Scale To The Left [private]

freshwater is always so much more difficult to manipulate than saltwater, lolita's found. it just doesn't listen the same, never follows her commands. it's kind of infuriating, really, because sometimes she just likes to be a showoff and when you can't make floating blobs of water that you can actually drink, then what's the point?

"c'mon, c'mon," she urges the water quietly, trying to get it to form a cube instead of whatever indescribable blob it's in at the present.

the blob doesn't like being told what to do, apparently, because it collapses after only fifteen seconds, half of it going in the water and half of it on lolita. "great," she mutters. at least it's a weirdly warm winter and she isn't freezing to death. her tiny hawaiian bones couldn't handle that.

her inner musings are interrupted by the sound of someone stomping through the woods and what sounds like the impact of a fist on a tree. "hello?" she calls out, peering up through the branches.

lolita squints up at the girl, whoever she is. "freshwater is uncooperative," she says in response, knowing fully well it isn't a sufficient explanation but not quite caring too much to bother fleshing her answer out. "and where did you even get the idea i was mad?" she asks. "it seems like you're making a lot of assumptions."

lolita stands up from where she's kneeling by the stream and dusts the dirt off of her knees before turning her attention to her wet clothes, which her whole 'water repelling' thing don't seem to apply to. pity, honestly. wet clothes against skin that doesn't get wet is the weirdest feeling, honestly. it's like her skin's a layer of wax or something.

lolita concentrates on the water and splays her hand out in front of her soaking shirt, tensing her fingers until she feels the water being drawn out of the fabric, the energy flowing through her hand. her grip is just as shaky as before, but at least this time she manages to get all the water in the stream instead of only half. she knows she's showing off, and even though the girl's a bit annoying, she's still pretty damn attractive. 'please like girls,' lolita thinks as she reaches her hand out and says, 'i'm lolita. don't think i caught your name," with a crooked grin, purposefully leaving out the whole 'bit and mighty daughter of poseidon' thing. if this girl hasn't heard of that bit already then it'll be a miracle.

lolita holds her hands up in the universal surrender position. "suit yourself, kili," she says. she's got quite the personality, which is something lolita can respect. and she didn't make any reference to the fact that she's named after a book about pedophilia or the poseidon thing, which are also things she can respect.

lolita wrinkles her nose at the...whatever that thing kili has is called. it looks like a cigarette but smells like perfume or gum, and lolita would much rather just smoke an actual cigarette. "no thanks," she says. "i like my cigarettes without any added flavor and with the nicotine still there. it's a lifestyle, or something like that."
