OOC: Sorry, I had finals this week.
Katy frowned hearing the noise again, but louder, she stood uneasily and looked around the small clearing. "Do you hear that?" Katy asked quietly, drawing a few more knives from her pockets. She knew the forest well, but she knew not to ignore noises like that, or it'd be the end of anyone. She froze hearing a quiet growl and began to breathe more heavily.

Katy frowned, her eyes scanning the dense plants that hindered her vision. Katy turned quickly as branches snapped and a large black dog landed in the clearing with them. Instantly her body reacted. Her arms whipped forward and the knives in her fingers were sent sailing through the air towards the black beast. Another set of snapping branches and two more hell hounds emerged from the darkness, smaller than the first, but just as deadly. They were out numbered by one. Katy hoped Zen had some tricks up his sleeves, because her powers wouldn't work very well against the large one. The knives stuck into Devil Dog #1's shoulder. It snarled at her and lunged, the two smaller hell hounds moved towards Zen

Zen shot up, scanning the hounds. He quickly grabbed his sword, slashing towards the Hell hounds. "Back off!" He screamed, continuing to slash in the hounds direction. He glanced towards Katy. She had to face the biggest one. He silently cursed, grasping the swords leather handle. He closed his eyes, praying to his mother. I know, I've never seen you as a mother; But I really need your help. He looked at Katy. SHE needs your help. Please. He finished his prayer, hoping that his mother would help them. He breathed in and out, in and out, in and out. Finally, one Hell hound regained its bravery, and lunged at Zen. Zen rolled to the slide, his muscles shaking. Adrenaline pumped through his veins, it probably being the only thing that was keeping him alive. He stabbed down on the Hell hounds back, the blade piercing through it's skin. The beast howled, calling for help. The other Hell hound jumped up, heading in his direction. Zen rolled to the side, his sword still stuck in the hound's back. Damn it. He though, gritting his teeth. He quickly glanced at Katy, making sure she was alright.

The hell hound was big, but Katy had speed on her side. Something like a Great White and a seal. The shark could easily catch up in a straight course, but it was no match for the seal's sharp turns and agility. She spun dancing to the left as the hell hound pounced where she had been. She managed to move behind the monster quickly as it recovered from its pounce and the Daughter of Odyne sent a volley of knives at the monster's jaw as it turned to snarl at her. She was running low on weapons. She had lost nine knives, which remained embedded in the monster's hide, and only five remained on her person. The hell hound was still going strong. Katy turned for a second to check on Zen, he was facing two of them... It was fairly even, but still unfair. Katy sent a blast of pain through the smaller hell hound's body. The sword protruding from it's back adding to the pain she created. Her powers had been known to cause weaker monsters to disintegrate in a moment. The hell hounds still had a lot of energy left before they'd vanish, but so did Katy.

Zen watched as one of the hell hounds cringed with pain. It howled, but still stood. It's eyes glowed red, with hatred. It eyed Zen, licking it's lips. Zen stepped back a bit, muscles frozen. His big eyes stared at the hell hound, unaware of the other one creeping up behind him. He jerked his head around, hearing a low growl. He bent his knees, and jumped as high as he possibly could. His hands lifted up over his head, and he closed his eyes, prepared for death. When he opened up his eyes again, he realized that he caught on to a branch. He exhaled, happy to be alive. He looked at Katy, making sure she was alright. He pulled himself up, muscles aching. He layed on the branch, completely forgetting about the other Hell hounds. He sat up, and rubbed his neck. Suddenly, something pulled him down. Something strong. He hit the ground, the wind being knocked out of him. One of the Hell hounds jumped on top of him, snarling. Zen sat in horror as it bit his leg. Zen's scream echoed across the woods, pain completely covering him. He clutched towards the hell hounds back, it being the one that he stabbed before. He clutched the sword handle, and ripped it out of it's back. he sliced the hound's maw, causing it to disintegrate. When he tried to stand up, pain shot up his leg. He fell to the floor, tears forming in his eyes. He had never experienced pain this bad. The smallest of the 3 began to run towards him, eyeing his dead teammate. He snarled, foam covering his mouth. Zen tried again to stand up, but again failed. 'K-Katy!" He screamed, lungs burning. He looked at the beast, awaiting death.

NO! Zen was in trouble. Katy removed the dagger from her belt and lunged at the large hell hound she currently fought. She ran the sharp blade over the monster's shoulder and jumped to the other side as it snapped at her. Not much time left... She ran forward, closer to Zen and screamed in pain as the monster caught her in the side with it's sharp teeth. She pulled away from the monster after it suffered another stab to the muzzle. The other demon dog was getting closer to Zen. Damn! She wasn't fast enough. She quickly rolled to the side, dodging a swipe from the black dog's claws. He used her folded legs and propelled herself upwards. Clawing her way onto the hound's back she drove the glossy blade of her dagger down, into the crown of the monster. She fell as the monster dissolved underneath her and landed hard. She collected a few of her knives and threw them at the last hell hound, attempting to remove the pain in Zen's body with her powers. She winced as she moved, the wound at her ribs, stung, red spreading over her white sweater. It felt bad, but she knew it probably wasn't. She sprinted across the clearing, hoping to make it to the demigod in time before the monster struck.

Zen cried, chest hurting. The Hellhound moved closer, teeth bared. It began to sniff Zen's head, drool spilling out of its mouth. Zen tried not to move, hoping that Katy would come quickly. But deep inside, DEEP inside, he knew it was over. He knew, that Katy would not be quick enough. The hellhound would grab him by his neck, and kill him instantly. There was no way out of this. "If I die," He said aloud."I'm gonna die fighting." He put both legs under the hellhounds chest, and pushed with all of his might. He heard his leg snap, more pain quickly covering him. More tears flew out of his eyes, but he went on. He grabbed his sword and stood up. Ignoring the pain, he charged at the hound, slicing towards it's shoulder. The hellhound easily dodged, knocking Zen over. He tried to stand up yet again. He was not going to die like this. He grabbed his sword again, adrenaline pumping through his veins. He sliced towards it's legs this time, but again failed. This time, it showed no mercy. It grabbed Zen by the arm, and flung him into a tree. Zen heard cracks, coming from his chest. He had broken some ribs. He was slowly dying on the inside, and out. In one last attempt, he threw his sword at it, and watched as the sword bounced off of it's skin. It seemed to laugh at him, and began to crept forward. This is it. Brianna...mom...dad..... I'm coming. Zen watched in horror as it crept towards him, biting him in the neck. Zen's eyelids shut, but amazingly, he wasn't dead. Well, not yet atleast.

Katy rushed forward and crouched, sliding on the leaves and twigs on the forest floor. She stopped right underneath the hell hound's chest and stood quickly, striking the hell hound in the throat with her elbow. The monster was tossed back and she turned quickly, driving the blade of her dagger into the monster's jaw. She sent a blast of pain through the monster and sent it crawling away. She drew one last knife and hurled it with a sweep of her hand, the blade stuck the monster between the eyes and it vaporized into golden dust.
She collected her dagger and placed it into her belt and sprinted to Zen. She dropped to her knees and pushed her hair out of her face. He was a mess... his wounds were extensive, she didn't know how she could carry him out of this either. "You're going to be okay." She assured him. She placed her palm on his forehead, and attempted to remove his pain, hoping his mind wouldn't resist her illusions.

Zen shook his head, eyes fluttering open. "N-No. N-No." He repeated over again, sweat covering his body. His lips curled into a smile, still chanting "N-No. N-No." He made bloop sounds randomly, his brain turning into mush. Tears trickled down his open eyes, his lips still curled into a smile. He look crazed, a bit scary in fact. Meanwhile, in his mind, he saw 3 figures; the silhouettes of his parents and his sister. He glanced around, spotting them. He tried to call out to them, but his voice didn't work. He tried to run towards them, but darkness covered him; it went in his mouth, up his nose, in his eyeballs. He coughed and spit, but more darkness replaced the fallen ones. He fell, slapping his face, his arms his legs; anything that was covered. Back in real life, he began to shake. Violently. His arms were flailing around, his legs kicking the air. More tears fell out, he still repeating "N-No. N-No." His face twisted around, making him look even more crazy.

He was delusional... Katy wiped a tear from her cheek. It was apparent he wasn't going to make it. She looked down at her dagger, considering driving the blade through his temple. He was lost, there was no bringing him back. She didn't want him to suffer anymore, but couldn't imagine ending his life. She closed her eyes tightly and prayed. "Thanatos, lord of peaceful death. Take his soul now. End his suffering." She begged, clawing at the loose soil around her.

Zen stopped flailing. His limbs laid limp at his side, his body still shivering. Everything seemed to stop, all noises being drowned out. Zen looked up at Katy, tears flowing down his cheeks. He lifted his hand up, touching her hand. "Do it." He whispered, closing his eyes. His breaths were getting heavier. There was no way out of this. "DO IT!" He shouted, voice quavering. His body felt cold, his blood not flowing any longer. His chest was barely moving, his breathing rate very low now. "Please..... just.... do it." He whispered again, hand falling to his side.

Katy shook her head quickly, tears rolling down her cheeks. She couldn't end one of her friends. She couldn't... he begged... Not his face. She couldn't ruin his face... She wiped a line of tears down her face and removed her dagger from her belt. His heart. She knew anatomy. It was one of her favorite subjects in school. Severing the aorta, the largest artery in the body would kill a person in seconds. He had already lost a lot of blood, she imagined it wouldn't take long at all. She laid a kiss on his forehead and used all of her strength to remove the pain from his body. She didn't want him to leave painfully. She raised the dagger and dropped the blade quickly into his chest.

Zen gasped as the blade peirced through his chest. Blood splattered out of it, soking Zen's clothes with the crimson liquid. Zen's breath stopped immediatly, him instantly dying. Zen's body layed there, motionless. His soul floated out of his body, in a visible ghost form. He smiled at Katy playfully, and nodded. His lips moved, a tiny voice speaking. "Thank you." He whispered, his body sinking into the ground.
