The Lonely Basement

Demetri wandered into the Big House, hoping to hide from the day that meant people talking and shouting and...ugh. She couldn't just take it yet. After a friendly nod to Chiron, her feet led her down the stairs and into a basement. "Wow, I didn't even know that this existed." She mumbled quietly, tracing her fingers over an assortment of old books. Demetri sighed and sat down in the crook between a dresser and a a shelf, gingerly turning the pages through an old copy of Pride and Prejudice.

Demetri's ears perked up. Was it just her or...or did she just hear Jim? She stood automatically---cursing when she hit her head on an open drawer---and called for him quietly. "J-Jim?" It was pathetic. Why would Jim be down here out of all places to be at in camp? Then again, why was she here?

"Jim!" Demetri smiled broadly when she heard that familiar accent and a crash and threw her book down and hopped over boxes and dusty objects to get to a door that was kind of obviously open. Her face lit up when she saw Jim and Othello there, like, right there in the room. She couldn't believe it---she hadn't seen him in months. "Jim...are you okay?" She asked, frowning at wherever the noise came from.

Demetri ran towards him with her arms open, ready to embrace him. She hugged him to her, laughing and tearing up at the same time. "Where have you been?!" Demetri demanded, smiling some.

Demetri's smile melted some, a pang of jealousy hitting her square in the chest. She didn't come from anywhere special, like he had. The feeling dissipated quickly when she thought about how much she missed him...Gods, she missed him so much. Demetri reached up on her toes and kissed his cheek. "'Course I don't. Everything's fine, it's alright. I was just...worried." She pulled away to look at him, still holding onto his arms. "Was it fun?"

Demetri smiled sadly, tearing up again. That was...just about the sweetest thing that she had ever heard. She looked at the ground shyly as her cheeks grew a pretty shade of pink. "That's so sweet." Demetri laughed some, biting her lip. She didn't want to tell him about the, ah...."incident" when she caught a certain stalker peeking from a bush by her cabin.

I could hear the sudden sorrow, the bitter sweetness in her voice. Did she... Perhaps... Have a boyfriend? I mean, I could understand if she did... I just up and left, after all. "Did you... Did you wait for me?" I asked quietly.

Demetri nodded honestly. "Of course I did." She looked at him oddly, trying to detect something in his body language. He had figured out that she was hiding something. "I mean, ew. There are no other guys at camp that I'd even be remotely interested in, if that's what you're implying." Demetri bit back a laugh; that was such a ridiculous worry. Though she was afraid that what she did might be equal to that.

Ooc: Beautiful? Stunning? Smexy slice of man cake?

She decided to be truthful: she had no other choice since her father's occupation. "Do you remember that Randel kid that I beat senseless? My sister and I did it again." She said quickly, then held her breath with her eyes closed, waiting for what she was sure would be a loud or unsettling or...something else reaction.

"Calm down." She laughed gently and sat down on a box, petting Othello. "He was wandering around outside of the cabin. I found him hidden in a bush with a knife. I freaked out...." She looked down in shame.

"Oh my god! He's... He's crazy! He could've killed you!"

OOC Wasn't Randy in love with Amber at some point?

"He explained why he was there." Demetri added. "He was looking for his lost girlfriend....the knife was for the harpies. I wish we had listened to him before....you know." She put her face in her hands and shook her head. "I was being stupid. I didn't interrogate him enough before. If it weren't for Dimitra, he would have been dead." Reckless.... The word echoed around her skull, a term she'd been called so many times.

Ooc: Trevor or Malec? Because I was saving Trevor for a certain person with an obsession with his face *stares pointedly*

"Don't be sorry. It was his fault for sneaking around in the bushes," I did my best to console her.

He was right, of course. However Demetri couldn't blame anyone but herself for this one. "I just...I just reacted on impulse. I need to learn how to fix that." She looked up at him, pouting slightly. "Thank you, though."
