Walking and Talking {Private}

Rebekah followed Hope into the Cabin Courtyard. Walking to keep in pace with her she looked down at her feet. Not sure wha to say she asked, "How's your cabin?"

Hope shrugged. She noticed that Rebekah was walking fast, so she slowed down. She giggled a little at a Rebekah's question. "I m-m-mean its full of smart blondes. It is the Athena c-c-cabin after all," she replied. "Why? What ab-b-bout yours?"

"Oh. You know... everyones drunk all the time." she sighed. "It's like a nightmare."

Hope laughed, a light fluffy noise that was bound to make anyone smile. It was a shame that hardly anyone ever heard it. "Well, I w-w-wish you could come live in m-m-my cabin. You're the only one who l-l-likes me." She looked up and gave a full smile with her almost perfect teeth.

Rebekah smiled. "I'd love to live in your cabin." She paused then added. "You're actually the first sober person I've talked to all week." Rebekah kicked a rock. "Not many people like me either."

Hope laughed again. "You d-d-don't get around much d-d-do you?" She asked, rubbing her arms. It was a little chilly. She stopped moving and dug through her pack, looking for a sweatshirt. She pulled it out and struggled a little to put it on. Eventually, it got on, and they kept moving.

Rebekah shook her head. "I normally don't leave my cabin. I was only in the library to find a book. I don't even eat in the mess hall." Rebekah looked at her own bare ares and decided she wasn't cold. Rebekah kicked another rock, her eyes still on the ground.

Hope cocked her head and stuck out her bottom lip, confused. "I-i-if you hate it in there, w-w-why do you st-tay?" She was genuinely baffled. Hope hated her cabin, mostly because it was hard to get around. She stayed on the walking paths, even though she was riding, sort of. She just liked to get outside, but not necessarily talk to people.

Rebekah shrugged. "I have no where else to go. Most of them stand on the porch anyways." She pointed in the direction of her cabin. A few kids sat drinking out of wine glasses.

Hope blinked her eyes, confused. She knew enough about the world to know that underage drinking isn't allowed. "Aren't-t-t they und-der age?" Stopping to stare at the cabin, some kids drunkenly waved, then covered their mouths as they whispered and pointed at Hope. She looked away and swallowed hard, then kept moving quickly.

"They make it themselves, you know, in the cellar. As long as they don't leave the porch," Rebekah shook her head. It was awful. She hated drinking yet she was always surrounded by it. "I've always wondered what their brains are processing while their drunk. I normally just hear mumbles."

Hope nodded. She kept her head down, not wanting to talk. She took in a sharp breath and stopped moving. She tugged on Rebekah's shirt to make her stop.

Rebekah stopped. Looking around she couldn't decide why they stopped. "What?"

Hope swallowed hard again. "Your siblings are laughing at me." Hope wanted to stand up and stomp away. But her underdeveloped, useless legs weren't going to do that. She would never be bold enough to go up and slap them across the face. Hope moved so her back was to the cabin. She dug her elbows into her thighs and buried her face in her hands.

"Oh." Rebekah looked at them. "I'm sorry. They aren't the nicest... I'm not like them." Rebekah turned around and sighed. "Come on. Lets keep moving."

Hope smiled, thankful her only friend wasn't a drunk person. She moved her wheelchair so it was again next to Rebekah as they moved around all the cabins. "How long have you been here? And have these cabins always been here?" She pointed to the cabin 13 and so on.

"Just a few months. I'm not sure. They have always been like this." Rebekah looked around. She looked back down at her feet and studied the grass.

"Oh." Hope studied her feet, or at least what she could see of her feet. Both of the girls were feeling awkward. She stopped moving and tucked her hair behind her ear.

Rebekah looked up and crinkled her nose. "I'm starving." Rebekah looked at Hope. "Hungry?" Rebekah pulled her hair back into a pony tail. The sun was beating down on the two girls and she was beginning to sweat.

Hope shrugged. She wiped sweat off of her forehead. "M-m-might as w-well." She didn't want to burn.

Rebekah nodded and squinted into the horizon. "Umm... Where do you like to eat?" She looked over at Hope. Rubbing her arms she decided her arms were about to burn if she was out too much longer.

Hope looked around and spotted some shade over by the Demeter cabin. She pointed at the tree, as it had a solid slab on wood on the ground near it for her wheelchair. "Let's go there. Can you get the food?"

Rebekah nodded. "What do you want?"

Hope shrugged. "P-p-pizza sounds g-good." She thanked Rebekah profusely, as Hope's arms were getting tired and she was going to burn.

After making sure Hope got to the tree okay Rebekah set out for the dinning hall. On her way she passed her cabin. "Hey, Rebekah!" Slurred her step-siblings. Every time they said her name it sounded like Re-bah-khah. She couldn't tell if they didn't know it, or if they were just always drunk. "Whoos dah wheals?" they spat. Rebekah shook her head. "Want sum whine? Greet brew!" They thrust a glass towards the edge of the porch. Rebekah took it and smiled. As she walked away she dumped it in the grass, not even sniffing the beverage.

Rebekah came back to Hope holding two boxes of pizza. "Alright, I got plain cheese and a pepperoni. I wasn't sure what you like, or how hungry you were." Rebekah sat in the grass and set the pizzas down. She pulled off her bag and pulled out two water bottles. "I brought some water too. Since its getting kind of hot."
