Laure started lightly touching his chest with her pointed and wet fingertips. His skin was so smooth, and yet so hard, because of the muscles. She kissed him. It was not the kisses she usually gave him, passioned, cheeky or playful. This was a deep, slow and careful kiss, she concentrated a lot on it, one hand still on his chest to feel his heartbeat.
His heart drummed faster against her fingers and she felt her own heart pace quicken. She broke the kiss and looked deeply into his eyes. They were blue, like hers. He had a very intelligent look. Laure loved his demeanor, it was a bit nerdy.
Even though this was really great - being with him in the baths - Laure wanted to go somewhere else. Somewhere where they could be alone. She smiled and bit her lip.
Laure put her violet Camp-Shirt and skimpy white short on. She laced her shoes, dried her hair, braided it, and renewed her make-up: she carefully drew a line of blueberry-colored eyeliner over her right eye and a honey-colored one over her left one. The blonde girl smacked her lips, winked at her reflection, then got out. Chance was waiting for her. She took his hand in hers and put her braid over one shoulder. Her shapely legs glowed in the sun.
Her braid was still a bit wet, so droplets of water fell on her shirt, drawing dark patches on it, but she didn't care. She let go of his hand and slipped her arm around his shoulders.
They headed off to the aqueduct and Laure was sorry she hadn't put high heels shoes on. She loved to wear a pair of those when she was walking with a boyfriend. She wondered if they could sneak out tonight and go to a night club. She knew one or two at New Rome who were really good. She put her arm around Chance's waist and walked with determination on the road, ignoring the other persons, her head held high.
They go out of the military camp and finally reach the Aqueduct, laughing and talking. Laure took her arm off his waist and sat down behind a pillar. She folded her legs and looked up at Chance, putting a hand in front of her eyes to protect herself form the sunlight. The French girl smiled brightly at him.
- Oh, she said, looking disappointed. She pulled her hair back and leaned against his chest. - It was just that.... You know, there are one or two cool night clubs at New Rome so I was thinking about sneaking out after dinner... with you. If you wish of course!
