cole - naenia, legacy of pluto - eighteen - optio of fourth cohort

cole bustled happily into the greek prom dance, dressed up as superman. a silky, painfully tight body suit made of a thin neopren material pressed to his built chest; and smiled at a few greeks he knew, aswell as his roman friends. a son of mercury handed him a cocktail, which cole took gratefully and nodded at him. he pushed himself through the thrumming crowd, heading towards the spacier corner of the place. he high-fived a few people, and grinned back into the drunk faces of of-alcohol-smelling-people and evaded some dancing girls who grabbed him by the hand. he politely excused himself and pushed himself from their grasps. he flung himself towards a free bar table with two chairs; the same one he had sat at during the halloween dance -- the dance he had met lakisha. lakisha. cole smiled, tapping his fingers across the hard wooden surface of the table. he remembered how he had asked her to dance atleast four times, but she had refused bluntly. but this time cole wasn't going to give up. he had a goal this evening. eyes on the prize, baby. thats what his uncle bob used to say. huh. uncle bob. haven't seen him in a while, have i?

cole whistled innnocently and kept on the lookout.

Prom had already started for an hour as Lakisha stalked in, her mismatched eyes scanning the crowd. The dance floor was full, most of the tables and couches were occupied and the ground was a bit sticky... It smelled of sweet drinks and alcohol, warm food and expensive perfume, all mixed together in a scent that made Lakisha think of other dinner parties she had attended.

...Great. Really needed that right now.

The tall Swedish girl walked over to the bar, trying to spot Cole. The Roman had asked her to prom on several occasions and she had refused him each time until finally, she had said yes. She wouldn't really admit it but Cole was a rather... interesting guy and she had been thinking about him every now and then for the last few months. If she had refused him, it was simply because, well... she was neither a loving person nor a trusting person. (When I say she's not a loving person, I don't mean she can't love, I mean she doesn't love a lot of people.) Only persons she could say she liked were her father, Sol, Jea, and Cassy.
Oh, yeah, and Cole. Kind of.

Lakisha was dressed in a one-shoulder maxi gown, long and black and sweeping down to her ankles, sheathing her willowy body. Her left arm was coated in what looked like steel, with a red star on the shoulder, making it look like a mechanical arm. She was walking in sleek black ankle-strap heels, her eyes smokey'd with black and silver and her lips glistening with pomegranate-red lipstick.

Finally she spotted him -- Superman? Seriously?

"Good evening," she said as she was near enough for him to hear her over the music, her gaze lingering on the shape of his lips before snapping back up to meet his eyes.

cole turns his head to see- wow. no way. his prom date was not this person infront of him. she must be someone else... someone else cole didn't know. he clears his throat, and only then realizes that the girl infront of him had mismatched eyes. frick, that was lakisha. oh sh!t. keep cool. keep calm. chill out. he stares at her, and lets his eyes travel down to her legs and back up again. he tries not to bite his lip and wolf-whistle. because cole here had dignity. not. he didn't, more because he didn't want to mess stuff up. he had gotten this far, after all. going to prom with the daughter of khione seemed like some sort of weird dream to him.

"lakisha," he says quietly, "you look nice, as ever." he says and gives her a peculiar little sly smile of sorts. he hopes he doesn't look too weird. he holds out an arm and smiles. "m'lady?" he says and chuckles. "how about a dance? it's a good song they're playing, after all, we wouldn't want to let it go to waste." he adds in a low voice and nods at the dancefloor.

"You don't look too embarrassing yourself," she replied, a small smirk lingering on her glistening red lips. With that, she took his arm and walked with him over to the dance floor. It was quite crowded but they managed to squeeze into a spot and Lakisha put her elbows on his shoulders, her body gliding up and down against his. With all the surrounding human (well, demigod) heat and sweaty smells, it was nice to dance against someone who had cold skin like hers; it felt good.
She didn't know when she had last danced like this -- seven months ago maybe, when Spencer and her had gone to NYC for another one of their thieving escapades? Stealing stuff when dancing wasn't too tricky.

Lakisha raised her chin to look into Cole's eyes; they were dark and opaque like black coffee, she could see the reflection of a glittering strobe in one of them.

cole tries [i">not to pee in his pants from excitement. that would be rather embarassing. he smiles and puts his hands gently onto her waist, and begins moving a bit. cole hasn't danced for like... a year. in new rome, parties mainly consisted of wild raves and screaming. here it was more classy. kind of. "so, lakisha, what've you been up to?" he asks quietly, leaning in a teeeeeny tiny bit closer. he didn't want to make it too obvious that he was flirting with her, but she was smart, wasn't she? she had probably figured him out.
