I smile sadly. "Not that you stopping talking makes much of a difference," I say. Then I realize what I said, and feel horrible. I meant it about my relepathy, but I was sure that wasn't how Bryce would take it. "Not... like that," I say quietly. "Sorry,". Again with the sorrys.

"It's fine, I know what you meant." Bryce reassured her, "So... what is your relationship status?" Bryce asked hesitantly, "do you have a bad history with people like I do?" Bryce wondered and winced, this sounded so winey, and almost desperate.

"There've been a few girls... one I learned, only liked me so she could make a guy jealous, and another, it was a joke between her and her friends..." Bryce said slowly, he still wanted to hurt those girls... and most of the people at his old school. "But now..." Bryce started hesitantly, he was beginning to feel light headed, and had butterflies in his stomach. "There is a girl I like."

"Yeah." Bryce said, "But, I'm not sure if she feels the same way." Bryce said, feeling really nervous now. Maybe I should stop, and keep my dignity. Bryce wondered, feeling the blood rise to his cheeks.

"She's just really cool, pretty, interesting... I'm not sure if I'm even her type..." Bryce said hoping he could learn some sign of Acacia's thoughts, but he sucked at reading body language and emotions... "I'm just not sure how to go about asking her." Bryce admitted quietly.

I coupd just TELL he was talking about me.... every indication, body language, his thoughts said so. I went over to him. "Bryce," I say softly. "Whatever you tell me, I promise I won't laugh, run away screaming, or otherwise react badly. I've been rhere, and I don't want it to gappen to anyone else."

Bryce looked up at Acacia slowly and hesitated. Now or never. "You." Bryce said quickly. "I like you Acacia. You're funny, smart, pretty... it's been a long time since I've felt like this about anyone, I just thought I'd let you know." Bryce said and turned to sit on a large stone.

I sat down next to him. "I think I started to realize that, when you came to find me in my cabin," I say. "And you know what, Bryce? I reallly like you too. You're funny, kind, caring, and a really nice guy. It also dosen't hurt that you're one of the very few people who haven't run away screaming, or freacked out on me when I said I was telepathic." Slowly, I reached out to take his hand.

Bryce looked up in shock when he felt her hand on his, it was a strange feeling, but a comforting one. "...Are you serious? Or is this just a cruel joke?" Bryce asked, he wanted to make sure, it happened before, and he didn't want it to happen again. So far so good, but he couldn't read minds, oh! That was an added bonus if Acacia decided she liked him.

Bryce smiled slightly, "so you actually like me?" Bryce asked to clarify, his stomach was now swarming with butterflies. Bryce felt really excited, he hadn't felt like this in a while, and he was now learning that someone could return the feelings.

Bryce felt his face go red, and found his voice didn't work at the moment... Bryce smiled at her, say something! Bryce thought angrily, he couldn't believe someone like him, and as usual he was making things go wrong. "Cool." He finally managed to choke out.

"No! It's fine! Do you know how cool it is that you can read minds? Oh by the way," Bryce started and drew an invisible line across his lips, "you're secret's safe with me... well unless I run into someone else who can read minds, then they'll probably know." Bryce said trailing off a bit.

I smile. "I don't know how common telepathy is. Also, it's not like, everything a erson knows, I then know. It's more like, what they're thinking about. Kinda hard to explain."

"Oh so kind of like..." Dang what was the word? He remembered learning about it in english... but he sucked at english, "like stream of consciousness?" He asked, remembering the term, "like what ever is on the person's mind at the moment, what ever they're currently thinking about."

"Yeah, sort of," I say. "But it's a lot more complex than just that. If there's only a few people around, I can normally focus on one or two at a time. But, if I'm around alot of people, then it gets harder and harder to hear any one specific thing. Also, people who I know better, I have a longer range with, and I can pick their voices out easier."

"Oh that's pretty cool actually." Bryce smiled, "So we've established we like each other, does that mean we're--" Bryce stopped, suddenly feeling... odd? Paranoid? He couldn't pick out the right word, but one thing was for sure. The forest was too quiet. No songs of birds, no chattering dryads, silence, the canopy above them swayed from the winds that Hurricane Sandy brought, but it was way too quiet for comfort. Bryce removed his sword from her sheathe and stood, scanning his environment.

"That's just it. I hear nothing." Bryce said wearily, he surveyed his surroundings gripping his sword tightly. "Maybe we should go." Bryce muttered, "I feel... uncomfortable here." He told Acacia.
