The Highway

"What the carp..." Anatkah muttered. She looked out the window of the taxi in time to see Demetrius get just about pulverized. She told the driver to pull over and she got out. She passed him a drachma and got out. "Demetrius, you've got to have been born a hero," she muttered. Heroes always had the worst luck in the world.

I jump off the top of the taxi and i run to demetrius.

Anatkah thought she would just about have a heart attack when Ben suddenly seemed to materialize in front of her. Dodging cars she ran to the middle of the road and drew her sword. Whatever the mortals saw, they stopped.

Well, I was unconscious to say the least. If not dead. The drunk driver kept on driving. I was trapped under the van.

"Stop! That! Van!" Anatkah yelled over her shoulder. "Use your powers!"

I jumped on to the car with my one good hand and kicked through the window and kicked the drunk until he was unconscious i jump in and pull the brakes after and the car stops

I get out of the car and carry him to the side of the road and stuff a square of ambrosia in his mouth

Still dying, slowly, from mortal wounds.

Two police cars show up, an ambulance follows shortly

bic: i get him to swallow the ambrosia

Anatkah's hand went to her throat. Closed over the ankh. She lowered her sword and let traffic flow again. She walked over to them. Slowly, she pulled it off and slipped the thin gold chain around Demetrius' neck. She felt no regret. Only resignation. Mortal wounds... but maybe in the next life, he'd want to live.

Ambulance people push Ben away, forcing the food out of my mouth, fearing it'll choke me. I was still dying. People forced me into the ambulance.
OOC eh.... I haven't decided yet if he'll die or not

I stare at Demetrius and sit down in the middle of the road with a madness look in my eyes.

ooc: gives a character the will to live. an ankh is the egyptian symbol for life. and since he's the son of an egyptian goddess it should work best on him.

bic: Anatkah jumped into the ambulance. When the medics tried to stop her she gave them her best death stare. It worked. They didn't ask any questions.

The medics put me on life support.

I jump in too and just stare at demetrius

Anatkah watched them dully. She knew it was no good. She knew what death looked like.

" i hope he makes it."

"Don't mean to be negative, but he's dying." Anatkah wasn't sure what'd she do if he died. Probably go to the Underworld. She'd do what she'd meant to do for months now.

The ambulance drive to the ER

Anatkah leaned her head back against the side of the ambulance. She felt suffocated in the confined space, but gritted her teeth and glared ahead.

MUCH later....

Anatkah left the soup kitchen, hardly able to think. Cars roared past her, headlights gleaming. More than once, someone's horn blared at her. Holy Hades, she was a thirteen-year-old in ratty jeans and a dark t-shirt... and probably had serious mental issues. As that thought entered her numb mind, she stopped. Okay, she was hitchhiking; she needed serious, mental help. A car pulled over, and a woman with a friendly face rolled down the window. "Going somewhere?" she asked, not unkindly. "Yeah," Anatkah muttered. "Can you drop me off at the nearest hospital?" She's start with a doctor, then move on from there. The woman smiled. "It's on my way. Hop in." Anatkah smiled her thanks and pulled open the passenger side. They drove off.

Hanson walked into the hospital. He whispered something to the nurse, basically saying that Nix was probably sick but she didn't know it. The nurse nodded, understanding.
