Jack's Bunk

I lay down on my bunk, glad that I have made a few new friends.

"No, but it's really nice to see you. I'd like to talk. What is your sort-of curse?"

"Look, I just want to know. My view of you will not change. You're my friend."

I took Mary's hand into mine after I said what I did. After we let go, I said, "You mentioned auras and colors before. I know that one. You see those when you're sad. I think you were acting weird because the colors started going away. You must have been happy. I know this as son of Athena."

"Before I came here, I was at Van Nuys Middle School. I came here after Mr. Raigoza, my algebra teacher, revealed he was a satyr. Then my would-be history teacher, Mr. West, turned out to be a Cyclops. Raigoza gave me the sword I have now, and then I fought West. Then I made my way here."

"Wow," I say. Then I say, "Your powers don't make me feel any different about you. To me, a friend is your friend no matter who they are. I'm so happy to have met you."

She hugs me and I hug her back.

"Maybe that's because I'm special. Never thought of it that way though..."

I'm surprised. I somehow knew that she'd never laughed before now. She must really love me.

BIC: I feel like I'm really special. Then I realize that someone is outside, and that realization gives me enough time to draw my sword and deflect Eros's arrow. I think, DREW! THAT'S IT!
