Halloween Dance 2015 [Common Topic]

August stood off to the side, his arms crossed over his chest as he glares at everyone around him, watching as they have fun and dance with their friends. He didn't usually like going to these sorts of things but Halloween was his favorite time of the year, meaning he could scare the living hell out of little kids. But this year he was dressed as Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He figured that it fit his personality and come on, who doesn't love giant mutant ninjas with weapons? August had a bright red mask over his eyes and he wore a strap-on green shell on his back. he also got some Hephaestus kid to make an exact replica of Raphael's sword thingies, even if he had to use a little threatening. He had the swords tucked into another piece of bright red fabric that was tied around his waist. He stood there with a frown on his face having no fun whatsoever.

Andrew walked into the hall, his faithful companion Netha was on his side. Of course, there was no such thing as putting a costume on Netha. The wolf was far too stubborn and adamant to allow that, even if it was Andrew. So, Andrew had to accommodate for her, deciding ultimately to dress up as the only good icon he could think of that fit with a wolf. Link, from the Legend of Zelda. The getup was sorta odd on Andrew, especially with his lack of correct hair color. But there he was, in his entirety, with a funny green hat and tunic on. He still looked good though, at least that's what he told himself.

Netha looked up to him, as though she was deeply disappointed. She had sat down on the ground when Andrew had quit pacing and had given her usual scan of the room before looking up at her dear friend.

"Oh, come on. It's not that bad." Andrew insisted, looking down at his furry companion.

Netha's judgmental gaze didn't budge.

"Look, we'll only stay for a little while. Then we'll go hunting. I promise."

Netha's head titled, her gaze still judgemental to her companion.

"No, I won't wear this." Andrew insisted.

Maverick Yamamoto

Maverick went with Lee on to the dancefloor. He wasn't really much of a dancer, he just moved his body according to the eargasmic mixes of the DJ, the drinks kind of helped too. You know what, this party is not half bad, I am starting to enjoy it Maverick went on and on, getting his groove on and letting the world fade into his peripherals, getting lost on the dance floor. Seriously getting lost as he kind of strayed off from Lee, bumping to other kids, joining their "dance circle" or whatever. Parteeeeyyyy he screamed. It was one of his first real parties, one which he was free from bullies in his hometown.

Leandra looked a little reluctant as she entered the dance floor with Nika, she didn't have her cane with her and she was suddenly focused on the idea that she could end up wounded in a Graecii camp with some Graecus healer. Then Nika made the comment about pretending they weren't Greek.

"Two millennia of war between the Graecii and Romans. It'll take me a little while to trust Greeks bearing gifts. Or glasses of punch." She said, having to raise her voice to be heard above the noise and music. "And I don't know these people. I know everyone in New Rome."


Galena hadn't come to the last dance, but this was Halloween. Who didn't love Halloween? Also, she had the most ridiculous costume ever and it was awesome. She had on her regular jeans and sneakers, but a T-shirt with a very peculiar design. On the front and back it showed a silkscreened cartoon of a painting flying over an archery target. Her talent as an artist was fairly lacking, but she had made it look reasonably identifiable enough.

The blonde looked around, then spotted Lee spinning on the dance floor already. She seemed to be near a guy that she didn't know. Was Lee dancing with someone? Or just being friendly? Galena felt a surge of protective jealousy come over, but she pushed it down and headed for her friend. "Hey! Lee! Who's the dude? Spill it. All the juicy details."

"Aw. thank you so much, JK! I was trying to do a modernized version of him." That was one of Alex's male Disney villains of all time. The son of Demeter took a sip of his drink before excusing himself to go get himself a refill. "I'll be back ladies." He smiled and headed toward the punch bowl.

Salem knitted her eyebrows together in thought before nodding her head. "Oh, yes! Now I remember. I figured you were one of Alex's siblings." She moved a strained of hair from her face before crossing her legs underneath her long dress.

Cameroon was excited to finally come to Camp Half-Blood. Of course he heard about it, but never had to the chance to come. For his costume, he decided to come as a zombie. He wore torn dress clothes with greyish blue paint on his face and hands. The son of Mercury was getting down on the dance floor, dancing like there was no tomorrow.

Galena shook her head at Lee, unable to comprehend how Lee managed to get a dance with a guy she just met. Although Lee exceeded in socializing, and Galena was a bit more reserved most of the time. "You realize it would take me three months and probably a bar of xannies to be able to ask a guy to dance with me, and you just succeeded with a guy you've never met and did it fast enough there isn't any lascivious gossip for me to vicariously enjoy?"

She didn't wait for a response before she flashed a small flask from her pocket. "Wanna spike the punch bowl?"

Andy heard something over the music about a dress size and not wearing it even if it fit. She knew it was about her, she doubted many other campers would go this rout with costumes, but in all honesty she didn't care one iota. It was actually comical to her. The fact that the group went through such trouble to make her 'feel bad' about her outfit was great and just put her in a better mood. After giving her plan of attack some thought she turned and saw Cleo leading the group. Typical. she thought to herself. Blowing a kiss in the general direction of the group she snickered and went back to dancing with her friends, getting close with Kili who was dressed in a Steampunk outfit, and having a grand old time. The two were like siblings in the best of ways and when Kili parted her own way to go and hang out with the other Hecate children Andy went back to dancing like she did in the club when Lena took her a few times.

Roslyn wasn't much into dances. Not in a cliche 'ew I hate fun and everyone' sort of way, it was more of a safety concern to be frank. Dancing in large crowds + chronic clumsiness was definitely a recipe for disaster, so she decided to sit this one out for the time being. Sat on one of the stray chairs in a corner of the area that the dance was being held at, she tried her best not to mope like a sorry sally. Dolled up in an over sized knit brown sweater and a black skater skirt, her outfit was pretty plain if not for the makeup on her face. Having fired up the good old makeup tools she kept buried under her bunk in the Apollo cabin, Roslyn had pretty successfully transformed her features to fit that of a Deer. Realistic looking Antlers perched on her head, she adjusted some of the flowers that lined the top of her headpiece like a pretty flower crown. Humming a tune under her breath as she focused on the bumping music flowing from the speakers, she let her eyes drift close in a bit of a meditative state. If she didn't focus on the people dancing, then maybe she wouldn't feel so bad!
Roslyn's hand moved down to grip the edge of her seat, kicking her legs like a child's as she did so. Halloween was pretty fun, she'd always went trick or treating with her mom back in Philly, and while her costume's hadn't been one of those flashy, mass-produced Halloween store ones, they'd always been creative in the costume department. Heck, she was a music note for the holiday for three years straight. Now that she was separated from her mom during this time of year, she had to take matters into her own hands. Eyeing down all of the costumes other campers had worn this year, she suddenly felt a surge of self-consciousness. Was she over-dressed? Her eyebrows knitting in a concerned expression, Roslyn's hand snaked up to toy with the high-as-Hades collar of her shirt. Thank the gods she hadn't gone with her original idea of being the literal sun for Halloween, that would have indeed been quite awkward for the daughter of Apollo.

Feeling rather exhausted from the nonstop partying, Maverick decided to have a rest for awhile. Scrunching his eyes, he realized that he did not know any of the people around him, he then decided to search for his friends. Lee? Russ? Hermes people? where are you? he shouted in vain as the loud Electonic Dance Music being played drowned out his voice. After he circled the dance floor looking for them, his wobbly knees decided to give up, so he grabbed a drink and sat on a bench near an old gnarled tree decoration, or was it real?

He sat, breathing heavily as he sipped his drink watching more and more people joining the dancefloor. He knew he wanted to dance some more but he's just too tired, maybe later after he replenishes his energy, he thought.

Finally feeling the blasting music of the dance being finely ingrained into her skull, the quiet daught of Apollo moved a hand up to rub one of her temples. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy techno dance beats from time to time, but only in teeny tiny moderation did she tolerate it at most. Movement in the corner of her eye line catching her attention, she turned her head to focus her attention on whatever it was to be. Scanning the boy that had sat not too far away from her on a bench near one of the many trees. A sudden humming emitted from the silent girl. Should she go say hi or not? It was always good to make friends, and Roslyn surely needed extra practice in that category.
Pushing herself to her feet carefully, she aligned her center of balance perfectly before shuffling over the few steps that separated them. Deciding in a split second not to go all out and go the extra mile of friendliness, she sat one seat down from him. Though she tried to be inconspicuous about it, her wide doe-like eyes gave him a once over before speaking.
"Loud dance, isn't it?" Her lilting voice softly carried, and if he hadn't been listening intently, it probably would have been lost in the sound of the music most likely.

While catching his breathe on a bench near the gnarled trees, Maverick swore that he was alone when a moment later a girl was about a seat away from him. Though he couldn't make out how she looked like from his poor eyesight, not wearing his glasses and the disco lights really helped in making him bat-blind, his hearing however is sharp that he was able to hear what the girl said. Uh yeah, super loud.... the bass uhm really is set to full volume and full banging Maverick again struggled with socializing with a girl with his Japanese English really not helping improve his skills. Are you tired also? From the dancing? Maybe you want punch? I will get you if you want.  Maverick squinted as he talked to the girl like she was about 10 feet away.

Not even seeming to realize the boy was somewhat struggling to talk to her, Roslyn seemed to zone her focus on him even more. A tiny smile pulling at her lips in a quite friendly look, she moved her legs up to a criss-cross apple sauce position on the chair she sat on. What he said next made a giggle bubble from her, one that seemed to fill the air in its soft tone despite the loud music that blasted nearly a few feet away.
"I'm not that tired, I haven't been dancing since well... it'd be like World War III if I did, if you get what I mean." The small smile that seemed to dance on her lips before, grew into more of a full fledged one as she picked at the hem of her black skater skirt in a fleeting way. The sleeves of her knitted sweater being quite long, they were pulled up enough that the end of the sleeves tucked into her closed palms of her hands, so they resembled little sweater paws that she moved to rest in the center of her lap of her crossed legs. Noticing his squinted eyes, Roslyn scooted forward a bit more in her seat as if to help him see her more. "I'm Roslyn, by the way." The daughter of Apollo spoke in a amiable soft tone, though it held much more quiet excitement at the prospect of meeting someone new.

Hi Roslyn, I'm..... I'm..... he suddenly panicked as the girl moved closer. I'm gonna get some punch he he I'll be back. Maverick eagerly stood up and went for the refreshment stand. Upon reaching there he paused awkwardly and tried to breathe deep breaths. Ahrg! I was an idiot! Why did I panicked like that? he thought to himself. She was a nice girl though, Hmm maybe if I picked just the right drink and get back, maybe she wouldn't think I'm a wuss he told himself while choosing from a wide selection of drinks. He picked a nice pink cocktail on a margarita glass with an umbrella and a lemon slice on the side. Here, maybe she'd like this, it's pink after all....

Roslyn's eyes widened in slight confusion as the boy raced away suddenly. Had she scared him off? Tilting her head, she let a small frown tug the corners of her lips down. A small sigh of disappointment escaping her, she forced herself not to feel too down and out. He'd said he was going to get punch after all, maybe he didn't plan on ditching her full out. And, she hadn't even been told his name yet! A small prickle of excitement spiking in her heart, she waited with a silent, patient demeanor.
Resting her elbows in her knees, Roslyn rested her chin on relaxed fists, moving her gaze to study the dancing mass before her yet again. Slowly zoning out in a quiet absentmindedness, the pounding music sounded like background noise at best.

With a last deep breath, he held onto the two drinks in his hand, one Pink Margarita for Roslyn and one Bloody Mary for him. He retraced his steps, maneuvering slightly to avoid the dancing masses straying away from the dance floor and reached the bench were he was seating a moment ago finding Roslyn focused on the dance floor. Hey, uh, for you Maverick's hand shaking while he handed over the Pink Margarita to Roslyn. My... My name is Maverick by the way... he uttered. Nice to meet you... he traced off not knowing what to say or do next.

A bright smile graced the lips of Roslyn at the sudden appearance of the guy from before, the kind smile being directed towards him, she nodded her head in thanks as she took the drink from him. Hoping it didn't have alcohol in it, she sniffed it once before taking a small sip of it as he introduced himself. "Likewise, it's a pleasure to meet you too. " Chirping this in reply, her smile to seem to even grow. Noticing his sudden silence, she patted the seat nearest her, more of a suggestion rather than a demand to sit. "So who's kid are you?" Deciding to spark up casual conversation, she let her voice raise only slightly, barely just below a normal speaking tone.

Maverick seated next to Roslyn just as she gestured. My dad is Hephaestus, y'now God of Smithery, Fire, Inventions and the like.... he answered. His face suddenly turned reddish with embarrassment Well, as you might have observed, I look differently from my siblings, act differently at that too....., I don't really know, I'm just, well, different... he said while hanging his head down, his expression broods as he sympathizes with himself.

Russ cheered and hurried out of sight to behind the bleachers. He knew that his sister's phone contained lots of cool hack-related programs. Score! Now he could mess around with this baby.

The phone booted. A large line of "Welcome Lee!" appeared on the screen, but quickly fade as the home screen appeared. Russ's first impression was Dayum Lee put a lot of stuff in this. The screen was scattered with hacking apps. And an idea struck Russ. He started the "Soundtrack Exploit" (designed by Lee). The app was designed for even goofballs can use it.

Russ pointed the phone at the speaker and Shia Lebeouf's motivation song "Just do it! Nothing is impossible. Just do it! Yesterday you said tomorrow!" Russ giggled as he turned off the app and the music went back.

Galena grinned like a Cheshire cat when JUST DO IT started on the speakers and Lee also agreed to spike the punch. It was perfect timing really. She moved towards the punch line, sliding the flask over to Lee. "Alright, Flash, let's loosen these demigods up. Quick, while they're distracted."

Andrew scoffed at the Shia LaBeouf display. "Man, people are still beating that dead horse of a meme? It's gotta be nothing left but bones." Andrew paused for a second. "Ha. Bones. Because it's a skeleton and skeletons are Halloween-ey." The demigod said, as though he had never been more proud of himself. "The point is, that meme should have been let go of the second John Cena got a resurrection. I swear, some people just can't let it go. On that note, there's an oddly low amount of Elsa's around..."

Netha simply stared at Andrew as he talked to her. Andrew didn't speak wolf, but he imagined that right about now she was trying to say something like "I hate you" or "If you died tonight, I wouldn't be upset."

"You're no fun." Andrew complained, scanning the room afterwards. He spotted people he knew, but he'd already made up his mind on who he was going to bother first. Having close friends meant you could crash their dates, otherwise it just wasn't really friendship then, was it? "Netha, do your thing. Whatever uh. Wolf things you can do in a dance hall. I guess just stare at people and think about how much you hate them."

Netha did just that.

Andrew approached Killian fast, immediately throwing his arm around the son of Nemesis. "My man!" Andrew exclaimed at his friend. Sure, it was rude in some ways, but it was just a part of being a friend of Andrew's. "Your costume is, dare I say it, angelic. I might even go as far as to call it divine. I swear, you really hit the holy grail with this one, Killian." Andrew spouted off his puns freely, though he imagined if Netha could hear that she was more disappointed than ever.

"C'mon, get some punch with me and then I'll get you back to the dance floor safe and sound. How's your night going? Heavenly?" Andrew asked, getting a kick out of himself as he began to tug on Killian towards the punch bowl.

Nika thought about what Leandra had told her, and even though she did have some validity to her points, Nika was still naive and she joined at a time where the Greeks and Romans were slightly more okay with other. More so in her first week she met a Greek boy who ended up to be quite nice, so she has no negative formed opinions. Not yet anyways.

"Well that's why you make an effort to know the Greeks, I know they seem to breed more like rabbits so there's a vast majority of them but you have to try at some point right?" Dominika asked and she scanned the room until her eyes were laid on the refreshments table. "Do you want to get some punch?"

"Okay, fine, punch... But I'm pouring it myself. I don't trust the Greeks enough to let them pour." Leandra said stubbornly. She looked around at all of the people in costumes and noticed there were also a lot of dogs, and one very disapproving looking wolf. "Are the Greeks obsessed with dogs, or what? I mean, dogs don't dance. Do you see anyone you know?"
