by Geniosity 6/16/2012, 8:25 pmSuddenly, a hellhound appeared from behind Meave. "Uh, that's great, Lilith, but I have to go." I drew my dagger and hopped around to confront the hellhound. I pressed a button and out of the hilt a blade appeared! I charged at the growling creature.

Maeve was snapped out of her reverie. "Stop that!" She said and shadow traveled to the hellhound. Maeve lay her hand on one side of it's muzzle and the monster stopped growling and lay down. Then she drew one of her Stygian Iron swords to deflect Aster's blade.

"Thank you." Maeve said nicely. She was back in control, Lilith had receded. Maeve sat on the ground next to the hellhound and scratched it's chin. "You wouldn't hurt anyone, would you?" The hellhound looked up at Aster with bloodshot eyes and whimpered.

"Whoa. That's so cool." I said. Being the daughter of death made you not really afraid of hellhounds. I pet it. "Wanna name it?" I said.

"Lilith, that's a rosy name. I thought her therapist hated you." Lilith was getting really annoying. "Do I have permission to slap you?" I said to Maeve. "And I like... Jackie. Yeah, Jackie the hellhound. I guess that name fits for boys and girls, because I don't know what Jackie is. Anyways, permission to slap you?" I held my hand up evilly.

Maeve tried valiently to keep from smiling. Aster seemed like a cool person. "Jackie's a perfect name. Sorry, Aster, Lilith woun't feel it if you slap me. I, however, will. So please, no slapping. That was a stupid idea of Lilith's." Jackie the hellhound thumped her tail in agreement and licked Aster's face.

"Ah, down Jackie!" I laughed. It was the first time I had laughed since... Since... Argh! Why was thinking about that? Doh! My face went from frivolous to serious. "Yeah, but I don't know whether or not you actually WANT Lilith here, so... Yeah." I was actually happy, now, for the first time ever.
