    The question broke the spell.
She looked at him and frowned.

Ethan saw her frown and looked down sadly. He knew he screwed up. Come on Ethan? Why did you have to go and ask her straight away. With her theving and stealing she would never have time for you. heck, who would want to have time with you. He sighed and looked back up at her. "I'm sorry...I shouldn't have asked...." He said awkwardly. He had to ruin this special moment they were having. It was perfect but he had to ruin it with a worthless question.

    Lakisha looked away.
"It's nothing," she stated. "It's just... you always ask surprising questions."
She chuckled slightly to ease the tension.
    She hadn't said no.
But she hadn't said yes either. Far away, the music changed to "Megalomania" (Muse), and she started dancing a close slow with Ethan, putting her head on his shoulder during the epic refraint.
After that came a song that surprised her: Undisclosed Desires. She wondered if Ethan was listening to the same; probably since he was wording the lyrics silently.
I know you suffered, but I don't want you to hide
It's cold and loveless, I won't let you be denied

She had still her arms around his shoulder, and they were looking straight into each other's eyes.
"Trust me - you can be sure
I want to reconcile the violence in your heart
    ...
I want to recognize your beauty's not just a mask'

Dude, Lakisha thought. Why had boys always to 'ask out'. Couldn't they just kiss her en be over with it?
Because now was the perfect moment.
When she thought about it, she realized a kiss was not a matter of love, but more a matter of moment. Love and attraction played an important part, but the major one was the moment.
She lightly parted her lips, hoping Ethan would understand.

Ethan could lightly hear Megalomania from the dance. He held her waist and looked at her smiling. When she kissed him, a thousand thoughts raced through his head but one stuck, this was perfect. He pulled her closer and lightly parted his lips as she had done. Why were relationships so customary with the whole asking out process. Why couldn't they just be dating? He left the thought and worried about the kiss, making sure it was perfect.

Ethan kissed really good; he surely had had girlfriends before. It didn't make Lakisha jealous or angry, not at all. It was good he had had some 'preparation', she thought.
Anyway, she didn't know why, but she liked him more than her other boyfriends. He was just... himself. Not superficial. Not boasty. Just himself, and didn't hide it. Perhaps that was why she liked him: because he didn't have to hide a part of himself, like she had to, with the part of her she had called 'Banshee', the part that came to the surface when she was thieving and doing other immoral actions.
She broke the kiss, briefly gazed into his eyes, then looked away.

Ethan smiled when they finished kissing and looked into her eyes. When she looked away a bunch of thoughts ran threw his head. What did he do wrong? Was he a bad kisser? He held her hand and said "whats wrong lakisha?" He must have done something wrong.

    She frowned.
"Nothing, Ethan. I was looking at the beach."
It was beautiful at night, but she didn't want to go there; she had just spotted three couples over there. She had still her arms around his shoulders and lowered them so only her hands were resting on his shoulders and her arms on his forearms. It was incredible how warm his skin was.

Ethan nodded and kissed her cheek. "Was that kiss a yes?" He asked nervously. He kept on thinking that her answer would be a no, but who knows?

Lakisha looked away again and thought about it.
Why, she thought again, had boys to do this?
Hell, they had met two days ago, what did he expect, that she'd fall into his arms and swear him eternal faith?
That question was a real trap. She couldn't really say yes for the reason above, she couldn't say 'no' either because she had just kissed him, but she couldn't decently shrug and say 'Hm, I don't know'.
So she replied what was the best:
    "Let me some time, okay?"

Ethan nodded and kissed her cheek. "Tell me when ever" he hugged her and looked at her cabin. "Its getting late"

    "I know. It's what, Two o'clock am?"
She wanted to look at her watch, but remember she hadn't it. All she had was her silver 'parure de main'.
"Would you mind taking me back to my cabin?" she smiled.

Ethan held her hand and started walking to her cabin. "Of course mi lady" he said trying to act fancy. He looked at her cabin. The ice frame was so much better than his bone ridden bunk.

    Lakisha stopped at the door.
"This is where we part, then," she said in her usual queen-like way, like she were a duchess and he his cavalier. "It was a lovely evening I spent with you, son of Thanatos. We'll meet again... tomorrow?" she asked, her hand on the door's handle.

Lakisha's look became a little distant as she panned the day ahead.
"In fact," she stated, "I'll be out the whole afternoon, I'm hunting with my cabin. We can meet after that, in the forest, it'd be better, don't you think?"

Lakisha smiled, opened the door and entered the cabin.
She was the last one to come back, all others were already in the bed. Three girls were sitting on a bunk and whispering about their boyfriends. Lakisha smiled at them, went into the bathroom to take the make-up off, undressed, put her silver silk night gown on and went to bed, thinking about Ethan and Ross.
