Sunshine with a touch of reunions

taleis hums quietly to himself and he stretches out on the grass, relishing in the feeling of it. his aunt and uncle and cousins were on a vacation and weren't due back for three more days, when taleis would surprise lucy (again) for her birthday. how she manages to be surprised that he shoes up every single year is beyond taleis, really, but whatever. the magic of a seven year old mind, right?

he had ended up just going on a drive, but then hey thought, 'hey, why not go on a day trip to san diego?' it was that simple, really. he knows some people here, he may go around to see them later. get some food, go shopping, buy some ridiculously expensive clothes and headscarves and things. he really could go for a new pair of boots.

he left his headphones at home, but he doesn't mind. there's enough going on anyways, he doesn't need headphones. usually he just  brings them so he can have background noise, but there's plenty provided by nature. and shrieking children. actually, the shrieking children make him wish he had the headphones. focus on the nature, taleis. focus on the nature.

taleis made a face at the young girl playing by him, trying to get her to laugh. sure, it's relaxing laying in the grass and all, but children. little teeny tiny human beings with laughs like baby unicorns. or something along those lines, taleis honestly isn't even sure where he was going with that line of thought. point is, kids are great.

but then there's someone saying his name, and he glances up and - "andi?" he says, half in shock. he was nearly positive he'd never see her again.
