An invisible fire [Private] Empty An invisible fire [Private]

Dino walked into a certain part of the lake, followed by his large black dog, that moved so silent and taciturn that could be seen for a shadow. It was a starless night, which almost absolut darkness was stained by the shining bonfire, right in the middle of the circular cleaning where the demigod had arrived.  The weather was cooling down quickly, and Dino regret not having brought gloves. His hands already felt as if they were an ice sculpture. He sat on a hollow trunk next to the fire and tried to warm his hands. He took his headphones out so he could hear the sounds of nature: the low crackling from the fire slowly burning the wood and the melancholic peep of an owl somewhere behind him. It seemed like him and his pet were the only living souls in there. That was somewhat unusual, but no one wanted to sit around the fire and sing happy songs on a sinister night such as that one.

Dino almost enjoyed the loneliness, filled by silence. The only problem was that that place made his mind burst with overthinking. A few days before, his father had called him, asking all friendly if he wanted to come back home for the holidays. Apparently, he and Dino's sister missed him a lot. He quickly denied it, and later, he questioned his actions as he always did. The last time he traveled back to Italy, his homeland, and reunited with his small mortal family, his dad treated him with the same cold indifference as always. And his little sister seemed to be doing way better without him. After all, he attracted trouble wherever he went, and that was the reason why he asked his sister to leave CHB: to protect who he loved the most. Why did the right thing feel so wrong? He liked being alone, not lonely. But he convinced himself that was the only way.

He was thrown back into reality when his dog touched his knee and whined, asking for a pet. He sighed and stroked the soft fur, immediately feeling a bit better. He stared intensely at the bonfire, still thoughtful, and without realizing it, his concentration made the flames become fluorescent purple. The color reflected on the silhouette of the trees and on his own dark eyes, provoking a mysterious effect that he enjoyed. Now intentionally, he made the tone change into green, then into red, then into electric blue. His inner child still liked to play with his powers and entertain himself when nobody was looking. That calmed down his unstable temper and relaxed his muscles.

Briar had been walking around camp for a bit of the day, but she made some use of herself learning about different healing aspects from children of Apollo and then learning about many myths. Briar hated not being able to do things physically, she could try, she really wanted to, it was on her bucket list of things to do, and one day she was going to do it no matter what. Sighing Briar was now watching as the sun was going down and she was humming songs to herself minding her own business. Most people left her alone to do what she wanted and leave her be, most people who knew enough about her, were afraid of damaging her so they didn't get too close to her. Briar shrugged it off either way.

Soon she heard a noise and her head perked up a little bit and she was looking around for any clues, but then she turned back to watching the sunset while she was in the forest. Briar exhaled softly, just the wind no need to stay on edge. she said to herself reminding herself. She took a few big breaths calming herself down. It was a fairly pretty place here, with the tall trees, the birds that'd sing once in awhile. The sea and lake were always pretty at this hour too, with the water glistening and the orange sky making reflecting streaks of colour in the water.

In a sudden movement a bag was placed over her head and she felt herself being lift up. "No stop it!" she called out weakly. She never had a good voice in these type of situations. She felt herself being lifted up, at least they weren't rough with grabbing her, but she knew resisting was bad for her. She could use her power and follow where they were taking her. It was going to take a bit but she started to concentrate a bit on putting her soul outside of her body.

Soon her could hear water and she broke concentration, and just decided to scream, just about when she was thrown into the water. Briar began to panic a bit and tried getting out of the bag and after a bit of thrashing she got it off and she resurfaced swallowing a big gulp of air. The guys left by that point. She was mad but she looked over and saw a fire, where bonfires were usually held. She swam to shore and then came up to the bonfire and sat on a hollowed out log by the fire, hoping to warm up before she left. That's when she noticed the different colours of it.

Dino got startled when he realized that somebody else was there. Through the shadows, he could see a blonde girl standing by the lake, shouting at someone or something he couldn't see. She seemed to be sick or about to faint, and Dino felt the urge to help her, even though he had never seen her before. He was almost standing up when he saw the girl jumped into the water, swam next to him, and then walked towards him, normally, even though she was completely wet. Maybe she was having some personal problem and he couldn't do anything about it. At least, she seemed to be ok. He would ask it to her just to confirm, if his shyness allowed.

He made the fire go back to it's normal colour, because he was sure that the girl would make a comment about it. Now Dino had something new to stare intensely at. His dog, that had fallen asleep next to the fire, raised his head at the stranger and started barking at her. He was a lazy, old dog, but could bark really loudly and threatening when he wanted to. "Eustacio, quiet." He ordered patiently, and the dog obeyed and quickly went back to sleep. The son of Hecate looked back at the girl and felt his cheeks getting warm. There was no reason to be so embarassed, he knew it. "...Hi. Are you ok?" He spoke, lower than he wanted to, but at least he managed to say something.

His hands shined slightly as he began to materialize a towel. That waste of power would make him tired later, but for an act of kindness, it was worth it. Although there was a lesson that life taught him: being a gentleman to unknowns didn't always help you to make friends. "I guess you need a towel." Maybe not. Maybe she was a naiad. Dino had a personal reason to avoid nymphs. But as her skin had a human tone and she wasn't wearing plants all over her hair, he supposed that she was just an average camper, in need of help.

Briar had been quietly sitting there staring into the flames. The switched back, and she just assumed there was something in it to make it like such. She never did make note someone else was there but soon she heard a dog bark, and she got rather frightened. She looked at the dog, that was soon told to be quiet. It made her heart rate slow a bit but she was still on edge. Dog's could be dangerous to her if they attacked.

That's when she heard a voice again and she turned to where it was coming from. It was a boy, probably the owner of the dog, only explanation for it. She sighed softly when he asked if she was okay. "I'm fine, just some people pulling a prank and throwing me in the lake was all, fortunately I can swim." Briar said softly to him and then that was when he materialized a towel, and then offered it to her. "Thanks" She said quietly as she gently too the towel from him. "Child of Hecate?" She asked guessing that was his godly parent as she softly gripped the towel and started to try and dry off her face.

    "I'm Briar by the way."

    OOC: Sorry for the wait.

Dino was kind of relieved to know that she wasn't talking to herself. He couldn't see anyone else in the growing darkness. But it didn't seem like something kind to say, so he just smirked in a not intentional adorable way. "I hate when people do that." He took a quick peek at his dog, that had curled up on a black ball of fur. "There's no need to be scared, really. He does that whenever he sees an unknown moving creature. But he would be too lazy to attack you, even if he wanted to." That wasn't exactly a comforting thing to say, but he had realized that the girl was frightened for a moment because of his annoying, noisy pet.

The towel vanished into mist soon after she finished drying herself, because the spell had expired. "Yeah, I guess you could tell that." He replied, a bit awkward. He always tried not to make so obvious that he was a child of Hecate, because it could... Attract bad looks. In fact, he refused to use magic, even for simple things like that. That day was an exception because he had been on his own for a long while.

"I'm Dino. Nice to meet you." Briar was a nice name - reminded him of Briar Rose. He would have said that to her, but it would be too odd. He looked at her with attentive eyes, trying to see if she was really ok, and not lying about all that. "This is an inhospitable and at the same time pleasant night, right? He said, casually. He looked away, back at the sky, trying to catch a glimpse of the moon, but couldn't.
