    Jack Casillas Empty Jack Casillas

Post by Rick Sanchez 10/23/2015, 7:09 am

    Jack Casillas 0026c3d2_medium

Name: Jack Casillas, full name is Jack Arthur Casillas. At first, his mother browsed an entire category of Greek heroes names, until she finally thought to herself that the heroes all got a tragic ending (except Perseus, although she didn't like the name), so she decided to name in honour instead. Jack is the name of the first member of the Casillas family to arrive in America, sometime in the mid 19th century. Arthur is the name of Jack's uncle, who died a few years prior to his birth in a car crash.

    Gender: Masculine

Mortal Parent: Melanie Casillas - his mother never wanted to keep to her son how she met Deimos, until she summarized it to something like this: Melanie just got out of college and she was looking for a job. Finally, after many weeks, she found a job as an accountant. But as she returned home, some thugs ambushed her down the road and tried to rob her. Coincidentally, Deimos was walking on the same street and when he saw the thugs, he inflicted them with fear and terror, with horrifying images, which made them turned tail and ran, wailing for their mommies. Deimos escorted her home and they found each other attractive, so they went out for dinner, fell in love and Melanie was pregnant in 2 years, then Jack was born. The End.

God Parent: Deimos - the god of terror. Jack felt excited to find that his father was a god, until he realized that the god of terror is not really that cool, and it gets you into trouble a dozen times with monsters.

Date of Birth: June 24th, 1998 - Jack is currently 17, the age that he said "was his favorite" age, behind the age 16 and 19.

Place of Birth: Manhattan, New York - with Deimos's presence there when he was born

Hometown/Last Residence: East 47th Street, Manhattan, New York - Jack had to move to many places during his course of life. First, when he was born, his mother moved him to Germany (as Jack Casillas the First was a German who came to American, but some of the relatives remained in Germany and lived until today) to live with their relatives in order to disguise his demigod scent. After Jack "accidentally" made a kid in the nursery wailed and refused to contact, his mother took him back to New York. He spent most of his life there, until he moved to Camp Half-Blood and spend summers there.

Race/ethnicity: Caucasian - Jack is Northern American, although he has a bit of German blood in his (as his great-ancestor is German). But mostly, his German blood is considered gone.

Accent: Northern American - Jack was supposed to have a German voice because he went to live with his "evil" relatives, but since he had to leave Germany before he finished nursery and they never taught him how to speak properly (he can talk, but 100% wrong grammar and vocabulary). His mother began teaching him early before elementary school starts.

    Skin Tone: Light pale

Eye Color: Jack has light blue eyes, inherited from his mother and besides, he liked his eye color and most people do too.

Hair Color: Dark brown hair - his hair is the color of Deimos's hair at the time

Hair Length: He keeps his hair long down to his nape, but he keeps it cut all the time so that he doesn't look like a Emo.

Height: 5'5 (which is about 1m65)

Weight: 120 lbs (which is about 54 kilograms)

Body Type: In comparision toward other kids, Jack is relatively slimmer, but he is also a bit muscular, as he is able to punch unconscious a person most of the time.

Appearance: Jack has a turn-up nose, with a quite handsome face. He prefers to keep his hair straight and he has a wide forehead. On normal days, his typical kind of clothing would be a red t-shirt with absolutely no symbols on it. He wears casual jeans and white sneakers, sometimes he wears outside an ACDC jacket and a cap with the symbol of the main hacker protagonist from the video game Watch Dogs. Sometimes, instead of a red t-shirt, he would wear a t-shirt with the logo of the movie E.T The Extra Terrestrial, although he commented that "the movie sucked".

    Weapon:
Spear: Jack possesses a long spear with oak wood handle and a rather long Celestial bronze tip. However, it does not have any significant powers, just a regular spear.

Armor: Jack has a leather armor with straps on the side to keep his knife (if he had one)

Pet(s): Jack used to own a dog, but it passed away shortly before his 17th birthday (since his mother bought it when he was first bornt)

    Skills/Talents:
Athletic: Although this is a trait that neither Deimos nor Melanie Casillas had, Jack was still an athelete. He was relatively good at Parkour, and he's also a fast runner. Try outrun him for a change.
Fighter: Jack is strong and is a good fighter, although he avoids getting involved in fights. If he had to fight then he would and most of the time he wins. Otherwise he would run, as he is too lazy to stay and fight.

    Flaws:
High self-respect: Jack's got a lot of self-respect and he doesn't like being insulted in any form, otherwise he'll kick your butt, even if you're an Olympian (although he tries to avoid doing this occasionally)
Liar: Since he was young, he developed a powerful lying skill, and this would be the reason that his mom gets to beat him all the time. If he lies to a god, he might just get...well, banished to the Fields of Punishment or worse.
Impatience: Jack is extremely impatient. Tell him to sit down outside the clinic for 30 minutes to wait for the doctor, without any form of entertainment. He'll go straight home and muttering curses.
Control freak: Jack is used to be in control. He's the class monitor, he's the leader of his clan in-game,..., so he's pretty freaky over controlling others in real life (although he doesn't push them too hard, he only push them to the limit where their temper starts to flare)
Forgetfulness: Often, Jack can be forgetful of certain things and that could horribly harm their quest if they request him to remember something
Hip: Jack has a displaced bone on the hip that is treated regularly, but sometimes it would start to ache and he would be unable to move. Otherwise, it wouldn't hurt if it is treated regularly
Concave scar: Jack was born with a concave scar (about 5 cm) on his left leg. It is usually hidden when he wears jeans, but if he wears shorts, then well...try not to feel creepy when you stare at it.
Birthmark Jack was bornt with a birthmark on his head: a straight scar (about 10 centimeters) that can be visible completely by lifting up the hair part that's covering it.

    Strengths:
Athletic: With his athletic skills (mentioned above), Jack could easily get through (almost) any obstacles during any quest, as long as it ranges in his Parkour level
Combat: Melanie Casillas wanted all of the precautions, so she got Jack to go to a sword class too. Even though they fight with sticks (and it hurts too), Jack became a decent duelist when he was 10, and his skill improved during his stay at Camp Half-Blood. Currently, Jack is a skilled duelist (not the best skilled)

    Weaknesses:
Self-respect: Jack has a high self-respect for himself (mentioned in flaws), meaning that an opponent could insult him and get him to fall right into their trap.

Likes: Jack likes to read comic books ONLY (he hates books without pictures), because he's dyslexic. Jack loves Greek mythology and he got even more excited when he learned that they are all real. Jack also likes to do Parkour.

Dislikes: Jack hates books with 100% letters, due to his dyslexia. He dislikes studying (most kids do).

Fears: Jack has a fear toward Slenderman (although it's not real). He thinks that the man wearing suits and faceless standing randomly in your view, so you have to take a closer look at him and when you see him you're dead, Jack thinks it's kinda creepy.

Personality: Jack has a high self-respect for himself, and he doesn't like being insulted. He is shy sometimes when people compliment him. He is brave in most scenarios, but in certain ones he can be...not so bold. Jack is loyal towards his friend and he NEVER betrays anyone who he declared loyalty to. Jack is an optimistic person and he always think on the bright side of things, and he usually cheers everyone up when everything is going downhill.

    Abilities:
Jack does not have any ability. He mostly uses his powers.

    Powers:
Terror Infliction: Since Jack is the son of Deimos, he could inflict terror upon others. His power would grow to the max when his anger is flared, and the target would be the ones who angered him (uneffective against gods, obviously). If they happen to be one of his victims, if a character that includes the "Brave" personality would only shake, but anyone who doesn't have the trait would be scared in their own way (I mean like they control how they react, scream or wail) as horrifying images (only if they're scared toward it, TOO SCARED perhaps) being called upon them. Limit: 1 inflicting lasts for 3 posts with a 5 post cooldown. This power can affect 1 character per one infliction. In order to resist completely and easily, the character must include a bravery trait. Characters without the bravery trait can resist by thinking of happier images of delight to be able to resist. His powers could inflict a target from 10 meters away at most.

Terror Control: Sometimes Jack could choose which images to inflict upon his victims, but this power will be uneffective against a successful resistance

Social Status: Jack usually gets on good terms with almost everybody, as he is righteous and always stood up to protect the weak. At school, most nerds would consider them his "hero", as most of the times when bullies give nerds wedgies, he would somehow make the bully run away screaming. Thanks to him, bullying activities at his school was reduced from 90% to none. Although, girls don't like him when he does that trick, cause they think it's "creepy", like Jack's cursed or something. And he is single, since most girls do not like his Terror Infliction powers.

Summer or Year Rounder: Jack would only stay for the summer, and then he goes to school for the rest of the year, trying to lead a normal life. Although his mother really wanted him to stay at Camp Half-Blood for his protection and safety, he said he wants to become a regular kid. (Besides, he brings his weapon everywhere 24/7)

Years at Camp: Four - Jack first came to Camp Half-Blood when he was 13, escorted by his mom and a satyr, after an epic escape from storm spirits (or venti) that charged their car and got Lionel (the satyr) killed in the progress

Life Before Camp: Jack's life before camp was suffering during the time he stayed with his relatives. His mother took him to live with his wicked German relatives, to keep his demigod scent covered. They throw him to sleep in the basement, he had to eat bread crumbs for breakfast and sometimes he ate nothing at all. Jack's life went uphill when he "accidentally" drove a kid in the nursery too scared and the freaky relatives all "freaked" out, ending in sending him straight back to his mother. Melanie decided to NEVER contact those relatives again, once realizing how horrible they treat Jack. His mother gave him a good and happy life. Until he is 13, his mother revealed his half-blood identity and she called a satyr named Lionel, who was in Jack's school. They've been keeping in touch when Melanie saw Lionel's goat hooves at a school play in which Lionel took part in (Lionel's character was bare foot and Melanie could see through the Mist, mostly) She told Lionel to keep an eye on her son. When they drove to Camp Half-Blood, storm spirits flew down and attacked their ride. The car flipped and the storm spirits hurled it down the ocean (they were driving on a road near the seaside), but not before they escaped. Lionel managed to kill two of them before he himself was killed by the third one. But he managed to pull the guy by his sleeve and he dragged the storm spirit down the cliff, both plummeted to their deaths. His mom told him to find the gate with "Camp Half-Blood", then she sprinted down the hill to find a cab before more monsters show up. As for Jack, he made it to Camp afterwards.

Role-playing Example: (This roleplay is during the night that he arrived at Camp Half-Blood)
Jack looked out the car's window. Tonight was a heavy storm. The rain in the darkness consumed it all. Their Ford Explorer zoomed through the hillside. Nothing was visible until Lionel screamed.

    "DUCK!"

Lionel's yelling was too late, as the car flipped and all of the windows of the car shattered. Jack barely looked around as the water flooded in the car. The wind was howling crazily.

"GET OUT OF THE CAR NOW!" Lionel yelped again. He somehow got out faster than they did. Jack's mother grabbed his seat belt and both of them fell on the ground, all wet from the mud, just when the car started to shake. Jack looked sideways and saw that they were a few feet from falling down the cliff. The mud was making it slipping even faster.

"Here!" his mother cried and grabbed Jack's hand. She crawled out with Jack behind her. Melanie Casillas pulled him out right before a storm spirit crashed down at impossible speed and the car was hurled straight off the cliff. A large explosion shook the ground. The storm spirits land and took human form.

"Well well well, what do we have here?" one of them snorted. "A demigod, eh! It's been a while since we found any!"

"Because you're a terrible leader." one of them muttered in the back.

"This time I am sure he's one." the leader spoke.

"Let's just kill him already." one of them laughed. All of the storm spirits nodded in agreement. They glared at the three murderously.

    And they charged.

Lionel reached for a dagger that was strap on his belt. It's silver blade shone in the rain. They didn't realized it before. A storm spirit lunged at him and Lionel slashed the dagger to the left. PUFF! A cloud of dust remained under his feet. Jack thought Lionel looked like some sort of superhero in this rain, with his wet wavy hair from the rain and his clothes all wet, he looked like Spiderman who was saving Mary Jane without his mask in that Spiderman movie. Except that he fought with daggers instead of webs and his bare hands. Another one changed form and he flew right at Jack. Before the spirit could approach, Lionel threw the dagger and the storm spirit exploded. Lionel ducked to below Jack and picked up his dagger.

"Nice hit! NOW RUN!" Lionel wailed as another one shot at him. This time, he didn't dodge fast enough.

The storm spirit lunged at Lionel and pinned him to the ground. He stepped on Lionel's hand and the dagger fell off.

"Unarmed, are you?" the spirit taunted as he stepped on Lionel's arm. Lionel wailed. But the storm spirit didn't see Lionel's hooves coming at him from his back. The storm spirit was thrown over Lionel. Lionel managed to get back on his hooves and grabbed the dagger. The storm spirit staggered around, trying to process what was happening. And before he could shoot some "winds", Lionel grabbed his shirt sleeve. His knife raised in the air.

"Oh no you don't!" the storm spirit shot a column of wind straight in his chest. But he forgot that Lionel had his sleeve. And they both were hurled over the railing. The storm spirit tried to turn into wind form, but Lionel was holding him back.

"You're going down with me!" Lionel yelled as the both of them plummeted down the cliff toward their ultimate death, with the spirit hopelessly screaming "LET ME GO!"

"NOOOOO!" Jack shrieked as Lionel went out of sight. He tried to run to the railing, but his mother grabbed him by his waist.

"Jack..." Melanie Casillas touch him on his shoulder. "We have to go, now." Finally, Jack let go.

The both of them turned around and ran through the rain up the hill toward Camp Half-Blood. Jack's favorite t-shirt was brown colored from the mud. He was covering himself with his ACDC jacket. His shoes and socks were soaking and his entire body felt cold. His backpack was gone, so Jack figured he had to borrow some clothes at camp if they had spare laundry. Jack strapped the silver dagger to his side.

"Jack, you have to go on your own from here. I'll go get a cab or something. Remember to look out for a gate that says "Camp Half-Blood""

    "But Mom..."

"No buts!" she kissed him on the cheek "Now go!"

And he turned and ran, as more storm spirits shot down from the sky.

    Hometown/Last Residence:
    - Even though he wouldn't have had much control of his powers in nursery school, making a kid "go into a madhouse" is far too much.

    Weapon:
    - I don't think anyone would randomly find a weapon with a magical power like that in the armory.
    - Also don't think I'd allow this since he does have terror powers anyway.

He sort of does need armor since, you know, wars and all. It doesn't have to be something he likes to wear.

You need a physical distinction flaw in his Flaws section.

Add some more to the personality.

    Abilities:
    - Don't think this would work since Phobos controls more personal fears, while Deimos is more general. "Reading" their minds for this is pretty personal to me (and the phrasing should be changed).

    Powers:
    - As I said before: Deimos is more general with his fear-infliction, Phobos more personal. Inflicting the worst memories of their lives on them is usually personal, so make this more general.
    - How can people resist this power?
    - Since everyone will have a different reaction to seeing something scary, the part where you say they'll "scream and wail in agony" is thus redundant and should be removed.
    - Also, making anyone go "mad" because of this power would be far too much.
    - How far away at most could a person be in order to be affected by this power?
    - How many people at most could he use this on at one time?
    - For Terror Control, is there a chance this won't work if a person tries to resist the first power?

    LBC:
    - If Jack went to nursery school, someone would DEFINITELY notice if his relatives were starving him. Alter this.
    - Also, like I said before, driving a kid crazy in nursery school is too much even if he didn't know how to control his powers.
    - Mortals aren't allowed past the camp borders, so there's no way his mom would have gotten past too.

If he spent most of his formative years in Germany(like between 1-5), he would probably have a German accent or at least a partial German accent.

Spirit Reduce: In order to make his power work properly, Jack could decrease his victim's spirit so that even a brave one would lose his spirit and will be affected.

Explain this better, because right now I am not keen on it.

    Powers:
Terror Infliction: Since Jack is the son of Deimos, he could inflict terror upon others. His power would grow to the max when his anger is flared, and the target would be the ones who angered him (uneffective against gods, obviously). If they happen to be one of his victims, they would scream and wail in agony as horrifying images (only if they're scared toward it, TOO SCARED perhaps) being called upon them. Limit: 1 inflicting lasts for 3 posts with a 5 post cooldown. This power can affect 1 character per one infliction. In order to resist, the character must be fearless, brave, bold or either not afraid of the pictures they're seeing. The nearest to be affected would be at least 50 meters near him.

Okay, so, lemme see if I understand this: He can show terrifying images of death or destruction or something, which invade people's minds. The only way to resist is to be brave or not be afraid of the images?

    Abilities:
Spirit Reduce: In order to make his power work properly, Jack could decrease his victim's spirit so that even a brave one would lose his spirit and will be affected. This means that he would reduce the will in them, making them become more fearful. Then, his powers would work and

You didn't actually explain this any better. Are you saying that he has an aura of fear that he can inflict on people at will? Or that he has a general aura of fear that radiates off of him? If it's the first one, the answer is no.

    Powers:
Terror Infliction: Since Jack is the son of Deimos, he could inflict terror upon others. His power would grow to the max when his anger is flared, and the target would be the ones who angered him (uneffective against gods, obviously). In order to resist, the character must be awoken and snap out of the process by an outsider who wasn't affected. The nearest to be affected would be at least 50 meters near him.

You made this less easy to resist and then didn't clarify anything. This should be something that people are able to resist without needing an outside force. What I wanted last time was clarification on how this worked.

I was reading your RP example again, and I don't think any monster would be able to identify his godparent before he was claimed. It was only suspected for Percy, and he was the son of a Big 3.

Okay, let me give this one more try on spelling out what I want to know from Spirit Reduction, or I'm just going to veto it entirely.

Who does it affect? How does it affect them? How long does it affect them? How close does he have to be to affect them?

Now for the power - NO to knocking anyone unconscious with it. Unless they are extremely prone to fainting from fear, and that would be the choice of the player's character. Fearful images yes, images fearful enough to full incapacitate someone or knock them unconscious no.

For his accent... I don't think accents are inheritable, so you should change that bit about him inheriting Deimos'.

    Flaws:
    - For his physical flaw, I think it'd be pretty serious in any case if a monster strikes your hip (or, hell, at all)? Try adding another one.

    Powers:
    - Like I said before in one of my first posts and which Zargo has also said, you don't get to decide how other people react to seeing these visions -- so you should remove the "screaming and wailing in agony" part.
    - To clarify: Are you implying the character's written personality must include the brave/bold traits? Your phrasing there is sort of confusing since if we're talking about executed personalities, just saying they "must be brave/bold" or such would be much better.
    - And you're gonna need to give them a way to awaken themselves.
    - Do you mean the nearest person to be affected by his power could be 50 meters away at most? The "at least" part implies he could have a wider range.
    - Also, you'll need to cut that down to around 10 meters at most.

    LBC:
    - I'm assuming you saying he drove a kid "crazy" in nursery school is just exaggeration since you say something rather different about the situation in his Hometown/Last Residence section?
    - "Jack inflicted them with fear and eliminated them all while they were distracted." --> I realize he had some training practice before coming to camp and with used his power on them a bit, but I sort of doubt he'd be able to kill all three venti.

    You haven't altered/added a physical distinction flaw.

    Powers:
    - "if a character that includes the "Brave" personality would only shake" --> Again. Do not assume you know how people will react. The entire part about how people will react (the "scared in their own way" part) is redundant, so remove it.
    - When you're doing ranges, you're supposed to have an "at most" range, not an "at least." (Example: Only a person within a 10 ft radius can be affected by this power.)

    LBC:
    - Again. I doubt he would have been able to eliminate all three venti. Even if his power was triggered by anger, they probably wouldn't have been so quickly eliminated, if at all, by a very untrained demigod.

I believe one physical flaw should be enough? The bone is vulnerable, and enemies can hit it and he'll be stunned from it.

    Powers: Fixed.

LBC: At that part, Jack made them all being distracted with his powers. They wouldn't fight since they are busy fighting terrifying images within their heads. And so, any untrained guy could strike them all down with a couple slashes. Besides, he is trained. If you look at the "strengths" part, you'll see that he went to sword class and I don't think fighting with a Celestial bronze knife is different from fighting normal swords much.

Think of physical flaw not so much as "physical" but as "cosmetic". Something that detracts from his physical appearance.

Cosmetic flaws should be natural, rather than... rewearing the same clothing for multiple days in a row.

    LBC:
    - I already acknowledged in one of my posts that I know he's been trained in combat to some degree, but fighting regular humans is different from fighting storm spirits that can control wind and to some degree electricity. Even with his power triggered by anger, that wouldn't make them blind to the rest of the world and would definitely see him coming after them -- they're not gonna give out that easily.

    Added!

LBC: He's not fighting them. He struck them down. Basically, when they were flooded with these pictures, they all wailed and got to distracted to fight the images and of course, everyone would try to endure a pain by slamming their eyes shut. So of course, because they were unable to fight, Jack simply sliced their throats easily or just stab them. (since they weren't doing anything paticularly) But anyways, I made them in a position they literally totally CANNOT fight back.

.... "Reverse lump"? Is this some sort of concave wound whose shape is still visible under his skin? (And this wouldn't count as natural....)

    LBC:
    - That's still a fight? They attacked Lionel first and the fight moved on to Jack, so I don't see how your first point stands. As for the second part -- even if his anger flared I don't think his power would be strong enough to incapacitate all three of them to that degree where they wouldn't be able to fight back at all. So either change this part or we're not moving on.

How large is this concave indent under his skin? (I should note that "concave" is an adjective in this context, not a noun.)

Other than the physical flaw stuff you're good.
