    Irene Ortega Empty Irene Ortega

Post by JosieWosie 6/4/2013, 10:54 pm

Name: Irene Ortega, formally Irene Tice, as she adopted the surname of her step-father at birth.

    Gender: Irene is a female.

Mortal Parent: Bridgett Tice, snarky, condescending and, contradictorily, full of good intentions is the birth mother of Irene and maintained her maiden name after she remarried Alejandro Ortega.

God Parent: Apollo met and mated with Irene’s mother during her college years in Spain and shortly left her unknowingly pregnant to marry Alejandro Ortega.

Date of Birth: Irene recently turned 17 on the 30th of May of the year 1996.

Place of Birth: Irene was born in Spain in 1996 in the only delivery room of Quirón Hospital of San Sebastian at 11:50 pm.

Hometown/Last Residence: Irene has always lived in San Sebastian Spain; however she constantly travelled between Spain and France, the quench-for-knowledge side of her basked in the different cultures she surrounded herself in.

Race/ethnicity: Irene outwardly admits allegiance to her mother’s half Spaniard ethnicity, and is rather shy about her snarky French side as everyone on her mother’s grandmother’s side is rude and obnoxious.

Accent: Irene was born into a French-Spaniard family, and her step-father, Alejandro, assisted in teaching her Spanish as her mother taught her French and, the school system taught her English. While her blend in languages assisted in school, on the streets most could tell she was from Spain (with the exception of her signature French-sounding “Allo” during initial introductions) as her accent mandated her articulation be more on the elongated vowel side that the Spaniard use to identify others are one of their own.

Skin Tone: Although she considers herself an “indoor cat” Irene spends ample amount of time outdoors and thus giving her a, not always even, golden tan apart from the natural tan she derives from her Spaniard background and the not always fair complexion from her French side.

Eye Color: Irene has brown eyes that are so dark that they are constantly mistaken for being simply black.

Hair Color: While her eyes are the darkest shade of brown her hair maintains a lighter chestnut shade as opposed to her mother’s auburn streaked hair, or her father’s black-as-night hair.

Hair Length: Irene’s hair waves lightly to the curves of her shoulders, should she ever allow her hair to be let down. Constantly tied up in a bun, the few loose hair strands she lets slip yield down to her chin in soft wavy curls
Height: Irene is 5’6 barefoot. However on a good day, if she would stop slouching, she’d be a full 5’7.

Weight: Irene has a set point weight between 145 and 150 lb.

Body Type: Irene has always been a minimalist when it came to exerting physical labor. This accounts for her average yet naturally curved body figure. The only thing Irene seriously has going for her are her defined legs that came from all the volunteer work that required fast pace, and her hips that don’t lie.

Appearance: Irene has the need for glasses, although she doesn’t consider it a flaw as she can see decently without them. Being in the sun for many hours gave her the lightest freckles spanning across from the tops of one cheek to the other, however one can only tell if close enough. Being part French the bridge of her nose concaves while the Spaniard side gave her the button apex tip.

Weapon: A celestial bronze double spiked flail, which she has carried with her since her second year at Camp Half-Blood. While dented up at the handle slightly the two spiked weights at the end of the chains have maintained their sheen and power throughout the years.

Armor: Irene sports some Greek Brass Hoplite armor that is double clasped at the front and back, and under, basic brass greaves, slightly dented and could actually use some replacing. Irene tends to wear colorful padding underneath her armor as extra precautions.

Pet(s): Upon starting Camp Half Blood at 13 Irene was gifted a hellhound puppy which she dubbed Gyzmo with which she spends much of her time with on the lake shores.

Skills/Talents: Irene maintains a thirst for knowledge which made her a keen, book smart, and highly knowledgeable. She drowned herself in books through her experiences volunteering she adapted to be a quick learner.

Flaws: Irene may be the brightest crayon when it comes to hitting the books however she hasn’t got a lick street smarts which leaves her incapable of getting out of some situations without needing help. Ironically, though she may be the one in need of help when it comes to the streets Irene has the most difficult time denying someone assistance even if it derails her from her path, she is someone who people would say “can’t say no”. Adopted from her mother, Irene can lean towards the condescending side when feeling threatened; this flaw is deeply ingrained in her personality and has gotten her in her fair share of trouble with authorities. Unfortunately, Irene has a tendency to get jealous as well, while never acted upon; her jealously has led her to make some less than friendly remarks as a method of dealing with her emotions which she also has an issue with. As for physique, apart from her speed and defined leg power, Irene has the bare minimum when it comes to physical labor, unable to lift most objects that are more than a third of her weight and when she does attempt to expert effort she is rather clumsy by nature.

Strengths: Irene is a capable young lady, she’s highly organized, considerate of others wellbeing, while not always emotionally, she can’t stand the feeling of someone being in pain. While not a power, she tends to have a gut feeling of when someone is in genuine pain, although she does not rely on it as much as she could. She is self-educated to the fullest extent, knowledgeable in much, and very proactive. While she plays support in most scenarios, she is unselfish and does what needs to be done when it comes to what is best for others as a whole.

Weaknesses: Being a daughter of Apollo one would expect prowess at the hands of a bow and arrow however, Irene has a sad tendency to either disappoint or exceed expectations, and being a decent archer is an example of a disappointment. Irene has some issues dealing with her emotions, while her frustrations with jealously are more than likely a lifetime ordeal, she’s sure she can mend her relationships with other emotions given time and effort.

Likes: Irene is a huge softy for animals; this is what inspired her to assist at animal shelters with her father. Most likely due to her weekly father-daughter date at the pizzeria, Irene grew very fond of pizza. Oddly enough she enjoys more Italian food than any other culture’s food. Fond, of science fiction, and non-fiction texts, Irene adores libraries and learning through life and text.

Dislikes: Irene cannot stand having to repeat herself more than once or twice. She dislikes anyone who cannot keep up with her lingo, or can’t comprehend her point of view. Irene has a strong dislike for anyone who comes across as never put in effort into anyone or anything but themselves. Unfortunately Irene also dislikes being touched.

Fears: While animals and helping in general have always been a passion, Irene cannot stand rabbits, or bunnies of any sort. Horrible experiences as a child with mobs of rabbits nipping at her might have caused slight trauma in her.

Personality: Irene has a few select quirks, upon introduction you will note her Frenchie “Allo” followed by a pure as crystal Spaniard accent for anything following. Irene also has a tendency to cringe when touched unexpectedly, this included hugging, taps on shoulders or any touching of the sort. She twitches when in deep contemplation or pressured calculations of action or under stress, coupled with her habit of ripping small papers or twigs into shreds when anxious. Her acquaintances made a habit of noting her main facial expressions and their underlying meaning, though none have come close to recognizing or defining all of them. Her most common expression is her pursed lips when she succeeds in clumsily tripping or tipping over objects

Powers: Irene has the ability to heal wounds by touch of no more than an inch and a half up to five times in a day and while she grows more tired after each time after the fifth time she begins to get severely fatigued and will need to rest. Irene can cure infections or disease also by touch twice in a day with little drainage, however, her counter, to cause acute diseases takes more out of her and can only spread said diseases on others by mind up to three times in a day.

Social Status: Prior to camp, Irene was not a loner; however she was moderately sociable with the other volunteers. While she did not know it her flaw of being unable to say no developed a handful of alliances with other people and her name got around sporadically.

Summer or Year Rounder: While only 17, Irene found Camp to be fascinating and an ocean of knowledge, she chose to stay year round and learn everything she could about this world through the eyes of a demigod.

Years at Camp: Irene began camp at 13 years when she noted that she had the capability to heal others, at first she kept quiet about it and assisted her mother at the hospital and her father at the animal shelter. However, she couldn't keep it a secret forever and was sent to Camp Half Blood when she turned 13 and has been there for 4 years.

Life before CHB: Irene was born in San Sebastián in Spain. This allowed her to learn both Spanish and French. She volunteered at animal shelters with her step-father and hospitals with her mom who worked there. She lived there until she turned 13 and learned she was a daughter of Apollo. There, she went to Camp Half Blood.

Role-playing Example: Irene clumsily stumbled into her cabin, double checking to make sure no one saw, although it was late and she knew everyone was sleep already, she couldn't help but purse her lips out of habit anyway. Allowing her feet to be dragged on the wooden floors of her cabin, Irene was so tired she couldn't care less about lifting her legs to prevent splinters as she walked to her bunk. Laying her flail on the foot of the bed, Irene whistled twice and Gyzmo came prancing in contently with a “gift” in the form of a rotting branch ready for Irene’s sarcastic approval. “Oh, another branch! Gee, thanks Gyzmo. I’ve always wanted a total of 48 branches, looks like we won’t need to buy a Christmas tree this year.” Irene comments while petting Gyzmo as a distraction as she tosses the branch out the window to a pile outside the cabin . She’s fully aware that her cabin mates hate that pile of branches outside, however Gyzmo would sooner chew his own foot off than to let anyone but Irene go near it. Finally rested on the head of the bed, Irene was about to pick up the flail to put away when Gyzmo habitually took the flail and dropped it in Irene’s chest just as he was taught as a puppy. Irene started to reminisce on her early years at Camp Half Blood, teaching Gyzmo to behave, to ride shadows, to preform convenient tricks and aid in her times of need; Irene remembered how quickly her friends started to disappear, one by one moving away or just going back home when they had enough of the camp, suddenly Gyzmo seemed like the most wonderful friend a demigod could ask for. Irene let her hair down for the night, worn out tassels falling all over her pillow, she silenced the light, and let Gyzmo have the foot of the bed tonight as opposed to his bed under her bunk, he deserved it.

Notes: Irene enjoys going around barefoot whenever possible/acceptable.

    Hey Josie! :D

I've been looking at the beginning of your character form and shall read it completely later.

Just one thing I didn't get: you say she turned 17.... On the 30th of March 1994. Later you say she's born in 1996. Okay, it may just be me not understanding, or you explain it later in your form, but it still struck me ^^

Silly me, this is one of the downsides of typing on the bed, I must have slipped up the number. Fixed it.
