Jana Kay realized too late she had been flying to close to the ground. Panicked, she pulled the reins to the left and Crop opened his wings, missing the tree by an inch.
Her heart was still pounding hard as she flew upwards in the sky and she sneeked an eye over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of James.
There he was, flying with majesty on Wave.
She raised a hand.
- I owe you my life! she yelled to him.
She meant it, and made Crop spin around, making him fly towards her friend.

Jana's green eyes looked left and right before stopping on a little island, in the middle of the lake.
- There! she yelled, pointing at it. The first one who passes it is the winner! HEEEY!, she cried to quicken Crop, while kicking his sides.
The pegasus jumped forward and dove into the sky, moving his legs like he were galloping. His wings made a powerful motion and Jana Kay sensed the muscles rolling under the coat.
The wind blew her hair into her face and for a moment, her nose was filled with their sour-sweet fragrance of green apples. She grabbed them and put them back quickly, kicking Crop's sides again.

The girl's smile widened. She was glad that James was happy. In fact, she was happy as well. Come on, she was on the back of a Pegasus, ten feet above the ground, laughing with a boy who would surely become one of her best friends, what could she ask for more?
