Divergent OC Fanfic Empty Divergent OC Fanfic

Disclaimer: Most characters are Veronica Roth's. The charries that you do not recognise from the Divergent series are, obviously, mine. This is just a fanfic and I do not claim any of Roth's plots, ideas, etc. Most of this story will be dominated by OC plots and characters, so I do not think you need to worry.

    Chapter 1: The Least

AS FAR AS ROSIE FREEMAN WAS CONCERNED, JENNY CRIEFF WAS THE PERSON SHE LIKED THE LEAST.
She didn’t want to be mean, and every person had his or her own worth, but if Rosie weren’t Amity, maybe she’d hate Jenny, though of course she would wish no harm to the girl. They’d been best friends since they were old enough to remember, both born into Dauntless. And then everything had changed when Rosie had chosen Amity over Dauntless, and Jenny had taken that to heart.
What Rosie understood of that was that Jenny believed that Rosie had decided Amity over Jenny, and that made Jenny hate her. Well, the feeling was mutual, even though Rosie would never admit it, at least not to anyone but herself.
As an Amity, she pitied Jenny for feeling so much of that horrible emotion all the time, and wished it didn’t have to be that way. As Rosie, she wished everything could go back to the way it was when they didn’t have that between them. But now everything was different, and Rosie wasn’t forced to face any sort of closure between them or such nonsense because they never saw each other. And—
Rosie was yanked out of her reverie by a finger jabbing playfully into her side. She yelped, nearly dropping her guitar.
“Jesus, Martin!” She laughed, pushing his hand away. Martin Carter was her best friend in Amity. He’d also transferred from Dauntless, and Rosie was the tiniest bit jealous that no one made a big deal out of that. Both Martin and Rosie had not been able to stand the reckless, brash behaviour that was expected in Dauntless, and they’d agreed to transfer together. The other Amity liked to tease them—albeit very gently—about their ‘relationship’ to each other, but the honest truth was that they were simply great friends. Martin had left behind a sister named Billie back at Dauntless, but she didn’t seem to mind. Two years after Rosie had left Dauntless, her brother had transferred to Erudite.
There was a deep secret between Damien and Rosie, and that was that Damien was not your average, ordinary Erudite.
    Damien was a Divergent.
Rosie shoved the memory away with whatever the equivalent of ferocity was in Amity. Martin was watching her with an expression of curiosity mixed with concern. “Where exactly are we? I must have dozed off somewhere a couple of blocks away from the square.” She asked Martin.
“We’re in the middle of no-where in the fields, of course. Where else did you expect?” Martin shrugged, and then winced as the truck bounced over something and jostled his bad leg. On one of the more wild training exercices at Dauntless, he’d been ‘accidentally’ shot in the shoulder and it had somehow affected his leg. He had to take a walking stick wherever he went.
Rosie made a face at Martin, picked up her guitar, and played while she sang along with Martin as the truck moved along.

JENNIFER CRIEFF WAS NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY, TO SAY THE VERY LEAST.
The last thing she remembered was falling asleep, and then she was standing in the middle of a huge mass of Dauntless that resembeled an army. People were screaming at each other, and in a matter of seconds, the screaming had turned to punches. Jen was brave and daring, but she wasn’t an idiot, especially not with brothers like hers. Arthur had gone to Erudite, and Ben…
    Ben was a Divergent.
Jenny did not understand why Ben didn’t just pretend to be happy with his choice to have gone to Erudite. Although they were siblings, Jenny and Ben could not be more different. Her intellect was above average, but she didn’t carefully cultivate it like Ben did. Ben’s level of intelligence was on a whole other scale. Life had hardened Jenny in a way both her brothers would never understand, and as different as her brother was, deep down she wished Ben had stayed. Not even Rosie had stayed, and that was even worse than losing her brothers to Erudite. Of course, Rosie would only think of herself.
But now, Jenny had way more important matters on her hands. Such as the fight breaking out around her and the need to protect herself. A boy, Uriah, was getting hurled at her. She lunged to the side to avoid getting hit and accidentally slammed into someone else. Before she knew it, Jenny was pouring all of her concentration on dodging and maneuvering. Suddenly, there was a sort of roar, and someone burst into the space. His voice boomed above the rest. He was tall and well-built and buff looking. He had long-ish blonde hair and stubble growing on his face. He had to be at the most twenty. He had a rifle in his hands but wasn’t shooting anyone, just whacking people with it.
She busied herself again with avoiding blows. But she’d known her luck wouldn’t last. Her vision blurred as she got socked on the jaw, and crashed into the ground. She let out a scream as she was kicked again and again, blindly thrashing out with her knife. And then, suddenly, the source of pain was gone, and there were hands on the sides of her head. She blinked, seeing two of everything.
Jenny finally managed to focus on a pair of grey-blue eyes and bright blonde hair. Some dimly lit part of her woozy brain registered that the eyes and hair belonged to the same person whose hands were holding her head. The hands were large and callused and probing uncharacteristacally gently at her scalp.
“You okay?” The low voice asked and instinctively, somehow, she had the energy to wag her head up and down, mumbling a thick ‘yep’ before she passed out.
