"Nanotech is manipulating matter at the nanoscale, so at atomic and molecular levels," Victoria explained. "It's very handy to build devices and structures like carbon nanotubes and fullerines, or even make robots on the nano scale."

Re: The Phrontistery (aka Victoria's bunk)
Gods, Victoria was smart. Hope was always in awe of what her siblings did. They all seemed so smart and perfect, while Hope thought of herself as a screw-up. Hope did understand particle physics, which made Vic's words a little less confusing."I-I-I know a-atoms. W-w-what a-are f-f-fuller-r-rines?" Hope was, well, hopeful, for once. Maybe she could form a real bond.

"A fullerene in the wide sense is basically any molecule composed solely of carbon atoms. You can put them together in any shape you want, though the two most common aspects are buckyballs (they look like a soccer ball) and buckytubes." She gazed at her diagram again. "Buckyballs are awesome for carrying molecules through the body; this means (she looked up) you can put a toxin in and have the buckyball travel through your body and inject it only in a sick cell. Such approaches can revolutionize our outlook on diseases like cancer or AIDS."

"Wow." Hope just looked at her sister in awe. She could tell if Vic survived, which many campers didn't, she would become a doctor. Either medical or just a PHD, she knew Victoria would go far in life. "D-d-do you kn-n-now." Hope copped out of a compliment mid-sentence. She didn't know if it would be taken seriously, or if it would be taken as an insult.

"Know what?" Victoria asked.
She looked at her diagram again, making a quick note about CNTs on the side of the arm, before looking back at her half-sister.

"Oh, n-nev-vermi-ind," Hope looked down at herself. She was wearing a pair of loose sweats and and a baggy t-shirt. Not exactly appealing clothes. It's hard to get jeans on when you can't move your legs. Hope wished she was pretty. It may seem like a shallow thing for a daughter of Athena to say, but it was true. She tucked her stray hairs behind her ear.

Vic rose her eyebrows. "Okay then. If it's a question concerning nanotech, don't hesitate."
She wrote more and made annotations before switching to another diagram, one she had started yesterday, about astrophysics. Astrophysics was what Victoria wanted to do. It was what truly thrilled her.

"Oh, n-n-no, i-its f-f-f-fine." Hope wasn't going to make a fool of herself. "W-w-what's that?" She gestured to Victoria's tablet. It was a star diagram, but Hope wasn't well versed in astrophysics. Laying outside was hard when you were basically covered in glow in the dark paint all the time.
