to make jokes most of which are only funny because they are so bad. She likes mortals and finds it amusing as to their ignorance caused by the mist prevents them from seeing the horrors that are the monsters. She is brave though dislikes the night, not enough to have a phobia of it but one will have to talk to her first  with a convincing argument before she will willingly enter a cave or tunnel.
Flaws: Loyalty, will not abandon a friend, believes there is good in everyone no matter how evil, pride.
Powers(must relate to god parent; optional): Similar to Meerkats she can looked into the sun without being blinded by it's glare and still see perfectly. However unlike Meerkats she doesn't have the dark marks around her eyes. Her power has the negative effect of her eyes taking twice as long to adjust to low light conditions than a mortal would and even then her eye sight at night is pretty poor.
Life Before Camp*: Valerie doesn't like to talk about her life before the camp, however she does tell the tale that led her to being who she is now. It started about sixty four years ago were Valerie was part of a quest of two other Demigods to hunt down a monster that dwelt in the desert near the gambling jewel that was Las Vegas. The three heroes left on their quest, Valerie daughter of Apollo, Max son of Ares and Fredrick son of Athena. The three had been friends since when they first arrived in camp, despite their near constant bickering and endless fights. The trio found their monster and fought hard to slay the beast, however the beast was far stronger than the heroes expected. Strong enough to turn the tables on the brave Demigods. After all hunting a Nemean Lion was no easy feat, even for three Demigods, all well armed, all well trained. It wasn't a quest though Fredrick often complained that he wished it was, instead of just a 'combat mission'. The Lion fought with unmatched ferocity and skill, fearless, determined and eager to kill three upstart half-bloods.

The battle was only won through Max's self sacrifice, he willingly took a lethal blow to leave their enemy open for his comrades. A sword thrust from Fredrick through the roof of the creature's mouth, thus bypassing the impenetrable skin. With the monster slain, the heroes were forced to leave Max's body where it fell as more monsters were on their way. In an action that Valerie still regrets she allowed herself to leave a fallen friend behind, one who he saw as brother. Pursued by a determined monster, the surviving two heroes fell back, attempting to disengaging and withdraw from the monster now hunting them. It took them several days and several fights before they managed to escape, hiding in Vegas. Exhausted, weary, demoralised and injured, they made their fateful way to one of the casinos.
The Lotus Hotel, here both heroes made the mistake of eating the flowers and thus remained trapped their for the better part of sixty four years. Finally she escaped though she had long lost Fredrick, maybe he escaped before she did? Or he remains trapped there to this day. With no clear answer, Valerie vowed to search for her lost brother and would one day return to Camp Half-blood with him.

She made the journey back to camp, however much had changed and the news that she had been gone for almost sixty four years struck her deeply. Everyone and everything she had known was gone. The monster that she and her companions fought so valiantly to slay might have reformed by now.

That is why Valerie is here today though, how she first came to Camp Half-blood began about sixty six years ago. A young girl forced to flee her home with the help of a Satyr ally and seek sanctuary in a far off land, in a camp built to train the heroes. She doesn't speak much of her old life, though when she does it is clear she misses her mother and the land she truly calls home. Valerie didn't get on too well with her mother, at best the pair held an icy truce and generally pretended to be a happy family around their friends and neighbours.
Valerie didn't make too many friends, she struggled to, what with the dangers that seemed to be drawn to her.
Her only real friend was a near constant companion in the form of a boy name Tyron. The pair held a close bond, almost a family bond.

It took a giant scorpion wrecking half of their house for Tyron to reveal who he truly was and to take Valerie at the age of twelve to Camp Half-blood. This would be a perilous journey, first to the coast then across the oceans by boat till they reached the distance shores of New York, which held their own dangers in the form of Mortals as well as monsters.
The last leg of their journey was made by a mixture of riding on the back of cars, hitch hiking and generally walking the vast stretches until finally reaching the relative safety of the camp. Fortune seemed to favour them as neither suffered serious injury or any real attack for much of the journey. They were quite lucky when compared to other Demigods making the same journey as they did.

RP Example*: The hot dry wind scraped across the brutal desert that was the Mojave. A wasteland of boiling days, freezing nights and plants and other creatures struggling to survive against all odds. The need for water drove her on, but the desire to reach Camp Half-blood, to inform her remaining friends about the success of the quest drove her on despite the exhaustion.
Part of her longed to turn around and march back to Vegas in order to search for her missing companion, a friend so close she could call him brother, Fredrick. Yet far too many dangers lurked in the streets and one fourteen year old girl could not hope to search the entire city for a friend who might have already escaped and headed home.

Valerie still had no clue as to how long she spent in the Lotus Hotel, probably a few weeks if that. Nothing more than a month anyway, it felt good to rest up, relax and generally recover for a few days. She wished Max had still been alive to see it, he would have loved some of the new gaming machines that were put up. Particularly the ones were you had guns and shot zombies. Those were fun.
She took a deep breath of the dry, hot air. It felt like breathing in an oven, an oven filled with the contents of a forgotten sand box. No matter how long it took, Valerie would return to Camp Half-blood, then she would find her brother.
