I snapped one half of the broken arrow shaft, admiring how easily it split in half in my hands, and threw both pieces away.

I raised an eyebrow, chuckled, and then disappeared, reappearing beside the little boy with my dirk out. I grinned, tapping the sharp point with my finger. "Hello."

"Really now?" I laughed. The snake wasn't that bad-- Benji's could be so much more scarier. I picked up a bow and a quiver of arrows, slinging it on my back. "Well then, let's play."

I notched an arrow and fired it at the boy's leg, using the air to propel it so fast it was a blur.

"Oh, I will...." I chuckled, notching another arrow, and fired it at the boy. But instead, the arrow disappeared suddenly as I grinned.

It reappeared a foot behind the boy, close to his head. If I gave the word, he'd probably be speared through with an arrow point poking out of his eye. "See what happens now, snake. How cowardly. The boy needs to rely on you to protect him."

I fired it at the snake, but it disappeared halfway there and reappeared around the snake's middle, a foot above it, and was propelled from there and at the snake's body.
