Jim's Lean-To

I sigh dramatically. "Fine, fine." I smile at him lovingly. "I don't have a choice, do I?"

I release an "Aww!" and decide to cooperate for Glika's sake.

I set her down very gently on cot, nice and close to the fire. "This is going to hurt. A lot," I said rolling up her pant leg to set th bone.

I hear a terrible scream. Kinda like the ones that set stampedes off or the idiot girl in the movies' scream when she's getting pursued. Then with a start, I realize this is my scream. Tears pour down my face and I slam my head back, absorbed in the pain.

I sob into his shoulder and grip to him. Oh gods, this was terrible! Who knew my ankle was so sensitive?

With one hand I hold onto Jim and with the other, Glika. I moan and hold them both tighter.

"It'll be ok... I promise, it'll be okay," I sooth gently, rocking back and forth.

"I still want that egg!" I whisper persistently. I swear I would've hopped back in the tree to grab what I had killed for.

I whistle. "That is a fine creature." Okay, I'll admit my wolf obsession.

"Glika will be able to do that too,"

"Aw! Like a little huntress!" I say, hugging Glika to my chest. That word rings a bell, but very dimly.

I watched her, smiling

I hold up little Glika and pretend she's talking to Jim. "I'm bewwy happy you got me fo Demetwi." I purse my lips and move her little paws.

Glika licks Jim's cheek and I laugh. "Demetri can never repay you." I say in the third-person. I move Glika aside for a minute. "My turn, Glika." I kiss Jim's cheek and cradle my puppy.

I grinned. "Here, let's get that ankle propped up,"

"Okay, Dr. Harvy." I smile.

I get a pillow and prop her her leg up on it.

"Thank you." I grin and hold out my arms for a hug.

I hug her tightly to me

I sigh. "How do you feel about all of this?" This question has been burning through my head all day. "I'm so accident prone, I need a sign saying 'Warning: May cause earthquake at any time.'." I smile at my own joke.
