I smile slyly and stand. I take of my shirt and call Nylon to go get us some towels. Nylon takes off from his perch on the golden edge of the cabin and I turn to Kyla. "Oh, yeah. Right now."

"Well okay then." I stood up. I didn't have a swimsuit-I didn't have anything, but I figured I could just swim in my clothes. "Let's go, I guess."

I walked in and sat down on my bed. I probably should've stayed in the mess hall. Too late to go back now. I took a magazine from the bed next to mine and started flipping through it.

I walk into my cabin. My face feels hot. I don't know if it's anger or sadness or embarrassment or what. Okay yes, I'm sad. I mean, a relationship that lasted almost a year just ended. This sucks. I don't even have any other friends here. What I need to do is be the person I used to be. The person I was when I was just a homeless girl who lived in the alleys of streets. The girl who wasn't afraid of anything who was outgoing and always had a friend. What's the word? Popular, fun, nice? I don't know. I'll figure it out later. Right now I'm tired. I get into bed, glad I'm getting to sleep early. I drift off to dreamland, pushing back what I really need to do.

I wake up to the sound of someone else's alarm clock. What's the point of purposely losing sleep? Nothing exciting ever happens here. I roll out of bed. I find something clean and decent to wear. That's another thing I need to do-- buy more clothes. That's another thing I need to do-- get some money. I brush my hair and slip it into a ponytail, put on my used-to-be-white, grey athletic shoes, and walk out.
