Selena Rivera's Bunk Empty Selena Rivera's Bunk

Post by Josh 8/9/2012, 2:04 pm

I went to the nearest empty bunk and put my stuff down. "Mum forgot to mention I'd be staying here for quite a long time..." I sighed. I unpacked my stuff, and decided to head out. "If I'm stuck here, I may as well go and meet some people."

Post by Josh 1/31/2013, 11:38 am

I walk into the cabin again with Selena. It was empty at the moment. I released her arm and then shrugged. "Well, welcome to my home." I say to her, indicating to my bed in front of us. It was a mess at that moment, so I quickly tidied it up, I didn't want to look a slob in front of Maelstrom.

"I think after today's events, it's probably best if we have a shower. You can use one of my towels as well, and then once your done, we'll find some clothes for you." I say happily, passing her a towel, and then indicating to my quite full closet. I had a huge selection of clothes, from dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, blouses, t-shirts, jackets, hoodies, and so on. It was pretty much completely full. My drawers were full as well. I think I had too many clothes...
I leave Maelstrom for a moment to have a quick shower.

Post by Guest 1/31/2013, 1:15 pm

As soon as Selena left her so she could take a shower, Maelstrom starts to cry. Not sad tears though. They were tears of happiness. Maelstrom had never felt the way she did now before, so her body and mind were both reacting oddly. She didn't know what to do. Despite her tears, she was smiling, which would make her a weird sight to anyone who walked into Selena's cabin. Good thing no one did though. That would make her cry tears of sadness most likely.

The girl sits down on Selena's bed as she waits for Selena to get done with the shower. It would probably be a while, so she decides to lie down and close her eyes. She didn't fall asleep, she just lied there, thinking. She was so happy for Selena. Happy that someone finally wanted to be her friend. She was happy that she could have a friend. Someone who wouldn't ridicule her every minute of her life. That was how all her past 'friendships' had been, explaining why she had such bad trust issues. She was starting to warm up to the girl and trust her more. She knew as a fact that she wasn't there to tear her down, but instead build her up.

Lying there on another girl's bed, Maelstrom finally felt as if she was starting to live up to her expectations. Not what everyone else expected, which was nothing, but to what she expected herself to be. Who she wanted to be. She could never have done it on her own. Selena filled that gap and was allowing for Maelstrom to actually be happy with herself. If only other people would think good of her, she would think her life was close to being complete. It may be an odd goal, but it was what Maelstrom wanted.

I finish in the shower and step out into the room again, my towel wrapped around me. I stand there in the doorway for a moment and just look at Maelstrom. She was lying down on my bed with her eyes closed. I smiled happily. There were tears on her face, but the smile on her face suggested they were tears of happiness rather than tears of sadness. I was happy for her, she was finally beginning to feel happy.

I stand there and watch her for a moment, but then I lean over and pass her a towel gently. "Shower's all yours." I tell her, I also let her know she could use my wash stuff. I started to change under the towel before she moved into the other room though. And, I'd need to have a root through the closest, find some things for Maelstrom.

Maelstrom gets up off the bed and wipes her eyes, but she tried to make it as if she was just wiping tiredness from her eyes. It would be kinda embarrassing if Selena saw that she was crying. She walks briskly to the other room that contained a shower. She slowly shuts the door behind her so it doesn't slam or make any loud noises. She could already feel a headache coming on; she didn't want to provoke it at all. Once the door is shut, she turns on the shower and strips down to nothing as she waits for the water to heat up. She didn't feel like taking it under freezing water.

It took her a few moments to figure out how to take off the odd metal cast that was caked on her arm. She figures out that there were three metal latches that held it together on the side of it. She undoes the latches and the metal cast fall to the floor with a clang. The noise hurt her head, but not too badly. She slowly moves her broken arm to the side of her body and lets it hang limply. Her arm was wrapped up in cloth and then covered in a thin sheet of plastic to make it waterproof. A pain crawled up her arm as she put it down, but the girl was able to bear it.

Maelstrom slowly walks to the shower, being extremely cautious not to bang her arm on anything. She makes it into the shower without hurting it, and lets the warm water embrace her.

I heard her metal arm collapse onto the floor. I cringed for a moment, but when I could hear movement, I could tell everything was fine, so I didn't bother calling through to check how she was. I wave my hand over my hair, and most of the water comes out, I left some moisture as you do, the water hovered above my head, so I moved it and dropped it into a sink. I moved to my drawers and got a plain-white t-shirt on, then I grabbed a blue skirt as well and put them on. I got out my sandals as well and flicked them on.

I then sat and waited for Maelstrom, whilst I was waiting though, I started to get out some of my clothes that would fit her. I left them out on my bed, so when she came back through she could take her pick. Once they were all out, I sat back on my chair and began to leave back. I got out my guitar as well and just started to mess around on it whilst Maelstrom washed.

Maelstrom let the steaming water envelope her in safety. She felt safer the more comfortable she was. The hot water was comfortable, making her feel safe. After about ten minutes, Maelstrom turns the water off with the hand on her good arm. She steps out of the stall and dries herself, hair first, then the rest of her body. She wraps the towel around her body with a bit of difficulty, for some things that seemed so easy weren't the same when you have only one appendage capable of doing it. Maelstrom takes a look at her face in the mirror. Rather than seeing her old saddened self, she saw a new person. Someone she had never encountered before. This person was happy. Her face shone and her eyes sparkled, showing hints of intelligence and joy. She was extremely grateful for Selena. Her life was filled up with more light than she never thought she would see. It was amazing. Truly amazing.

The girl bends down and picks up the metal casing with her good hand. She was going to wait until after she was dressed to put it back on. She then opens the door and walks back into the room that Selena occupied. There were clothes laid out on her bed and Selena was slouching in a chair, strumming her guitar with expertise. Maelstrom looks at all the clothes then to Selena.

'Are you sure I can borrow your clothes?' she asks her as she throws her cast onto the bed next to the pile of clothes.

I lean back and to the side so the chair was balancing on only one leg. Then, I swivel around and land so I'm facing Maelstrom. I strum a few last chords and then put the guitar down to the side. I stand up and walk over to her and then sit down on the bed beside the pile.

I look at the clothes for a moment and then look up at Maelstrom, these would definitely fit her nicely. I also noticed a new look in Maelstrom. She seemed a lot happier now, she seemed different. I was happy for her, I was glad she seemed happy. Even her eyes were sparkling, it was definitely a good sparkle though. I look back at the clothes and then say to her a really deadly serious tone, [color=darkblue]"Borrow them? Borrow these clothes?" I quickly jump back with a serious face and then I start to laugh, "You're not just borrowing these clothes, you're keeping them. They'll look better on you than me anyhow. Whichever clothes you decide not to wear right now, I'm putting in a bag for you." I tell her as I pick up a bag from the floor and drop it on the bed beside the clothing.

Selena Rivera's Bunk Empty Re: Selena Rivera's Bunk

Post by Guest 2/1/2013, 5:24 pm

Maelstrom couldn't believe what she was hearing. How could she? Just how could Selena be so nice to her? All the daughter of Kore gave her was suffering, yet Selena still insisted on being nice to her. Maelstrom's mind couldn't comprehend it. She didn't understand what real kindness was. Hell, she couldn't even wrap her mind around basic kindness. She looks up to Selena, then to the pile of clothes. Maelstrom did not ever think someone would ever be so kind to her. It was odd. Maybe not to others, but to her it was.

The girl starts rummaging through the clothes and ends up picking out a yellow and white diagnally striped shirt. The stripes looked as if they were put on by a paint brush, for they were faded and splotched at the sides of the lines. She also grabbed a pair of tightly fitting jeans that were a dark shade of gray. They weren't super skinny jeans, but close. Maelstrom takes the clothes and walks into the bathroom. She, with a bit of difficulty, puts on her underclothing, then her pants and shirt. She hangs the towel on a small rack that hung off the back of the door, then walks back out to where Selena was. She couldn't be serious about giving her clothes. It just...it just seemed so selfless of Selena. Maelstrom didn't know that people could still be it. All she ever saw was selfishness. No one cared for anyone else, but only for themselves. But Selena was different. Selena was the total opposite, and Maelstrom couldn't comprehend it.

'I...how... the girl begins, but struggles to find words. 'How are you so selfless? You are so different than everyone else. People usually just do things that benefit themselves. How? How are you so opposite? I mean, it is great. You are an awesome person. It is just...just I never felt cared for. My adoptive parents tried to show that they loved me, but I could tell that it was artificial. The day I left for here, they never contacted anyone. They never called the police to say I was missing. They...I saw it with my own eyes; they went and just adopted another child. And they were smiling and showing no remorse for their daughter who was missing. I just, I've never felt like someone cared for me. You changed that. I just want to know how. How are you so kind? So different?' Maelstrom finishes; she was clamping on her cast as she talked.

Selena Rivera's Bunk Empty Re: Selena Rivera's Bunk

Post by Josh 2/4/2013, 3:51 pm

When she came out of the bathroom, I had to admit she looked better in that outfit than I ever did. I hadn't really worn it much, it just didn't look too good on me, but on Maelstrom, it looked really good. Definitely a good change from her earlier clothing, which was ruined now. I packed the rest of the clothes neatly into the bag and left it on the bed for her.

Then, I begun to blush and smile happily as Maelstrom said all that. I couldn't believe I had touched her so much. I was only being nice, I hadn't realised how nice I was being, I didn't mind it though, it was nice to be thanked for once. I enjoyed being nice, I hadn't always been like this, and when I had realised I was a brat, I decided to change everything, and I've tried to be nice ever since. I smiled at Maelstrom, and wiped a small tear of joy away from my eye. She was making me cry she was complimenting me that much!

"I just want to help you that's all. I enjoy helping people, especially those who other people aren't that nice to. I just want to be that friend that's always there for people, and I try to be always there. It makes me happy to know that I've made a difference to someone's life, a good difference that is."

My tear of joy, then turned to a tear of sadness as I heard the last part. That was horrible, how could anyone ever do that to someone. That was possibly the cruelest thing I'd ever heard, it was just so mean. I could never bring myself to do that, it just wouldn't be right. "And I'm sorry to hear about that." I said solemnly.

Maelstrom stares deeply at Selena. Was she . . . crying? What did Maelstrom do wrong? No, Maelstrom didn't do anything. Something else seemed to be the source of Selena's tears. She still looked cheerful, so were they tears of joy? The daughter of Kore had no idea how to comfort someone. She was never in this position before. It was actually sort of awkward feeling. Maelstrom sits down on the bed next to Selena right before she starts speaking.

When Selena is done, her facial expression changed. It had sadness written all over it. What was the cause of the sadness all the sudden? Maelstrom was shocked bt the words the girl spoke to her. She wasn't doing this for any gain, but to be a nice person. Maelstrom didn't deserve it. She didn't deserve a friend who was nice because she wanted too. The girl couldn't comprehend it at all. Why would someone be nice just to be nice? People are greedy beings, always caring about themselves and nothing and no one else. They only aimed for self-pride and to be rich. Only for themselves, no one else. Not Selena though. Selena had no gain from being Maelstrom's friend, but she did it anyways. Maelstrom still couldn't understand why, but she wasn't going to question the girl anymore.

'What's the matter?' Maelstrom questions Selena, putting her good arm around the girl's shoulder, trying to comfort her.

I was taken back for a moment. Originally, I had been the one comforting Maelstrom, and now she was comforting me. It made me smile. I hadn't even been crying much, only a little bit, "That story. Of your foster parents! It was just the saddest thing I've ever heard, it's just soo mean." I confessed. I turned and smiled at her though, she looked so much different right now; Cleaned up, dressed, comforting me.

I turned and looked around, wondering what we should do now. I looked around my room for ideas, as you do, but alas I had none. I sighed and looked over to Maelstrom, then sat up straight, smiled and said to her, "So! What would you like to do now?!"

Maelstrom honestly had no idea what she wanted to do. She felt as if that she owed Selena a huge favor. Selena needed to do something that she wanted to do. Maelstrom would do it with her if she preferred her to, no exceptions. The girl rises to her feet and looks at Selena with her black eyes looking as if they were pits of tar. She stretches and touches her toes, then rises back up.

"We can do whatever you want. You've been doing so much for me and everything, so you deserve to do something you want to do." Maelstrom tells her as she looks out a large window that was to her right.

ooc: Don't worry about it, Im on a similar level.

I smiled, now she was wanting to do whatever I wanted to do. I didn't want to choose for her though. If she was going to begin to accept everything else and to be happier, it needed to be her to choose what she felt she was ready for, plus with her arm, she knew better what she felt capable of doing. Still, I couldn't be the one to push her into doing anything, it wouldn't help her very much. At the same time, I didn't want to say anything like that, I didn't want to put her off or anything, I was really enjoying spending this time with her. At that moment, Maelstrom was very quickly becoming my best friend, I didn't want to spoil that.

"I enjoy doing things for you, and doing what you want to do! You pick somewhere to go, whatever you feel up to doing. I'll help you with anything, if there's anything you haven't done before, but would like to, just anything! You pick!" I told her.

A small smile comes to Maelstrom's lips as she comes up with a list of things she would like to do.

'Let's see,' she begins. 'I would like to go sky diving, scuba diving, on an airplane, go over one hundred and fifty miles per hour in a car, go to Australia, meet my sister again, and...uh...' she finishes, not really thinking of anything to actually do.

'Seriously though, I have no ideas. What's a place that you enjoy to go to? What place makes you feel at home? What do you like to do?' the girl spits out in rapid-fire. She wanted Selena to do whatever she wanted as a reward for putting up with her. Why couldn't she see that?

I laugh at her list of things to do. So none of them could be done at the moment, but it was a cool list nonetheless. I tried to think of something to do though... I wasn't sure as to what she would enjoy or not. But then again, how could I get myself out of it and make her pick something to do...
I shrugged and looked at her, "I don't really know. I'll do anything really. But come on, there must be something you want to try? That we can do. I'm just enjoying spending time with you, so you pick something!" I order her laughing and flipping back onto the bed and then lying down, but at the same time looking at her. She really was completely changed from earlier. It was remarkable. I was happy for her.

'Oh my gods, Selena! You're so hard to work with! I don't care what we do. There isn't much I can do with this blasted arm of mine. All the things I want to do require two arms, so you can pick something. No buts!'

Maelstrom tells Selena, and, for the first time in a long, long time, laughs. Not forced laughter, but actual happiness. Maelstrom actually felt the urge to laugh. It came as almost unnatural, but she manages it.

The daughter of Kore launches herself onto a blue bean-bag chair in the corner of the room. She made sure she would land on her good side. The girl was too reckless. She was going to end up hurting her arm more than it already is. The thought didn't cross through her mind though.

'Use your brain! Think of something you love to do!' Maelstrom says, her voice muffled because she had turned over onto her stomach and the bean-bag covered her mouth.

Post by Josh 3/3/2013, 12:35 pm

I laugh with Maelstrom, she was acting so normally now. It was definitely a complete personality change to before, but it made me laugh. She was finally acting like many other teenage girls, and that was a good thing, she needed to act differently to before, she was living literally on the edge, but now she was doing better, I was happy for her. And whilst thinking about that, I smiled.

I cringed as Maelstrom jumped onto the beanbag though, I thought she was going to destroy her arm making that jump, but she landed on her good side and it was all good.

I then laughed at her voice coming from the bean-bag. It was muffled and sounded funny as she faced the bag itself, but I decided to think about something, "Well, I don't know! I enjoy swimming, but with your arm we can't, I enjoy practicing in the arenas, but again, you can't. So, you need to pick because you're the one who knows what you're capable of at the moment!" I told her, I then instructed her to pick something instead.

She was impossible to work with, Selena was. She was determined to do whatever Maelstrom wanted to do. The daughter of Kore twists around so her body is facing the ceiling.

'I honestly have no idea of what I'm capable of doing. Wanna just go for a run or something? I don't think I need an arm to use my legs,' Maelstrom comes up with. She was out of ideas and was just coming up with stuff now.

I think about it for a moment, and realise I hadn't been for a run in ages. I could probably do with one, I needed to keep my fitness up. So, I look back over to Maelstrom and nod to her, "Sure. A run sounds like a great idea, just give me a moment to change, you should change to." I tell her. I move over to one of my drawers and pull out some shorts, and grab a vest top. I get out an one of each for Maelstrom as well. My shorts were short, Lycra ones. As were the ones I got for Maelstrom, perfect for running. And the top was a sports vest, mine in pale blue. I moved into the bathroom and changed, leaving the main room for Maelstrom to change.
"You can use some of my shoes too! Just take your pick, I have plenty to choose from!" I tell her through the door.

Post by Guest 3/7/2013, 4:34 pm

Maelstrom suddenly gets a rush of sadness over her. She started to get a feeling that Selena was pitying her. The girl looks towards the clothes that Selena had given her. She didn't want them. Did Selena think she was poor? She wasn't. She just didn't have many friends. She didn't want anyone to feel pitiful over her. She wanted people to think of her as a normal person. A normal person with a normal life.

Maelstrom rises up to her feet and grabs the bag of clothes Selena had given her. She plops it on the bed, unzips it, then proceeds to dump it all out on the bed. She didn't need anyone to help her. She was fine on her own. She would like a friend, but not one who felt as if Maelstrom was a lost puppy. Maelstrom was better than that. She was a human. She was just an easy target for bullies for some reason.

"Stop pitying me. I'm a normal human. I'm not some little kid. I don't need pity. I'm fine on my own, Maelstrom says quietly, but makes sure her voice is audible enough for Selena to hear. The girl then walks out of the cabin, going to her own. She was going to show them. Show all the kids who pitied her. Show all the people who bullied her. Show them that she was like them. She was an average human girl. They would notice it too. They would stop pitying her or making fun of her. Everything will be better...

Selena Rivera's Bunk Empty Re: Selena Rivera's Bunk

Post by Josh 3/22/2013, 9:24 pm

I come back into the room quickly, but I was too late, Maelstrom had already left. I cursed myself and sat down on the edge of the bed. I was only trying to help. I only wanted to be nice. I guess I'd been a bit over-powering and off-putting. I was only giving her the running clothes so she wouldn't have to go back to her cabin and change, it was only to save time. I didn't realise it meant that much to her.
I didn't pity Maelstrom, I was just trying to be a good friend to her. I brushed all the clothing onto the floor and lay back on the bed, cursing myself in Spanish as I went along. Sometimes I was such a fool! I would run after her, but I didn't have the slightest clue as to where she went, and I didn't want to upset her further. I only hoped she was okay, she still had her bad arm, so I was curious as to what she would do now. Would she just go to her cabin? Or back to the cliff? I really hoped not. I didn't think so though, she didn't seem like that now, I just lay back though and continued to curse myself. 7

After a while, I get up and decide to go. I wanted to tell Maelstrom that I was leaving also, but she left before I had the chance. I was disappointed with that, but I had to go now. I packed my bag, and walked out of the door. I looked back one last time, smiled softly and thought about all my memories, then left it behind me and headed for the hill.
