Sophia Lavender, daughter of Hermes Empty Sophia Lavender, daughter of Hermes

    Post by HGF88 6/23/2015, 9:32 pm

    Name: Sophia Lavender

Age: 14 and a few months

    Birthday: July 28

    Gender: Female

    Eyes: Greenish-hazel

    Hair: Darkish blond

    Height: 5'6"

Body Type: Average - a couple inches skinnier around waist than around hips; medium bust; 123.6 lbs

    Skin Color: White

    God Parent: Hermes

    Mortal Parent: Charlotte Lavender

    Country of Origin: USA

    Pets: None

Talents: Jack of all trades; persuasive

Weapon**: Butterknife infused with a small amount of Celestial bronze, though she wasn't told about this aspect, given to her by her mother, who claimed to have gotten it from Hermes; kitchen knife she found on the way here

Personality: Intelligent; sometimes naive; can become obsessive at times; generally approachable; very curious and bookloving; very imaginative; enjoys spending time alone every so often; often very reason/logic-driven, and thus somewhat insensitive; can be very easily distracted
    will fite u

Fears: Death; failure; overdependence on others; public speaking

    • Usual fear response: flight

Insecurities: mainly her general confusion and out-of-the-loop-ness regarding social etiquette

Flaws: Occasional hubris; usually brutally honest; not great with sarcasm; poor at small talk; not the best motor skills

Abilities (must relate to god parent; optional): Lock manipulation - can do so silently and stealthily, and can do it about 10-15% faster than normal people (in other words, she picks locks normally, but a bit faster and more quietly) - partly naturally, but also from practicing and figuring out ways to do it

Powers (must relate to god parent; optional):

Life Before Camp*: She was raised in Chicago by her mother, Charlotte Lavender, a lawyer, and a stepfather named Jack, a dentist. When she was thirteen, her mother told her of her father's identity, and that it wouldn't be wise to stay in an urban area for too much longer. Her stepfather, unfortunately, passed away from cancer a few weeks later, further prompting a move. Thus, her mother soon gave her the location of her new residence; her travel to Camp involved a train and a couple of buses, and then a bit of walking. Why she didn't take an airplane still confuses her, but oh well. As per fairly usual, once the teen years hit, monsters (mostly some hellhounds here and there, but the occasional empousa and hydra every once in a while) started popping up out of nowhere, prompting a swift move from Illinois to New York.

RP Example*: [gonna use this as my intro] As she nears Camp, Sophia wonders what it'll be like there. Will she be accepted warmly? She hopes so. There are cabins, right? Yeah. There has to be somewhere she can sleep. She remembers what her mom told her about this place - there's a group of cabins somewhere, and there's going to be some sort of huge building that acts like a... a registration office or something like that. She reaches the borders of Camp and crests Half-Blood Hill. She marvels at how big it is.

    Okay, well, this is awkward.

I totally understand your feelings on not wanting to describe your own personality, and your own flaws, but can you at least give us a best guess?

Also, yes, abilities differ from talents and powers.

    Simple breakdown:

Talents - The things that you are naturally good at. For the sake of argument, you can add skills in here too, even though you have to learn how to do that(or you can just add skills, there's a skills section on the Detailed form, but not on the regular form). So, things you are naturally good at. But are NOT supernatural. So for instance, humorous, or good at baseball, a fast runner. Etc.

Abilities - These are supernatural abilities that require no energy, and are generally passive, they're active all the time. They have to be related to your character's godly parent. These can be things like running 5% faster than others because you're a child of Hermes, or Percy being able to breathe underwater or talk to pegasi, Leo being able to tell what something was made of.

Powers - Big guns. These are the powers that aren't active all the time. They are the ones that take power and energy. Because of this, we require them to have limits based on posts. How many posts can they do an ability, how many posts does it take before they can do the ability again. These are things like charm speak, being able to call upon the waves or lightening strikes.

Alright, now that we have that explained, let's get on to changes you need to make for powers.

Jack of all trades is a talent.

Enhanced persuasion and minor lock manipulation, you need to explain a little better.

Enhanced persuasion sounds a lot like charm speak, which we only do on a case by case basis, so definitely need more information.

As for lock manipulation, how minor of a lock can she manipulate? All the time, or just occasionally? How long does it take her to manipulate the locks?

I'd like a little more info on your LBC too. We require 5 sentences, but I'd like to see how she got told she needed to go to camp and such. If she had been at camp for a while before being claimed or if it was near immediate. Etc.

    K. Should I just remove persuasion altogether?

Yeah, but it could be one of her talents. A lot of people are talented at persuasion.

Gimme one more flaw, it can be physical in nature. Add a little bit more to the personality.

You're going to want a weapon, because demigods are only safe within camp borders. A simple celestial bronze sword or dagger would work.

The talent of persuasion should be more like regular persuasion, not enhanced.

And why did she go to camp?

    Welcome back, friend.

Be a little more specific for her body type, "average" varies.

    Add more to the personality.

I think most people can suffer from occasional hubris, so maybe try adding another flaw?

For her lock manipulation, is this supposed to be something like regularly picking locks or does she just touch it and it opens?

    LBC:
    - What kinds of monsters tried to attack her before she got to camp?

Are you going to give her a weapon from camp (a celestial bronze one)? If so, you should probably add that in the form.

Add a bit more detail to personality and then you'll be good.

For her lock manipulation -- is this speed increase natural or did it come about because she started practicing lock-picking a lot?

    LBC:
    - Was she claimed at camp or at home? If the latter, how did this happen? (I'm not sure we allow out-of-camp claiming except for certain kids who get claimed at birth by a specific god/goddess.)
    - How did she know where camp was?
    - How did she escape the monsters who attacked her?
    - Was her mother aware of her godly heritage and that was why they moved? (I think you had this detail in a previous version of the LBC, but idk.)

    Weapon:
    - Infused with CB? That wouldn't be allowed, as metal alloys featuring godly metals are banned.
    - Also a weapon given to her mother to give to her by Hermes is also not allowed unless you bought a godly weapon slot to use.

    LBC:
    - You didn't answer my second or third question for this section.
    - Also, when did Hermes tell her mother who he was?
