"Stupid," The single word came choked from my lips fully intact, liquid-u and all. It was was a simple statement not thrown to any particular individual, but towards myself. Towards Fate- that which is but a matter of perception to the sentient. Stupid. Because, here I lay dying in the sand, dying from a knife in my gut. Dying from one of the very things I had been trained to survive against. Four years in the army... I'd been shot at, stabbed at, bombed, captured, tortured- gone through Hell and back, and still this is how I die? I gurgled a little bit; I could feel the dark haze setting in with every drop of blood that spilled from my body. I find kind of funny. I find it kind of sad.

Zayden strolled onto the beach, flicking his long, chocolate hair out of his eyes, which didn't really help in any aspect. He wore jeans, as it was much too frigid to have any intentions of swimming, and a hoodie to stay warm. He glanced down at his tennis shoes and frowned as they quickly filled with sand. Not a good choice of footwear, he thought to himself.

Drew wandered onto the beach, she flipped her hair and squinted up at the Sun, a good day to tan she thought. She caught sight of a boy with long brown hair a few paces ahead of her. Well, its not like Im doing anything important now anyway, drew smiled to herself. Streaching her long legs ahead of her, she bounded up to join him, her flip flops kicking sand up in the air. She thought she looked pretty damn good today, in beach shorts that showed off her perfect legs and a cute new tank top. All in all not bad. She halted to walk next to the boy and flashed a dazzling smile at him, "Hi, its a nice day isnt it?"

Zayden spun around to see a strikingly beautiful girl, although, not exactly his type. She was gorgeous, sure, but in a sort of made-up model sort of way. And frankly, Zayden thought she looked like an airhead. Best not to judge a book by it's cover though, he figured and replied, "I don't know about you, but it's cold out here." Her choice in clothing didn't seem to suit the frigid autumn weather, or at least that's what Zayden thought.

Drew pouted, obviously displeased that the boy hadnt immediately fallen to his knees and proclaimed his devotion...well, metaphorically. "Well I think its pretty nice", she said defiantly staring at the boy appraising him, trying to decide if he would be worth her time. "Anyhow", she exclaimed shaking her hair back and smiling slightly, "Im Drew, daughter of Aphrodite you know" , she said extending her hand.

Zayden took her hand and shook it. Awful polite for a daughter of Aphrodite, but no need to judge. "If you think the cold is nice, then so be it," he replied with a mischievous smile. He had heard of Drew before, but never really met her, and her reputation basically said everything. Strikingly beautiful. Yup. "I'm Zayden," He replied, "A son of Anubis."

Withdrawing her hand, Drew frowned, "Anubis? I havnt heard that one before. Is that even a greek god?" Drew sensed the boy was not one to be manipulated easily but without knowing why she felt the need to impress him, she wanted him.on her side.
