by I sat up slowly, cracking my back as I did so; I didn't know how long I'd spent staring at the wall, but I might have dozed off once or twice when I did. I stretched and looked over at Charlie's bunk.... I should probably talk to her. I felt a twinge of guilt for treating her the way I did yesterday, or the day before, or whatever -- but.... I sighed and got up, shuffling over to her bunk.

I walked back in and laid down on my bunk, sighing to myself. I hoped Charlie was okay -- she was acting a little funny today.

I got up, stretching my arms as I looked around me. Gods, how long had I been out? I decided to stretch my legs and left the cabin, whistling to myself.

I walked into the cabin and went over to my bunk, sitting down on it with a sigh. I took off my shoes, kicked them under the bunk, and laid down, shutting my eyes to take a nap.

I woke up some time later, groggily staring at the bunk above mine as I ran a hand through my hair. Ugh. I stretched and cracked my back, sitting up in the bed. I really needed to get out more.... I pulled on my shoes, picked up my caduceus, and walked out of the cabin, feeling slightly light-headed.

I walked back in and sat down on my bunk, holding my caduceus over my knees. I frowned at it and began to run my fingers along it, looking for cracks or splinters in the wood.

Charlie crept in, trying to be quiet. She saw her brother and grinned. SHe snuck around. "Boo!" she yelled, trying to scare him

I jumped at the sound of Charlie's voice, dropping my caduceus to the floor with a clatter. Swearing, I leaned over and picked it up, looking at Charlie with an annoyed expression on my face. "Jeez, what was that for?"

Charlie laughed. "For being annoying," she said. She plopped down on his bunch next to him. "So big brother. Whatcha doin?"

"My caduceus -- I'm trying to see if it's broken. I've been dragging it everywhere for the past day and a half." I frowned and held the caduceus up to my face.... No, that wasn't a crack. I let out an involuntary sigh of relief and placed it across my legs again.

"Sorry, clearly didn't know that." I rolled my eyes and laid my caduceus delicately on my bunk, the top of it on the pillow. I patted it and whispered, "Nighty night, Caduceus. Sweet dreams. Don't let the termites bite."

Charlie rolled her eyes again. "Dearest brother of mine," she stood up. "You have some serious issues," she said

I looked at Charlie and grinned, sitting up straight again to shrug. "Well, hey, you'll come to love your weapons. Be the weapon, and you'll be good at using it."

"Except all weapons seem to like hurtin' me," she said, talking about the few times during training she'd been stabbed.

I paused, watching her face for a moment before sighing and shrugging. "Well, not all of them. At least you haven't fallen on your own dagger, that'd be real sad."

"Really? I don't." I made a confused face and then laughed, shaking my head at her. "That's funny, but you're not that bad at fighting. You're pretty decent, actually -- train a bit more and you'll be fine."

"Are you leaving for good, or just for a short while?" I didn't want to admit it, but I really wanted Charlie to stay -- I didn't have that many friends around here, since people didn't like the ways I pranked them and I didn't like to go interact with people much.
