Woo, let's fight stuff! (Private)

Dayami entered the arena with the Hermes cabin for her first lesson of sword fighting. She had been outfitted with an orange camp tee, an armour that felt far too heavy even though it was the right size, a shield that threatened to pull her arm off and a helmet with one of those Greek horsehair crests on top. Even the sword at her side forced her to walk a little funny. The only items that were hers from before she came to camp were her trusty jeans and beloved boots.

"This is so cool!" she happily exclaimed, looking at the arena, taking everything in. I can't wait to start kicking ass!

Entering the arena, Jin looked around impressed with what he saw. Fitted in custom armour that consisted of balck undershirt with a flak jacket that resembled a kelvar bullet proof vest along with metal arm guards and gloves. metal plated boots and three pouches on his back waist where he kept his throwing knives.

As he continued to stare at the arena he ignored the hushed whispers and confuse looks which were due to the fact that he was the odd one out because of his custom armour, in which he was questioned for wearing by one of the hermes kids before replying he found it on his sleeping bag when he had woken up.
Walking over to the swords he picked one up, testing it by swinging it around in order to see how balanced it was before dropping it to the ground and declaring that he would stick with his knives and glared at anyone who wanted to dispute his declaration.

"Alright Hermes cabin, listen up." The two counsellors had stepped forward. "We're gonna train in pairs, as usual, and switch over every few minutes. Be careful: on your right you got the robotic dummies so don't step too close if you don't know how to avoid spinning blades. Especially the new guys among us." They stared at Dayami and a few others. "Perfect. Now get in groups."

Dayami turned around excitedly and teamed up with a Hermes girl, who took it easy and showed her a few basic moves. The sword was heavy in her hand and she lacked good reflexes but made up for it with enthusiasm and keenness to learn. She swapped a few times, starting to really get exhausted -- why was armour so heavy?! Then she saw who her next partner was.

"Jin!" she exclaimed, trotting over with the biggest smile ever on her sweaty face.

After the two counsellors informed everyone, they all split off into pairs, most paired off with their friends leaving Jin alone.
Until the rotation forced the other kids to have to pair with him, as he paired off with multiple different kids he won his fights rather easliy which once again esablished the fact that he was one of the better fighters in the cabin at the moment.

"Jin!" Upon hearing his name being called by a familiar voice, he looked on to see Dayami moving over towards him. "Oh so your my opponent, well then lets get started" he siad in a cold voice.

Not at all put off by the tone of his voice, she raised her sword in a funny greeting kind of thing and took a step back, lowering herself into a fighting stance. She was new at this so obviously there were a lot of flaws in her posture and the way she held her sword. She was very enthusiastic about everything and couldn't wait for this fight. They said Jin was one of the best swordsmen in cabin 11!

Standing in his spot with his arms by his side, it looked to an inexperienced fighter that his stance was full of openings but to an experienced fighter it was more than that. In reality, his stance enabled him to be ready at a moments notice and lured his opponents into thinking they had the upper hand.
Glancing at his opponent across him, he pointed out three main faults in her stance and in the way she gripped her weapon.

"Feet shoulder width apart, bend your knees a little but not too much and loosen your grip on your weapon but not too loose that it would fall out of your hands." He stated as he gave her advice before aiming towards her midsection with his knife that was held in a reverse grip.

Dayami fixed her stance as best she could before rushing her shield forward to ward off his knife. Clang! Her shoulder muscles were painfully sore and she had a tendency to drop her arm because of the exhaustion. However she still aimed a stab back at Jin's wrist with a large round movement of her other arm.

Jin watched on impressed at her quick reaction time, before having to move back quickly in order to create distance between himself and his opponent.
By doing this her attack hit nothing but air, which he planned to take advantage of as he moved towards her again aiming a low sweeping kick in an attempt to take her down.

Just as her sword jabbed into nothing, her feet got knocked away from underneath her and she fell flat on her back. "Ouch!" She squinted up at Jin, then slowly rolled over on her side, feeling like a very slow and very heavy turtle with her armour on. "That was a dirty move," she said, crawling up on her knees before putting one foot up.

"There are no dirty moves in fighting, you use all you can in order to survive." He told her coldly before puting his hand out for her to grab onto.

She rubbed her bruised arms but quickly regained her happy expression. "That's a cool sentence. I should quote you on that. Alright, what's next?" she asked, getting back into her beginner's fighting stance.

"Alright, what's next?" Hearing her eager response, he told her to come at him but this time with the full intention of hurting him. "If you come at me with the intention of causing me bodily harm, only then will you improve as a fighter. In a fight your opponent wont take it easy on you because you're a beginner so I wont either. So you better hope to survive this." Jin responded as he lunged at her with breathtaking speed aiming an attack towards her face with a frontal jab.

Dayami fumbled with her sword and managed to cross his blade with hers, but the point of his weapon still cut through the side of her cheek. "Ah!" She exclaimed, surprised by the pain. Her shield hand flew to her face and she touched blood; her eyes watered for a second, but then she grinned again. "Cool! My first battle scar!"
She went back to training with Jin. He was obviously very experienced and didn't exactly fight fair: Dayami lost count of the times he knocked her to the ground, hit her, cut her or "killed" her. But all those defeats only acted as a motivation for her, and she kept going despite her growing exhaustion

Time passed as Jin ocntinued to train or rather instruct her on how to survive in a fight using unorthudox methods, each time Jin would knock her down she would get back up better than before which inwardly impresssed him. "Alright lets wrap this up then, come at me now with intent to kill." he told her in his usual tone of voice before settling into a stance of his own design.

Sweat was trickling into her eyes. She had bruises and cuts all over her arms and face. Her clothes were covered in sand, stuck to her damp skin, and her hair was a mess of knots and static. She was tired, out of breath, her whole body just felt like one giant ache, and he wanted her to fight him again? All she wanted right now was a bath and two weeks of holidays in the Caribbean.
She took her time breathing out. It's alright. Everything's alright. Just go for it.
Reaffirming her grip on the slippery sword handle, she ran at him with the intent to kick and stab, putting the last bits of strength she could find into her movements. Sure they were messy and sloppy, but she didn't care. This was the furthest she had ever pushed her body.

As he dodged, blocked and countered every attack, his partner attampted to land on him he was impressed by her ferocity and learning ability as it seemed that she had become less uncoordinated and was acctually planning her attacks ahead of time instead of flailing her sword around like a stick.
Blocking a stab that would have pierced his leg, Jin lost his balance as he misjudged the amount of power she had put into the thrust and therefore was unable to avoid the kick she landed on his legs which caused him to buckle slightly, giving her time to ready another attack.

Steadying himself, Jin ocuntered her attempt at stabbing him as she overextend her attack leaving her open for him to throw her over his shoulder ending the fight in one move. "Good fight" he said as he walked off before the two twins whom were head of the Hermes cabin declared training was over.

Dayami wheezed. In those last minutes of the fight, her attacks had been weak and random, her blocks sporadic and her general attitude unfocused. When the Stoll brothers called for everyone to stop, she dropped her sword and fell backwards on the sand, closing her eyes. Sweat beaded her face. She felt like she needed twelve showers and a box of deodorants to get over her own smell.
She was dead, just dead.
When Jin talked, she squeezed open one pair of eyelids. "That's like, the first nice thing you ever said to me," she panted, a hint of her usual grin spreading on her weary face.

"That's like, the first nice thing you ever said to me." Smirking to himself in amusement, he proceeded towards the bathrooms in order to take a hot shower.
As he removed his armour, Jin overheard the other boys from earlier comment on his and Dayami's fight. As they commented on how weird he looked in his armour and how lucky he was to be sparring with a cutie like her, and how if they were to have sparred with him they would've destroyed him easily.

Hearing such nonesense caused Jin to scoff at their apparent immituraty and jealousy towards him before enetering the shower.
Walking out of the bathrooms in a new change of clothing, he decided to head towards the cabin for some rest.

OOC: One of my characters is currently doing one, and generally they take forever. Like, mine's been going on for actual years. Would you rather do some chariot racing?
