Early Morning Practice Empty Early Morning Practice

Kate strolled into the arena with her sword sheathed at her left hip and her helmet in her right hand. Most campers seemed to enjoy sleeping in on Saturday mornings but not Kate, especially after the week she had. It seemed like one think stacked on top of another, school work had started piling up to the point she skipped some of her training classes to try to get it done. She had hoped to beat at least some of the instructors and other campers to the arena so she could practice by herself for a little while and try to relieve some of her stress from the week on a dummy rather than a sparring partner.

The soft echoing of her steps in the arena brought a smile to the girls face, "Perfect." She whispered, before setting up a training dummy and donning her helmet. After a deep breath she started attacking the dummy, letting her anger from the week drive her attacks.

OOC- Morgan still hasn't replied so I'm jumping in

    BIC-
Kyungsuk had always been a morning person. There was just something about waking up to a paling sky, so early even the birds were still asleep. After her usual stretch routine and a quick trip to the bathroom to brush her teeth, she grabbed her arm guards and sword. It was never too early to hit the arena, and she wanted to get some serious practice done before the training facilities flooded with campers. Since it was Saturday, the stadium and arena weren't booked for classes but that didn't mean they wouldnt be overrun by little gremlins in ill-fitting armor eager to end up in the infirmary.
Kyungsuk flexed her robotic hand. The well-oiled gears clicked satisfyingly. It was time to kill some automatons.

To be fair, there was a reason she got up at unholy hours. As the daughter of Nemesis, she had a 24/7 radar of injustices happening in her vicinity. And that was when she was awake. Her demigod dreams were full of real-life instances of corruption, murder and corporate handouts. So after your like, 5th nightmare about war crimes and Amazon warehouses, there wasn't much point staying in bed.
So here she was, sword drawn and ready to give the automatons a piece of her mind, when she realized she wasn't the first one in the arena. There was another girl, on the other side of it, doling out blow after blow against a robotic hoplite. Weird, nobody was awake at this time usually. Kyungsuk nodded at her then kicked the ground. An automaton rose from the sand, spear ready and came at her in a mechanic rumble. Usually she trained against two or more but she didn't want the other girl to get in the crossfire.

OOC: Sounds good. Sorry for the late reply it’s been a really busy week.

BIC: A few beads of sweat trickled down Kate’s forehead, her mechanical opponent being the right amount of difficult this particular morning to be challenging but not make the teen more upset. A smile graced her lips as the endorphins melted away the stress from the week. There was a certain serenity in the arena this early in the morning, with the birds not even awake and the sun just barely beginning to brighten the sky.

A flash of movement in the corner of her eye caught the girl’s attention for a movement. The daughter of Athena shoulder checked the automaton to push it away from herself before focusing on the movement that caught her eye. Kate recognized the woman who walked into the arena, one of the instructors but she couldn’t quite remember her name at this moment. The teen returned her nod before returning her attention to sparring with the robotic hoplite.

Kyungsuk was busy hacking away at the automaton when it happened.
Everything up until then had been perfect. Not a cloud in the sky. The only noise the music of slicing and stabbing. The Hephaestus cabin had programmed the robots with a wide range of moves and you could pick between 'training', 'loop' and 'shuffle'. 'Loop' was great for practicing a specific move and 'training' gave you a random pre-programmed choreography, but 'shuffle' was the truly helpful option. It was the closest thing to actual combat- no planning, no rehearsing, no regurgitated moves, you had to be alert every microsecond or else you'd end up in the infirmary. (Or, yknow, in Charon's barge.) She stabbed and blocked, her sword hissed through the air, drawing sparks at every hit. She was just finding her groove when... CLANG! BOOM! Her blade hit the spot right at the neck gears, severing the wires, and the automaton exploded so hard it blasted her backwards like a missile. The daughter of Nemesis hit the sand of the arena like a pancake. Her vision went black. Painful electroshocks jumped up her back. She'd lost her sword. Her arm guards hadnt softened the shock. Spitting out sand she sat up and checked herself for injuries. Apart from a bruise or two and some burns, she was ok. Lucky. But there were other problems. She looked up at the girl on the other side of the arena, hoping she wasn't wounded. "Sorry about that! Everything okay?"

Kate's focus had been almost solely on the automaton in front of her, and keeping it in front of her. During the last game of capture the flag of the summer one of the Ares kids had gotten behind her and managed to knock her out, and she wasn't about to let that happen again. The robotic hoplite's sword bounced off of the teen's shield causing a wicked grin to flash across her face as her sword connected with the metallic arm, just below the elbow. Her opponent's arm and weapon clattered to the ground as Kate pulled her sword back up and through the front of the robots neck, the machine fell back into the sand while the girl stood over it smiling before the noise tore through the arena. A curse escaped her mouth as she ducked instinctively. A few pieces of hot metal had hit the daughter of Athena in the back of her legs and arms, leaving small cuts and burns. The teen bounced lightly trying to shrug off the pains ass he stood up briefly triaging herself and taking off her helmet. She spun quickly on her heel to look at the instructor as she started to sit up before walking over to her quickly, "No worries," Kate said quickly, "Are you ok?" The teen asked kneeling next to the older girl and helping her sit up.
