Alive, But Not Breathing

So, earlier I created a very stupid story about the happy daughter of Athena, Alia. Well she's dead now. MWAHAHAHHAHAHHA!! So, it was a cruddy story. Now I shall make an epic one. About demigod ghosts, yay!!!

Prologue

Nicholas clutched his bronze spear. He looked at the sea of monsters, warriors, and Titans before him, and his heart sank into his stomach. He didn't think his side would win. Not at all. He was supposed to be the almighty, powerful son of Zeus, but he didn't feel that way.

Sorry it's so short, lol, but I have to get off. More tomorrow :)

Yaya I is back :)

Nicholas scanned the enemy army for any.... familiar faces. Sure enough, standing proudly next to a dracanae, was his twin sister, Elliott. He still couldn't believe she had turned over to "The Dark Side". She never had fit in with her popular brother. He was tall, blonde, and anything a girl would want. Elliott, well, she was tall, too, but with stringy dirty blonde hair hanging over her face. Nicholas loved attention. Hero did not. Even though they were twins, they weren't very much alike. Not very much was an understatement. Not at all.
The fight had all started when Zeus and Poseidon had a fight. Poseidon bragged that, "Oh, Mother Rhea liked me best!" and Zeus did not find that amusing. It spiraled out of control and turned into a war. Nicholas found it very silly to be fighting over their mother's love. It seemed to Nicholas that the gods were really just a bunch of first graders. He knew Zeus nor Poseidon nor any other god wouldn't appreciate that comparison, but, really, Nicholas didn't care if he was disowned by his father. He didn't care about anything but Elliott.

Nicholas climbed a tree and perched on the top of it. He searched the forest but all he saw was the leafy green turf of trees. He felt protected so he closed his eyes and slept.
He was awakened by a frantic shaking of his shoulders. Elliott was towering above him. She looked desperate.
"Nick, Nicholas! Help me. Please." Elliott's voice was raspy and quiet.
"What? Elli?" he said loudly.
"Shush!! They're following me" she whispered. Her face was gaunt.

"They're going to kill me.

Nicholas frowned. "Elliott... what? I thought you were on their side so why would they kill you?"
"I.. I missed you, Nick." Elliott's voice cracked. "I missed Daddy. I missed Chiron. I missed Logan." Her voice went soft when she mentioned her former best friend's name. She had a big crush on him, and they were almost as close as she and Nicholas. But when she had believed the other side's beliefs in what had started the war, she told him. Logan was furious. They "broke up", even though they weren't dating. Nicholas didn't want to tell Elliott, but Logan was dead. Someone had speared him on a sword.
Elliott and Nicholas were quiet for a few moments. Then men's shouting broke the silence.
"There she is!"
"Get her!"
"Traitor!"
"NO!" Elliott screamed. The dagger hit her back. Nick's name was on her lips when she fell. Nicholas watched his sister fall.
She fell forever.
And she stayed there forever.
She was dead.

Nicholas could still remember that day. In fact, he didn't want to remember it. At all. But for over sixty years, it haunted him. The image of his sister falling was permanently implanted in his head. It had been sixty two years since the horrible incident. But that scene replayed over and over in his head every day like an I Love Lucy rerun. He always wished Elliott was there with him. She was. Not in his heart. Not in the graveyard next to his home in suburban New York. She was there. Alive. But not breathing. She soothed him, but Nicholas could not hear her. She touched his face, but Nicholas could not feel her. They were supposed to be twins. Elliott was sixteen, but Nicholas was seventy-eight. Elliott was a ghost.

That Horrible Day

Alia closed her book. "Stop bothering me, Dante."
Her older brother, Dante, scowled. "Alia, I already told you not to touch anyone's stuff when we're hiding in their house!"
The two of them were homeless. They ran from house to house every night for shelter. They were kids of Zeus, and they had ran away from Camp Half-Blood to find their mother, who had gone mad when Zeus left them.
"But it's Jane Eyre, like, the best book of all time!" Alia complained.
Dante rolled his eyes. His sister could be such a nerd sometimes. "Whatever."
"It's not like you even read good books," Alia babbled loudly. "You read those anime comic books for third graders and you're sixteen!"
"Shhhh!" Dante hissed. "Pipe down!"
A light flicked on down the hall and they stared at each other in horror. An old man in a wrinkled blue bathrobe shuffled down the hall.
"You really did it now!" Dante whispered.
The old man looked at them strangely. He rubbed his eyes and squinted at them. Then his eyes widened.
"Intruders!"

"We're sorry, we're so sorry, oh my god, please don't hurt us," Alia whimpered.
Dante was shivering, but he looked the old man right in the eye.
The old man frowned. "No.."
A girl in a big tshirt peeked out from behind a door. "Grandpa? What's going on? Wait, who-" She had long blonde hair and olive skin. Her eyes peered at them with a glint. Alia thought they looked multicolored, but she knew humans didn't have two different colored eyes. That was only her old doll, but it was at her old house. Plus, she didn't play with dolls anymore. She was nine now, and fourth graders didn't play with dolls. The girl stared back at her like she had an extra head.
"Alissa, go back to bed," the old man sighed.
"No," Alissa said. She walked down the hall. "Who are you?"
"Dante and Alia," said Alia. Dante glared at her.
"No, no, it's okay," said the old man. "So you are half bloods?"
"Yeah, Zeus," said Alia. Dante waved his arms.
Nick chuckled. "Ah sister. Come have some tea."

Elliott watched from behind a corner. She saw Nick's wrinkled old face..... Smiling? Smiling at two robbers?!? She listened closer. Oh. Runaways.
Oh, well, she thought. Runaways, shmanuways, where's all the fighting and war like the old days? Then she was reminded: she didn't like war. She hated it, in fact. She had freaking died in it, people.

Alia snuggled up against Dante. To him, she seemed much younger then nine. He half smiled at her.
He felt a pair of eyes on him and looked up to see the girl Alissa's weird multicolored eyes staring at him. Her eyes flickered away immediately, but Dante could see mixed emotions in her eyes. Confusion. Admiration, maybe.
Nick yawned. "You may stay here for a while," he said. Then he got up and shuffled back to his room. And with one last look at the siblings, Alissa left too.
Dante lay a blanket on Alia. He lay on the other couch parallel of Alia and closed his eyes. For the first time in a while, he felt safe...

I like to make suspense :)

The next day, when everyone was up and dressed, Dante and Alia were about ready to leave. Dante looked down at his clothes distastefully. They were Nick's- a plaid button-up shirt and khaki shorts. As awesome as Nick was, he had no sense of style. But Dante was thankful, of course, for the great hospitality he had recieved.

"Thank you so much," Dante said.

Alia ran around and hugged Alissa and Nick. Tears leaked down her eyes, and it broke Alissa's heart to see this poor little girl that had barely ever had a home have to go back out into the streets after a night of safety and comfort. But her expression hardened. She wasn't supposed to feel bad. She used to be Alia. Her time as a hobo was over. Now it was Alia's turn. Still...

"It was good for me and Alissa to have company," Nick smiled.

"Yeah! It was fun!" Alia exclaimed.

"Stop by any time," Nick said.

Alissa and Nick walked the siblings to the door. Dante pulled on the handle, but it wouldn't budge. Nervous that he had probably broken it, he turned to Nick.

"Umm... I think it's broken."

"Hm," Nick examined the doorknob closely. "How peculiar. There seems to be some kind of...yellow light drifting from it."

It was true. The light drifted out of the doorknob's cracks like someone was shining a flashlight from the inside. The light formed into a girl-like figure.

"Elli..." Nick whispered. "No, it couldn't be. No."

"Nicky!" A girl's voice said.
