Maybe The First Date

"I always wondered how we fitted the picture. But that question is for later." Jack shrugged. "So anyway, I want to see this volcano in the centre of the island." he said. "You comin'?"

"Volcano?!"I exclaimed, my eyes widening as I took a step back terrified, "How can you be sure it won't just go boom in your face?"

"It's an inactive volcano. Dead for hundreds of years. It's safe." Jack chuckled.

"Oh"I nodded in understanding. 'And we can go in? Like, see the inside of a real volcano? Is there magma and lava? Won't it be too hot? Isn't there always a fear of it waking up? I've heard stories of monsters living inside volcanoes from the kids at camp. Is it true?"

Jack laughed. "Obviously not. The magma has cooled. And those liars...Imma get them. But no, we're perfectly safe entering a volcano."

"Oh, okay then. Let's go, why are we still waiting?!"I exclaimed and grabbed his hand and tugging him behind me as I ran forward before I suddenly stopped. "Uh, where are we going again?"

Jack whistled for a cabbie, then told him to drive to the centre of the island. During the trip he gazed outside, looking at all the GameStops he was gonna pay a visit. Eventually they stopped at the volcano attraction. "Here we are."

"Wow"I gasped as I got out of the cab, staring up at the huge mountain-like volcano. "A-are you sure it's okay?"I said, dread suddenly overcoming my senses as my eyes fell on the huge crowd waiting for their turn.

"Of course not. Come on." Jack joked, grabbing Layla's hand and dragged her through the crowd. People were sorta shoving each other to get to the front. Then they waited for the line to proceed.

"Um, oh, okay"I mumbled as I following him, sometimes stumbling over my legs but managing to keep up with him. As we finally stopped, I moved as close to him as I could and wrapped both my arms around his waist in a tight hug, resting my head on his arm.

Jack hugged Layla tighter as the line proceeded. When it was their turn he led her inside the cable and they went up through the crater of the volcano. "Ah, don't worry, if I'm assuming you're worrying. These cables are steel. They're fine."

"Y-yeah. Of course. Steel cables"I muttered, pulling myself away from him since I figured I was making him uncomfortable. "So, uh, have you ever gone into a volcano before?"

"Nope. Mother never let me come to any islands. Particularly because we didn't have the money back then." Jack shrugged. "But now we're in a volcano."

"Yeah"I mumbled but then giggled as realization hit me. "We're inside a volcano! We're inches away from one of the worst natural disasters possible!"I laughed. "This is so.... strange!"

"And the thing is: it's no longer a natural disaster. At least here." Jack chuckled. "Trust me, it won't go off for a few more decades. Hopefully centuries."

I frowned at his last comment but then giggled again as I thought of something else."We're demigods! Two natural disasters inside a bigger natural disaster!"

"Then if a monster comes, just know I'll be on your side. Always." Jack shrugged. "We got each other's back, right?"

"Always"I replied quickly and tilted my head to the side. "Are you questioning my loyalty?"
