Willow Sheridan spent her day the way she most enjoyed, in the forest with her bow in one hand and a quiver of arrows slung over her shoulder. The day was perfect for a quiet walk amongst the trees and along the soft dirt was the patchy shadows cast off of the leaves that made their home on the branches of the numerous types of trees that made their home here. If she was a daughter of Demeter she might be able to tell you the types of trees these were and their species or whatever. But no this daughter of Apollo knew nothing of trees nor did she want to. All she knew was that she felt peace in the forest and among the trees was where she felt like she was home, truly at home. She could wander these beaten paths for hours and never get bored or restless from being in one place for long.

Hunting was her favorite thing to do as she walked atop the soft dirt and dried leaves. Though when she did she made sure to creep along quietly as not to scare away her targets. Most times she wouldn't kill anything, but instead aim just a little lower or higher then she should just to test if she could not hit them. Willow had no use for game anyways. The thrill of the hunt was what kept her going back to that same area almost everyday, and now as she moved quietly along she could feel the slight adrenaline rush that came everytime she was out there in the woods. Willow carefully placed each step and each time her boot sunk lightly into the ground underneath her she adjusted her balance to still remain low and unnoticeable. She had her target now, a squirrel that was sitting out on a branch that belonged to a tree she had no idea the name of. With a quick and fluid motion she grabbed one of the arrows from her quiver and placed it against her bow. She pulled the string taut and felt the end of the arrow touched her cheek slightly along eith the two fingers and thumb that held it now securely in place. Willow breathed in a little to focus herself as she aimed for that little, fuzzy critter. Or at least the branch that it was so firmly planted itself on that is.

    Solitude Wolstenholme
Best, you've got to be the best.
You've got to change the world.
And use this chance to be heard.
    Your time is now.

The sun's blinding rays peeks through gaps in the thick foliage and landed into the ground, illuminating the area of effect. Days like this were the days that he treasured; he being Soltiude: full-time demigod. The boy was walking along a desolate dirt trail which appeared to have not seen use in many years. Not many people form camp came to the forest, or so it seemed. Sol just assumed that they feared what lived inside the brambles and various caves that speckled the landscape. To be honest, Solitude felt for safe inside the forest rather than around other people. The demigod lived up to his name. It wasn't that he despised talking and socializing with people, he just simply was not good at it. His name cursed himself. Solitude: A state of isolation. That fitted Sol extremely well. He was never accompanied by other people, well, except for sometimes Lakisha, but that is a story for a different time. It was bad enough he had shown up to prom for her. Solitude was thinking of this as his break from his four hour encounter with more than ten humans. It was awful. There was nothing to do, let alone say. Solitude sucked at talking to people. The only he could carry on a conversation was if he actually knew what he was talking about, and that in itself was quite rare. Sol wasn't the type of person to walk up to a stranger and be all bubbly and hyperactive and just no.

Dead leaves fallen from trees over the summertime crunched underneath Solitude's feet as he walked along the path, not exactly heading anywhere in particular. He was here to find peace and quiet, not to cause rambunctious trouble. Sure, he was a troublemaker, but not to nature. Some nature god would probably choke him with vines if he disrespected nature.  An arm choking you was easier to break rather than a foot thick vine.

Sol could hear the white noise of the creek to his left, rustling of animals in the leaves, and the chirps of bugs and birds as he trekked onward to his unknown destination. It was all so tranquil. Sol loved spending his days out in the forest, just meditating and sometimes training against dummies near the Capture the Flag area. Something about being outside and being alone made Solitude feel calm and content, but was that such a good thing? Wasn't a seventeen year old boy supposed to have a bunch of friends and be out partying every night and whatnot? Sol didn't know that answer, but he knew that whatever normal guys his age did, he definitely did not. Hell, there weren't even many people his age at this camp. Only a few kids were older than him and he only knew one: Lakisha, who was eighteen. Sol always wanted to be the type of person who was the life of the party and who everyone looked forward to seeing, but he was not that and most likely never would be. He would probably be horrified if he ever did become that as well. It wouldn't be natural. Sol was meant to live in solitude.

The boy comes to a sudden stop when he hears footsteps near him to his left. Squinting to see better, he could make out brown hair on the top of a person's head. Judging from the length and voluminousness of it, it was most likely a girl. Sol could also see the top of a bow, held in shooting position. This girl was hunting game. Sol, intrigued at the fact that another person was in the forest, slowly and cautiously makes his way behind the girl, making sure not to step on leaves or anything else that could be the source of noise. Stealthiness was something Solitude excelled in despite his bulk. He was quite proud of it, but never had any to show off to. There was never anyone. Never.

Solitude was now standing about four yards behind the girl, his breath silent as he watches her take aim at what appeared to be a squirrel that was sitting on a branch, chewing away at a nut, most likely something it stole from the mess hall. The creatures were kind of annoying when it came to leaving your food alone to use to the bathroom during lunch or whatnot. You could come back to find paw prints on and missing pieces out of your pizza. Normally, Solitude was against hunting game; there was no point to aimlessly kill animals. Only kill something if it was out to kill you. That was Solitude's theory. Squirrels were different though. One day one tried to steal a morsel of pizza form right under his nose! Solitude enjoyed pizza and was not forgiving to things that attempted to steal it from him. Enough about pizza though. It is irrelevant.

Solitude takes in the way the girl was positioned and holding the bow. He was the type of person who examined how different people did different things. That way he could use different techniques to combat a certain defensive measure against one specific way of attacking. It was a smart idea to Sol. The boy makes mental notes as he watches how the girl aims and how her feet are planted in the ground. She acted and moved as if shooting was natural, which brought Solitude to believe that this girl might as well just be a child of Apollo. Most likely she was, because no non-child of him could hold a bow so confidently, as if she didn't even have to aim. Just hold up her bow, look away, and shoot. Bulls eye.

Try not to get lost [Open] Empty Re: Try not to get lost [Open]

Post by Ariel 7/31/2013, 6:28 pm

As Willow stood there in that moment it was like the world moved in slow motion around her. The sounds hit her ears of water moving somewhere in the background and the slight rustle of the leaves that hung loosely from the thin branches above her head. The shadows shifted slightly as they danced on the ground and up against the large trunks of the trees around her. She could hear her heart beating and the slow and steady rhythm of her breathing that was, methodical and thought out as not to distract her from the target in front of her. She hung there, as if stuck in time even though she couldn't have been standing there for more then maybe a minute or less. It felt like so much longer though as she brought herself back to awareness.

The squirrel just continued to sit there, nibbling away at some nut or piece of food it had gathered from somewhere. It could have gotten that from anywhere, though the fluffy tailed rodents were known to make stops around the mess hall for the chance at some scrap of food or the occasional handout. Not like she gave them anything nor left her stuff unattended in that area, she knew better then that and she rather liked eating all of the food she had picked to be on her plate. But even with her own annoyance towards the small critters she still didn't aim to kill this one, even though she was sure one few squirrel wouldn't be noticeable but much obliged by the numerous people who had a bit of their lunches snatched from them by the arrogant and cocky little rodents.

Willow breathed in once more and held it for just a second then slowly exhaled as she locked in her aim. The small knot in the branch that was right underneath where the squirrel was sitting. Hitting it would be her accomplishment for the day as the small, raised section was only an inch or two in diameter and hardly large at all. Willow felt a sense of relief in her arms as she let the arrow go and it flew away from the bow and straight towards her target. It spun slightly as it whizzed by and if one listened close enough they could hear the celestial bronze tip cut right through the air as if it was nothing at all.

Thud. The arrow now sat planted in the tree bark just a few centimeters left if where she had aimed. The squirrel scampered off, bit she was happy enough with the outcome. If she was trying to kill it she would have been very disappointed but she was instead aiming simply for the area underneath where the creature sat. She couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed in herself by not hitting exactly where she had wanted, but she hit very close so she really couldn't complain much. Willow sighed a little as she lowered the bow to her side and following suit was her free hand which she quickly made a fist and released as she tried to shake the tension from her hand. She walked about a half step as she went to retrieve the arrow from the branch where it had made itself quite comfortable, but not before getting a feeling as if she was being watched. She had noticed it a little bit earlier but thought nothing more on it, but now she couldn't shake the feeling of someone quietly observing her.

Willow abandoned her arrow for the moment and instead pivoted on the balls of her feet and grabbed an arrow from the quiver that was still firmly strapped over her shoulder. In one fluid motion she turned to face whoever or whatever  was behind her as she pulled the arrow against the string a little to get it ready. Willow half expected to see a monster; some hellhound or cyclops or something but instead she was a little surprised by the seemingly normal looking boy in front of her. She lowered her bow slightly but didn't lessen the pressure that she put on the, string. It wasn't that she thought he was necessarily dangerous but she usually never saw anyone out this way. The trails were worn and usually abandoned and a lot of the demigods back at camp avoided this, area like the plague. So to see another person there caught her slightly off guard.

Willow raised her eyebrow a little as, she looked at him and she tilted her head slightly as she observed him. She wasn't quite sure what to say then again in most social situations she wasn't sure what she should do or say. Her mind always told her what she should say but her mouth never seemed to get the memo. "I guess I was being watched." Willow spoke up very matter of factly. She could have introduced herself and made more small talk, but Willow wasn't that kind of girl. Besides, she enjoyed time to herself more then with others and no one ever said she was the bubbly and personable type. No, Willow never really started conversations, not that she didn't like them, as a matter of fact she actually enjoyed the conversations she had with certain people. She was just more interested in other things usually, plus the silence suited her better.

Solitude observes as the girl takes aim and pulls back the string on the bow. The girl takes her sweet time, which Sol found quite respectable, saying that she could probably hit the creature without even trying. Maybe she knew he was behind her and was just simply trying to show off? In that case, Solitude didn't want to talk to this girl. He didn't like people who just bloated themselves up to be this cool person who can do everything and whatnot. Body still and quiet as he watches her, Solitude resists the sudden urge to tap the girl's shoulder to scare her. That would be a jerk move. Instead, Solitude just watches and waits. Waits and watches.

The sound of the bow releasing and the arrow hitting wood fills the air for a short millisecond. Then there is the sound of scurrying and then nothing. The girl had missed, but was it intentionally or did she just have bad aim? Or was she trying to show off, saying "Oh, I could've killed that innocent creature, but I didn't because I'm just that nice."? Maybe she was just practicing her shots, but not wanting to kill anything? Solitude would probably never know the answer, for he would never ask the question why she didn't kill the squirrel. He wasn't an outright person. He wasn't going to ask her a question. He wasn't going to ask her anything.

"I suppose I was being watched is correct," Solitude states, his voice low and calm. He wasn't a stupid and immature child who found talking to someone of a different gender awkward or embarrassing. The boy found no such thing from talking to a girl. He found talking to a girl the same as talking to a boy. There was absolutely no difference whatsoever. Boy, girl, same base model, different features. Nothing else.

"You shoot nicely. Your father is Apollo from the information I've gathered from watching you for the past five minutes," Solitude says. Wait, was that something good to say? What if her father wasn't Apollo? Did Solitude make a fool of himself just now? Dammit, why must talking to people in general be so hard? This wasn't going to start a conversation, the girl would just say "Yes or no" and then that would be over. What would he do after that? Say something else, or just what? Ugh.

    - Willow Sheridan -

Willow moved the arrow as she let loose the pressure that she had pulled against the string in case she needed to shoot in a hurry and slowly put it back into the quiver on her back. Her bow, which was a gift from her mother and step father, was still gripped firmly in her hand and now hung to her right which was her more dominant side. A small smile, as well as the two dimples that dotted each cheek and made an appearance when ever there was any movement of her lips moved onto her face as he talked but it wasn't something she could help as it just formed on her face without her even thinking about it. It wasn't necessarily a smile that showed embarrassment or even being happy, but instead was just one of amusement at the way he responded to her and what she said. He talked so calm and low, much different then some of the other random boys she had talked to in camp who seemed so eager and willing to talk and always tried to force conversations to happen. This boy spoke calmly and it was a little refreshing to not hear the same chipper tone that seemed to fill the Apollo cabin most times.

He spoke again and deduced what most people did when they saw her shoot and that was that she was indeed a child of Apollo, she was sort of stereotypical in that sense. She knew her way around the archery area, she was pretty athletic and her endurance was good and then of course there was the healing. Yea...stereotypical Apollo child, though on the music front Willow was not gifted. Actually if Willow starts singing you should probably move away from the vicinity in order to save your ear drums from rupturing from the sound. But for once Willow almost wished she wasn't so obviously the daughter of a specific god, she wished that in some way she could remain as an unknown at first sight just like this boy who was in front of her. To have a little mystery on that front and when people saw her they wouldn't automatically know exactly who her father was. But in a camp full of demigods she assumed that would be impossible, the only way she could get the feeling of people not knowing who her father was would be if she went back home and out into the world out side of camp.

"Thank you." Willow nodded her head a little to show her gratitude for the compliment. She knew she was ok, but there were plenty of her half siblings that could rival her in skill or were even better then she was. But it was still nice to hear that she was a good shot, even if it had appeared that she had missed terribly by hitting the branch. Technically though, she did miss just a little as her arrow didn't hit exactly where she wanted it to either...but that was something for her to think on later and not right now as she stood there trying to respond to his question.

"And you would be correct. I am the daughter of Apollo. Not really able to hide it much." Willow shrugged just a little, her arms raised slightly as her shoulders hunched up and caused the brown hair that hung down on them to move a little. That was when she remembered the arrow that was still sticking out of the branch near her. She turned her head slightly towards it and looked up to see the feathered end was still there where she left it. Her body turned as she walked a few feet to reach the branch above her but before she reached her hand up to grab the lone arrow she turned her head back to the boy she did not know the name of. "And you? I believe it is customary to ask someone's god parent when we do introductions of any sort." Willow asked then reached up for the arrow above her, standing on her tip toes to try and grab her prize.

Solitude stays silent as the girl talked. If there was one thing he was, it was polite. His foster parents didn't raise him to be some type of barbaric kid who didn't care what people thought of him. Sure, it is good to not care what people think, but you might want to care if people call you disgusting and rude and you know it to be true. Sol cared very much what people thought about him on that front. He wanted people to think he was unlike all these other cretins that spent their days at camp. Sol wanted to be recognized as someone who was polite and who wouldn't judge them because they like something he didn't. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Solitude had moved from his standing position to leaning against a dead tree that was sliced clean through, making it only an elongated trunk. It probably saw some type of battle and didn't come out unscarred. He felt much better as he rested his back against the trunk. Lately his back had been bothering him, maybe he needed to go to a chiropractor. Or you know, he could tough it out like how he did with most ailments. Sol didn't care that his white and black striped shirt was getting stained. He could care less about how he looked. His shirt and khaki shorts were as much dressed up as he would ever get. The only time he got more was when he had to wear, gasp, a suit. It was prom and he sort of had to look nice. He had to make a good impression on people or Lakisha would probably have murdered him, no lie. He could see her cornering him and stabbing a knife into his side. He didn't doubt the girl one but about what she could and would do.

Back on subject. Solitude shakes his head to clear his thoughts, his blond/brown hair flailing freely before settling back down to its naturally messy state. The girl had said something while he was thinking to himself. What had she said? His god parent? Oh yeah.

"Telling everyone who your godly parent is does seem to be something everyone around this camp does when they become acquainted with someone else. I however, believe that there is power in not having anyone knowing your godly parent, so for now, mine goes unsaid. My name however, is Solitude. It's not very glamorous, but it's my name."

    - Willow Sheridan -

Willow quickly grabbed the shaft of the arrow and pulled it free from the branch, after a few tugs on it of course. It wasn't like it was just barely breaking the surface, the impact left the celestial bronze tip on the arrow firmly in there and the entire arrowhead looked like was buried in the bark of the slightly dead tree branch. She teetered herself on her tip toes for a few seconds as she was reaching for it, even though Willow was an average height she still needed to stretch in order to grab the item in the branch. Finally though with a few tugs she was able to get it out and now held onto the shaft of the arrow and held the bronze tip up to her face where she blew off a little bit of dust that it had picked up when it made impact with the tree.

She turned around just as the boy who introduced himself as Solitude began to speak. Solitude spoke and it seemed like every word he said had purpose behind them, it was hard to explain but when he spoke it seemed like he precisely picked out each word that he said for just that occasion and it was as if no word felt out of place. She sighed though as he said he would not reveal his godly parent. She wished she could have done that and now she cursed her bad luck under her breath for having such an obvious father. He seemed to be the cause of a lot of her troubles it seemed. Mainly just the fact that he was obviously never around as most gods never were for their kids. But at least she had her step father who filled that role, it was more then she could say for some of the kids here at camp.

Solitude...Solitude? Willow thought she had heard the name before, maybe once or twice in passing but she couldn't place exactly where she had heard it. Probably some sort of gossip that she happened to hear while she was hanging out in the Apollo cabin on her bunk, it wasn't like there was anywhere to have a private conversation there or anything in the cabin. She personally hated gossip and the chatter that came along with it, a few of her cabin mates seemed to be a fan though and she never understood why. It was none of her business what others did with their spare time, so why even bother worrying about it in anyway? She did try to think back though to remember if anyone had mentioned his god parent, but alas there was nothing. Only a name that seemed familiar that someone had said and a girl or something that he had maybe been with. The details were fuzzy and honestly Willow didn't care enough to try and think more on the subject.

"Solitude. It's different, unique really." Willow liked the sound of it, it was something different and unique. When people said his name there could really be only one person they were talking about. She could confidently say that she had never met anyone else with that name before. She then held her hand up to wave slightly as her lips curved slightly upwards into what could really only be described as an awkward grin...thing. "I'm Willow. Just Willow." She was never one for handshaking or really touching other people much and so she abstained from putting her hand out for the usual introductory handshake that seemed to be popular with people. It may have seemed rude, and she hoped it wouldn't, but she was just not big on doing it. Usually a simple and sometimes awkward wave was sufficient enough.

Solitude resists smirking at the girl's wave. She was acting as if she didn't exactly know how to have a conversation. What a perfect combination for Solitude! Most of the kids at this camp were over bubbly and hyperactive. The ADHD and Dyslexia in Solitude were both very faint in Solitude. The ADHD only made it so he couldn't sit still, but he conquered that. He had spent days just sitting in his bed, doing nothing and being a statue. It helped correct the issue a bit, but it was still something wrong in the wiring of his brain that he couldn't fix. He just helped address the issue. As for the Dyslexia, non-stop reading helped him a lot. He had read a lot of books to try to correct the disorder. Just never ask him to read aloud. Like, he could do it, but he was a bit slow. Maybe this girl was like him? Barely touched by the curse of a demigod? The way she held her bow and stood silently proved that her ADHD couldn't be that bad. But how was Sol to know? You mustn't judge people. They are manipulative creatures. Who had said that? Was it Victroce, or Lakisha, or just some random guy? Whoever it was, he was totally correct.

Solitude was thinking of asking the girl about why she waved, but stopped himself. It was her form of a handshake, just like how you nod your head instead. Sol's ever so prominent conscious tells him. Letting out a puff of air, Sol nods his head to the girl.

"Willow, that's quite the unique name as well," Solitude says, his voice even and showing no sign of fear or whatever guys get when they talk to girls. Solitude could care less that she was a girl. What bothered and plagued him was that she was a human. A human made Sol much more uncomfortable than a girl did.

ooc; sorry it's so small, my battery is starting to go down low so I rushed it.

Solitude seemed to be a boy very similar to Willow in a lot of ways. It was refreshing and a different feeling for her. Most times she just ignored the people around her and their loud, somewhat obnoxious and nosy ways. Actively looking for conversations was never something Willow did and she knew a lot of the people at camp found it a little odd. Or at least the small amount of people she had encountered so far did. But that was ok, she liked the quiet and the peace that came with being alone. Plus trying to get someone to come out here with her would be next to impossible with the reputation that this area had. Plus it seemed everyone at camp was far more interested in getting boyfriends and girlfriends then doing anything substantial with their time. No, Willow was not like them she was more interested in being with herself and practicing her shooting as well as exploring and hiking.

He nodded to her as she introduced herself and commented on her name being unique. Of course compared to his name it was far from it but she still took what he said and nodded to it. "Compared to Solitude my name is pretty common." She blurted out a little, not really realizing that what she said might be taken as a little rude. She tried not to make a big deal about it though or try to really change or edit what she said. The thought was already out there so she would only make herself look stupid by trying to take back what she said. She wondered now about why he was here now, not saying this boy couldn't go where he pleased but it wasn't like this was the most popular area in the camp and most times she never saw a single person pass her by. That was why she particularly liked this part, she didn't have to talk to the campers back at Camp Half-blood and could escape from their chatter for a few hours. "So I have got to ask, what brings you out here? It's not like I see many people walk these worn down trails often."

A short chuckle escapes Solitude's unmoving lips when Willow comments on his name. He had never heard of anyone being named Willow, so it was quite alien sounded to the boy. Wasn't a willow a type of tree or something? Why name your child after a bush? Well, then again, Solitude was named after a state of isolation, but that was different, right? Uh, not really.

"I've never heard of anyone being named after a tree," Solitude says jokingly in reply to her could've-been-taken-as-offensive statement. It didn't offend Sol in any way though. He was used to having people gawk at his abnormal name. The thing was that Solitude liked his name, despite it's uniqueness. And that was exactly why. It was unique. It helped define who he was. He was one of the only people in the world with such a name, and he took that very seriously. He was proud to have such an uncommon name. Like above stated, he enjoyed being unique.

As Willow begins to speak again Solitude sits down on a fallen tree. It was slightly uncomfortable, for he had nothing holding his back up, but it felt good to lay pressure off on his legs. He listens intently as Williw speaks, hoping she had some sort of conversation starter. Instead, it was about why he was out here. Solitude sighs and purses his lips, staring off into the foggy distance.

"The same reason you're out here. No one ever comes out here. They fear the forest. I fear not the forest, but the things that lurk in it. Stay away from the things and you'll be fine."

Willow chuckled a little as Solitude mentioned the uniqueness of her name jokingly. She was just glad that he didn't get offended by her statement but instead joked back. But she guessed he was right, Willow wasn't your everyday name like Mary or John, but he had never met her mother who was unique herself. Plus it was her name and she liked it, she liked nature and the trees and being out in the open with a bow in her hand and some open space to enjoy. Willow's name was fitting she felt and she would much rather go by that then her middle name or something.

"Well, if you knew my mother the name Willow would seem very common. And of course normal." Willow could have mentioned the fact that her mother's name was Mockingbird or at least the fact that she officially went by that and made everyone call her that. Even Willow's more "yuppie" grandparents as her mother called them. Being 'bohemian' must have been Mockingbird's way of rebellion or something because whenever Willow had visited them they always cringed when Mockingbird corrected them after they called her Margaret. But going into her family history was something she was sure this boy didn't want to hear nor was interested in knowing. If he asked she would share but she knew how she was and she knew that she hated it when people just started talking to her about things she didn't really care to know. If she wanted to know she would ask and she assumed Solitude was the same way.

Solitude mentioned the forest and he knew why she was there, actually he had been right on with his assumption. She had gone there to escape the other campers and this place was guaranteed to be pretty much camper free. He alsi gave a sort of warning about the 'things that lurk' in the woods around them. She knew he meant the monsters that made this place their home and were stocked here for practice encounters and whatnot. Willow wasn't worried about them though and as she looked off in the same direction as him she spoke again.

"I'm not afraid of the things here. I'm more freaked out by the things back there." Willow pointed back towards camp as she mentioned the campers. Their chipper attitudes were almost unnatural. "At least the things out here I can shoot. Apparently if you let off an arrow towards a camper that's considered against the rules." Willow grinned at her own somewhat cruel joke. But she did just want to shoot the other campers at times, mainly when they got on her nerves.

Solitude was a bit curious about what Willow's mother's name was, but he was not going to ask. It was obvious she didn't want to say it, otherwise she would've, right? The boy from a young age learned not to ask questions because they would either be answered later on or were supposed to be left unanswered and not thought about. Sol respected Willow's privacy, so he wasn't going to push her. The boy finds himself standing yet again, for he felt odd sitting while Willow was standing.

A small laugh escapes Solitude's lips as he listens to Willow speak about how she wanted to possibly murder some campers. Sol knew that feeling. He himself had wanted to kill some campers many more times than once. They were just so annoying at times. They never seemed to leave Solitude alone, even if he made it very clear that he did not want to converse with them. They were like bugs on a muggy summer evening. Always flying in his face and never leaving him alone.

"I know exactly how you feel, trust me on that one."

Willow lets a laugh escape her lips as they curved slightly upwards into a smile that was probably the largest smile anyone was going to see on her face. Not to say Willow never smiled, she just didn't do it often and when She did is wasn't anything bigger then a grin. Her laughter was never out of control and the curvature of her lips was nothing more then a slight upwards curve. It was good to know Solitude felt similar to her when it came to this and he wasn't going to say something along the lines of "don't think like that, it isn't very nice," or something reprimanding her.

"Yea, it's like they know you don't want to talk to them so they specifically try to force you into a conversation. And then gossip..." Willow just sighed as she thought about it. That was the worst part of being around camp, the fact that people gossiped constantly about everything; who was dating who, who kissed who and who went with who to prom, which was an event Willow made sure to keep her distance from. Willow always kept a look of interest on her face though,  she wasn't rude after all and her mother always told her to be nice.

Willow noticed a large, dead tree that seemed to have either fallen or been cut down or forced to fall. Either way it now laid down across one of the worn trails and was surrounded by a few bushes and rocks. She set her bow down on the top of the trunk and sat down on it, her legs freely dangled underneath her. She looked over to Solitude and while he never asked anything about her at all he had a look to him that seemed to want to know more even if he didn't say it. Willow had gotten good at reading people, plus Solitude was similar to Willow in a lot of ways and she knew how she was and knew she never asked even if it was something she really was curious about.

"My mother's name is Mockingbird. Or...that's what she likes to be called." It was sudden and random and she wasn't even sure if Sol wanted to know at all but she said it anyways. If anything it would break the silence around them a little as it seemed both of them weren't sure exactly what to talk about.

Solitude finds himself sitting back down on the fallen tree, for Willow had sat down as well. The boy lets a tiny grin play on his lips as he listens to the girl's assumption of a glance in a normal camper's mind. It did seen true though. The kids never seemed to stop bugging Sol. He never knew any of the kids yet they all somehow knew him. Was he that popular? That couldn't be possible. Solitude never did anything with other people besides with Lakisha and Victroce. Why would people even gossip about him? He wasn't anything special or something like that. He was just your average everyday camper at Camp Half-Blood.

The name "Mockingbird" somehow didn't sound strange to Sol at all. It seemed more normal than "Solitude". The demigod stares at Willow as she talked, just as his mother and father taught him. Never avert your eyes. It makes you appear as weak and a coward. Plus, it isn't polite to move your eyes away from a subject. Yep, that sounded exactly like something his dad would say. Well, technically it wasn't his "dad" but whatever. It wasn't his fault his mother killed herself and Sol was put in the hands of her friend and her boyfriend. Okay, maybe it was his fault. Sol felt terrible about it, but he knew it was the truth. His mother killed herself because she thought she wouldn't be able to raise a child without her husband. Sol took the blame for the death of his mother, because he was the reason why she harmed herself fatally. A look of sadness spreads across his face for a mere second, but leaves as soon as it comes. He found himself how looking at the ground, his messy golden-brown hair hanging off of his head around him. He slowly turns his head back up to look at Willow.

    "Mockingbird . . . very unique indeed."

Willow had been a little surprised by the reaction from Solitude, not for the reasons she expected though. She was not surprised by his short and direct answers. She had gotten used to it at this point and she was also not surprised by the look that suggested he did not think her mother's name was that strange. Though in her opinion Mockingbird wasn't very strange either, just more unique then most names that people called their children. What she was surprised by was the small sign of sadness that came onto his face almost as quickly as oit left. For most people, they may not have noticed it at all as it was almost like a twitch of his face. But it was definitely something that she noticed, and she knew it wasn't just her imagination. The entire time Willow spoke to Sol it seemed like he didn't show much emotion on his face, as if he could wipe his features so that he looked serious and indifferent. So to see this small tinge of sadness move onto his face made her wonder a little.

Willow thought about asking him what was wrong. She had a feeling she knew why, but she didn't have the courage to ask,  nor would she even if she did. She assumed it was because she mentioned her mother and she knew that not every demigod was in as good of shape when it came to family. Willow was considered lucky when it came to her family, her mother was still alive and she wasn't forced from her home or felt the need to leave in order to spare her family from monster attacks. Even as a daughter of Apollo she was generally looked over, her power wasn't strong enough to attract monsters and her aura must not have been overwhelming. Beaverton, Oregon didn't seem to be a monster hotspot which worked out well enough from her. But Willow knew that most campers did not have such a happy story surrounding their families.

Willow couldn't help but wonder as her eyes looked towards the ground if she had hit a nerve. She felt bad at the possibility that this was the case, but she tried not to think much on it. This was exactly the reason she avoided most conversations with people as to avoid these awkward situations. She decided to get off the family topic and just try to stick to something harmless, something with less emotions behind them.

"Yea, unique. My mother is definitely...unique." A grin subconsciously crawled across her face as she thought about her mother. "So, when you come out here do you just hike?" Hopefully this topic would be more benign and harmless, the less emotions the better.

Solitude, within the first second after showing a faint hint of sadness, regretted it. It was a terrible mistake to him. Sol had always been taught to never show emotion; never show when you're hurt, mentally or physically. The boy attempts to clear his head, but to no avail. Images he had seen as a child kept flashing through his mind now, refusing to go away and be locked back up inside the depths of his mind. Closing his eyes, Sol takes a deep breath and tries to calm his flurrying mind down. It works to an extent and Solitude builds the ability to look back at Willow, a grin on his face. He had shown his fear and he was pretty sure that Willow had tooken that into account, judging looking at her facial expression.

"That was the first time I've felt like that in a long while," the demigod says, his left arm scratching his left for a second before resting on his lap. He looks to the forest behind Willow, making sure no one or no monsters where hiding in the bushes and overgrowth. There was nothing, or at least the area looked to be unoccupied. Sol reaches into his pocket with his right hand and it grips around the handle of his knife. Just so he could be ready in case anything came out of nowhere, snarling and ready to eat some demigod for dinner. The sun was starting to set, leaving the sky with streaks of pink, yellow, and purple in the sky. If Sol was a photographer, it would be the perfect shot. Instead of a photographer, Solitude was a hunter. The scene told Sol that monsters would be out soon be out prowling the woods, which in turn told him to take out his knife and be ready. Sure, he had his sword by his side in a sheath, but a slash with a knife would be much faster and possibly could save a life.

Solitude turns back to Willow as she asks him a question. So when you come out here do you just hike? Sol shakes his head at the girl.

"No. Sometimes I come out to hunt. Others to just rest. Today I was actually out hunting, hence the sword by my side. I can't use a bow for the life of me, so I have to rely either on brute speed and force or throwing knives to get my game. I don't exactly kill animals though. I hunt more dangerous creatures. Now Greek monsters, I have no issue fighting; they put up a nice right as well," the demigod informs her, his grin now gone and replaced with his usual dismal and serious facial structure. He hoped he hadn't came off as bragging, because Sol had no intentions of doing so. She asked and he answered, hopefully she would understand that.

Willow wanted to keep her eyes down towards the ground but knew she couldn't sit there in her own guilt forever. But she knew it was her fault in a way that he had that quick moment of sadness that had flashed onto his face. Willow looked up though as Solitude began to speak as not to seem rude and also because she knew she needed to face him eventually. She knew that she couldn't sit there in silence with her eyes glued to the ground forever, even though her first instinct was to do just that and the fact that Sol seemed to have hardly any emotions show up on his face meant that something she said struck a chord deep within him that made this change occur.

That was the first time I've felt like that in a long while. His words echoed in her ears for a few moments as she put on one of her grins, trying her best not to broadcast her emotions on her face. But that was sonething she felt she usually failed at doing, though she still attempted to try and hide what she was thinking the best she could. There were a few things she wanted to say, things to try and comfort him in anyway, or to try and probe deeper into why this sudden show of emotion happened to pop up. But there was nothing that would come out of Willow's mouth as it felt like her mouth and throat were too dry or too tensed up to release the words into to open for the boy to hear.

Instead Willow just listened as Solitude answered her second question. It seemed he too liked to hunt out here in the forest and more and more it seemed that Willow and Solitude were even more similar then she originally thought. He spoke of his skills and it seemed like that was something he had no problem talking about as he listed his talents in the field. It was always interesting for her to hear about how others hunted, some used swords, or knives, or daggers and of course almost every child of Apollo used a bow. But even still she was mesmorized by the different ways that people fought as her mind seemed to only be interested in the act of shooting.

As Solitude spoke, Willow became more and more aware of the sky and how the sun seemed to be moving closer and closer to the horizon. Soon enough it would be night and these woods would belong to the various monsters that called this place their home. Willow moved her fingers around as she felt for the comforting feel of her bow and as her fingers grazed the surface of the flexible wood she could feel the carvings that were decoratively placed along the sides. She wanted it close in case something popped out and tried to make a meal of her. While she didn't kill that squirrel earlier, it didn't mean she wouldn't kill anything at all.

"It must be nice to use a sword proficiently. I really only know how to use a bow and a hunting knife." Willow glances down for just a second, really noticing now the sword that was sheathed at Solitude's side. "I'm sure your strength helps you a lot. I almost wish I was stronger, then maybe in a close combat situation I wouldn't be at such a high risk of injury." Willow shrugged slightly after saying that piece of information. Sometimes it wasn't wise to speak of your shortcomings so people didn't know the best way to take you down, but Willow didn't ever mind. Plus she always seemed to do that anyways. Say something flattering then immediately follow it up with a shortcoming. That way people knew you weren't bragging or trying to show off.

"And I know what you mean about not normally killing animals. I never do, I just don't have any use for a dead squirrel nor any good reasons to do that sort of thing. Now a monster I have plenty of good reasons to kill." She said after a slight pause with a grin on her face. She liked speaking of hunting, it was one of the things she actually knew a little bit about after all.

Solitude takes a glance at Willow's face for a second before turning to face the woods once again. Solitude, from what he saw and was able to decipher, deducted that Willow was feeling bad for him. She didn't have the right to though. She didn't know what the demigod had been through. The girl probably had a story of her own though. All demigods did. Some were ridiculous, others were plain out sad. Some kids had been out through so much, others lived their lives in mansions with hundreds of servants to do as they wish. Solitude was no rich kid, and he was glad he wasn't. His life with his parents that he had was a life he cherished and enjoyed. He was glad the past wasn't anything different. Sure, he had his ups and downs, but it was still a past he was proud of and happy over. Sol was lucky. He had two foster parents who loved him as if he was their own child. He had seen kids who looked like they had spent their lives in trash cans at the camp before. Sol was ever so glad he wasn't one of those kids. Sol has to deal with two parents he didn't even remember, other kids had to deal with watching some monster rip their parents to shreds. This made Sol start to wonder about Willow. What was her past like? What happened to her? What was her unique and incredible story?

As much as Sol suddenly wanted to know, he didn't say anything about it. He knew better than asking people he hardly knew questions, especially if she had a hurtful past that would make her hate him for bringing it up. Instead, Sol focuses on how she had been looking at him.

"Don't feel sorry for me. There is nothing for you to be sorrowful over," he tells her, his voice once again steadied and showing no hint of how he was feeling. The boy specialized in that; hiding emotions. He could just lock them up inside of his head and put a blank face over his head as a mask. No one even noticed. Maybe Willow did though, for she had caught his hint of sadness. He knew she did. They way she looked at him and talked, she had saw it in his face. Sol regretted it all the more the more he though about it. I'm so weak. So weak.

Wanting to get off the subject, Sol was about to start talking when Willow began to speak. Thank you so much. Sol listens intently as Willow speaks, her words seeming to be carefully chosen, as if she was walking over thin ice, taking slow and light steps so the ice wouldn't crack. She made a mistake in her words. Sol wasn't sure if she had caught it or not, but she made it a point that she wasn't very strong. Never let them know how strong you are. Always keep them assuming. The phrase replays in Sol's mind. He had learned that from some Ares kid when he had first arrived at camp. It was the best advice someone had ever given him. It had helped the demigod many times, for people often underestimated him, or as in Willow's case, overestimated. The boy finds himself laughing quietly as he turns back to face Willow.

"You gave out a flaw, so I might as well. Well, actually, now that I think about it. You said that you aren't good with a sword. Here's a tip: never give out your flaws, just like how I didn't give out my god parent. It allows the enemy to easily evaluate you and find weak spots. It would be unfair if I found out things about you without you knowing anything about me, correct? Well, the world isn't a fair place and this life isn't a fair one. I'm going to be fair for a moment though, if you don't mind. My godly parent is Polydeuces, the god who no one ever knows about. I already told you I'm not good with a bow, so there is another thing. One last thing is that I don't exactly enjoy fighting like most of the mediocre kids that reside at this camp. I prefer to use my mind over my muscles. More than often is your mind a better weapon than your sword arm. Sure, why bother using your head when you can just slash someone in half effortlessly? Because that, my dear Willow, is just plain out disgusting and cruel. If someone attacks you, you defend yourself. You don't fight back, you defend. Never be the first to attack. If attack someone in public, you are the assaulter. However, if you are attacked first, you can unleash a volley of arrows or a knife slash to the chest without getting in trouble. Gods, I just rambled horribly. Sorry about that. Now about the monsters..."

At that time, Solitude stands up and unsheaths his sword from its case. He grins at Willow, then starts walking off slowly, his footsteps barely audible over the sound of crickets chirping and trees rustling in the light summer breeze. This was why Sol loved the forest. The thrill of the hunt never failed to make Sol feel full for a short while. It gave him a purpose. He was making people safer, one by one. It was an odd way to look at it, but Solitude wasn't exactly the most normal kid out there.

Willow forced a grin on her face, Solitude was right after all. If he said there was nothing for her to feel sorry for then there was nothing she should. Besides, she didn't know his story and didn't have all the facts. Maybe he too just missed his family like she missed hers and that was the cause for the one show of emotion on his face. Willow decided though to push all those thoughts out of her mind. She resolved to no longer dwell on the next to nothing information she had on his past and just needed now to focus on the present. Plus, being in her head too much would just take away focus from the more important things, like the environment around her that was growing darker as the time slipped by her.

Willow listened intently as he spoke. Never in the entire time had she spoken to the mysterious boy named Solitude had she heard him speak so much at one time. The grin she had on her face now transformed a little as the corners of her lips curled slightly on one side, creating an almost lopsided smile. But it was one that was genuine, not like most of the obviously fake smiles she gave to most of her peers. He pointed out how she spoke of her flaws and not her talents, the spoke on himself; revealing in all of that who is father was. The god Polydeuces. She had heard stories before but really all she could recall off the top of her head was hunting or something like that. It was in this moment that Willow realized she should probably attempt to try and learn a bit more about Greek mythology then what she has been "learning" so far. Though to be honest Willow would much rather be outside in the woods and practicing her archery then inside learning. That was the perk of being homeschooled by her mother back home, there was never a time where she was cooped up in a room. Plus shooting kept her mind occupied, and while she was not cursed with ADHD like most demigods or dyslexia she still had some focus issues, and shooting was her way of keeping calm.

"I hadn't noticed that you rambled at all. Actually it was all advice I should keep in mind at all times. I do tend to give out my flaws, even if I don't mean to." Willow looked straight at him as her face seemed unchanged from what it was a few moments ago. She didn't feel bad about what she said though nor did she feel the need to try and apologizing for telling her his weaknesses. He was entirely right though. And here she thought she was a hunter but all along it was like she made herself prey. Normally she tried to act distant and indifferent but it seemed she let her own awkwardness in conversations about herself trip her up. She had revealed too much and there was no more left to wonder about, no more mystery surrounding Willow which made her the perfect target if someone meant to cut her down.

Willow went to open her mouth as she was about to speak some more but it was then she watched as Solitude looked back towards her with a grin and a sword now unsheathed and gripped firmly in his hand. He moved silently across the dirt, and his light footsteps could barely be heard behind the natural sounds of the woods. Sol looked like he was exactly where he was meant to be as he stalked the unseen prey that he had yet to find. Willow knew better then to call out, this was the same way she was when she hunted, silent and deadly and ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey at anytime. She grabbed her decorated bow and jumped down as quietly as she could from where she was perched and landed firmly on both feet. She followed behind him but kept some distance between her and Sol, her ears now opened for even the slightest sound that suggested something was nearby. The crack of a branch or even the sounds of increased movements in the branches that were different then just the summer breeze blowing against the branches. Her footsteps were light and methodical as not to land someplace where the leaves or twigs that were scattered across the surface of the worn dirt trails. It was here, in these moments where Willow felt comfortable and calm and alive, even with the chance of something attacking here this was where she felt safe.

Solitude didn't answer Ariel and didn't plan on it. He was in a hunting mode. He stayed quiet and regulated his breaths, quieting them on the chilly night. Solitude hated the summer in New York. It was blistering hot in the daytime, but during the night it would basically snow. The demigod watches as his breath becomes a smoke in the air, only made visible by the moonlight that graced the forest. Sol had been doing this for years, so he liked to think that he was pretty damn good at it. One of the first things he was taught was to make sure he kept quiet. This lesson had saved his life more than once. A lot of the monsters out in the woods were dependent on hearing and smelling, not so much by eyesight. The keenest was their hearing though. They could sniff out a demigod to find a whereabouts with many variables as to where the demigod is, but if they hear let alone a twig snap or a lead crunch, that certain demigod was done for. It was kind of hard for Sol to be quiet, but despite his height and bulk, he made it seem easy to stay quiet. The boy's footsteps were light and carefully placed. His ears picked up sounds from all directions and in the background his brain computed whether the sound came from a monster or not. Sol's eyesight was naturally bad, but he wore contacts, which corrected his vision to slightly better than 20/20. He relied heavily on his eyes, as many people do. Sight was one of the most important sense for a demigod, for a blind demigod wielding a sword can't exactly do much, can it? Not one bit.

All was clear for the most part. Sol's head snapped often to the sound of a branch snapping or leaves rustling in the wind. So far though, he had laid eyes on no monsters. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? Sure, the forest seemed safe, but all the while Solitude was helping to deplete a wide family if creatures. Or would it be something like Phylum? What was it, KPCOFGS? Yeah, Kings Play Chess On Fine Glass Sets. Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. So which one could it be? Maybe it was just all of them. Could I just say "I'm depleting a Phylum of animals? Would that make me sound weird? Probably. Gods, I need to stop talking to myself mentally and focus!

The boy snaps back into reality to find himself coming to a clearing. Everything seemed to be devoid of monster activity, but Sol couldn't trust just his vision and hearing. He turns to Willow and signals for her to go right, around the circle. They would meet on the other end. The clearing had a hefty circumference, and it would take a little while to survey around it. Sol then grips his sword tightly and starts making his way to the left, trying to use as little movement and making as little noise as possible. One snap and we could both be screwed.

Everything was nice and quiet as Solitude didn't speak or respond to what she said at all, but it was better that way anyways. They were hunting now and there was not time for idle chit chat, plus that would alert the prey and nobody wanted that. Plus she was good at this, at hunting, where the talking about herself and talking about things for an extended period of time was not so easy. She had been doing this forawhile now and she found that killing a monster was far eeasier then talking to people for more then an hour. This was exactly why most people found Willow out in the woods alone and not hanging out in the common areas surrounded by chatting a gossiping teens her age.

Willow kept moving, carefully placing each step she took as she avoided stray leaves that had long since died and fallen to the ground. An accidental step on one of those would send a crack loud enough to alert a horde that was just waiting to attack. Her breathing was thought out and steady as the adrenaline rushed through her, keeping her senses keen and ready to alert her of any change in her environment. She followed behind Solitude with her bow gripped in her dominant right hand as she slowly reached for an arrow from her sheath which was full of the celestial bronze tipped arrows. She didn't notch it though or pull it yet against the string and instead just held it in her left hand. More occupied with observing her surroundings. Plus her relfexes were good and she needed only a few seconds to aim to kill.

The pair reached a clearing now and in Willow's mind it had been quiet. Almost a little too quiet. She looked to Sol to see if he had caught a glimpse of anything but the only thing he seemed to tell her  was a motion that suggested she take watch on one side as he looked around the other end. She quickly nodded to show her agreement with the plan the started moving forwards, her steps still as quiet and planned put as usual. She pulled her arrow against the string and notched it as she kept herself close the ground, ready for anything that may pop out at her or her companion.

It was quiet, except the sounds of a few crickets playing their tunes in the background and then of course the light wind moving through the leaves. Willow saw nothing move either and she wondered for a moment if they had happened to come out on a night where the monsters had decided not to venture far from their dens. She was about to turn her head to face Solitude when she heard it. It wasn't extremely loud, but she heard the sound of footsteps and what sounded like a branch snapping in half. This wasn't from Solitude, he was too careful and he knew what he was doing; plus the sound did not come from his direction but instead straight in front of her. She lifted her bow up with the arrow still notched and ready as she looked out into the line if trees in front of her, looking to spy the thing that made the sounds. Willow quickly glanced hoping to get Sol's attention and hoping he too had heard the noise and that it wasn't just some figment of her imagination. She didn't shoot in the area of the noise though, knowing better then to waste an arrow on something she couldn't quite see yet and just waited. Waited for it to show itself.

Solitude suddenly stops in his steps. He heard something. No doubt about it. Taking in a deep yet quiet breath, he looks around his half of the circle. The only thing really moving were leaves and branches, but that was because of the slight chilly August breeze that came and went throughout the minutes. Despite the look of things, Sol still steels himself. Something could be above him, in the trees, or below him, underground. Monsters of all shapes, sizes, and specialties lurked in the forest, especially this part. The boy starts to move in a small circle around the area where he was standing when he heard the noise. There didn't appear to be anything that was the source of the noise. The demigod forces himself to keep his cool and to stay quiet. He didn't want to mess anything vital up. He starts slowly walking back around the circumference of the opening that Willow and he had split going around. Willow.

Sol's head snaps to where Willow's area that she was supposed to check. He couldn't see her for a few seconds, but the gleam of moonlight off of the tip of an arrow tipped the boy off. There must be something then, for he wasn't the only one who heard it. Hopefully it was just nothing. Sure, they came out into the forest to hunt, but not exactly monsters that were somewhat stealthy, like how this one was; if it was even anything. It might've just been a misplaced footstep by one of them or something. Sol, still looking towards Willow, sees something not far in front of her move in the shadows. He was sure of it. He needed to get over there and fast.

Steadying his grip on his sword, Sol starts making his way towards the edge of the clearing, nearest to the center. He makes a quick look both left and right, then makes a dash for it. His footsteps light and quiet, Sol was pretty sure he wouldn't even be heard. Then again, when you have a body of his stature and size, it is kind of hard to stay quiet. As he makes his way to the edge of Willow's side of the clearing, Sol hears a very low and guttural growl. Pushing the oxygen out of his lungs, Sol forces his body to speed up and he finally tears into the area where Willow was. It looked as if no one had noticed him, so that was good. He slowly creeps up on Willow until he was by her side.

"There is something out there," Soltiude states, his voice managing to stay low and calm, despite the fact that he could be torn to pieces any second now.

Willow kept her bow up and her aim trained on the area where she had last heard and saw something out in the tree line. She kept both her eyes and ears open as she waited to hear another sign of where this monster was and where it might be heading. That was the one thing her step-father always made sure to tell her when she shot moving targets, "never aim for them aim for where they are going to be." Which was the most valuable piece of advice she had ever gotten about shooting because it was nothing but true when it came to shooting a bow. Aim was all about intuition and knowing your target's movements which is why Willow usually spent some time observing her targets beforehand instead of just blindly shooting at them as soon as she spotted them like an amateur would do. Now she just hoped she would catch a glimpse of it long enough so that she wasn't going to be going in to this fight blind.

It was dark now at this point as the moon had come to the top of the sky and pushed the sun out of its domain, or as she was now basically told that her father had pulled the sun down for the day. She knew her clothes were darker in color so at least she also had that on her side, she wouldn't be glowing like a beacon in that bright orange shirt that a lot of the campers wore around camp. Instead her worn, brown leather jacket that she wore anytime she went hunting was on her and provided her with a little bit of camouflaging against the trees, which helped against some monsters whose eyesight wasn't the greatest. Willow's eyes searched around seeing nothing at first then catching the glimpse of a shadow move across the tree line, now she knew she wasn't just hearing things that weren't there. She had definitely seen that. Willow kept her bow up and aimed when she saw yet another movement in the shadows this time accompanied by a low and guttural growl.

Willow swallowed back any feelings of fear she had though she could feel it in her hands a little, the slight shaking that accompanied some fear. But she just tried to push it aside. If it would just show itself she would be fine, but right now it was unknown by hiding in the shadows and while she had an idea it was probably a hellhound or something because of its abilities to hide in the shadows and its speed she wasn't going to be a hundred percent sure until she got a better look at it. She could feel a presence make its way to her side and knew it was Solitude because it felt familiar and not threatening in anyways. He spoke in his usual tone, low and calm which in its own way was calming for Willow as she straightened her back and pushed any anxieties from her mind. If he could stay calm, so could she.

"Yea, I saw the shadows move. But I didn't get a good look at it. Watch my back." Willow said quietly as not to alert it by the sound of her voice. She took a few steps forwards with her bow still readied and her eyes open. She saw the bushes rustle again and the shadowy figure darted again towards the right. Willow shifted her bow's aim a little and shot ahead of it trying to hit it as it moved and just hoping she had timed it right since it's movements were quick and it darted quicker then her arrow may have been able to fly through the air. Thwack. The sound of the arrows impact and the sound of a groan or whimper came from the creature she had aimed at but it didn't seem to stop it at all or even down in. It dove into the bushes and Willow grabbed another arrow from her sheath and readied it. Waiting for the next move, it knew they were there now if it hadn't before and she was going to be its target. You can't expect to shoot something without some consequences.

Solitude, from hearing and seeing glimpses of this creature, had deduced that it was either a Chimera or a Hellhound. Hopefully it was the latter. A Hellhound was somewhat easy to take out, not so much a Chimera. Sol had slain a few Hellhounds before in his past hunting experiences, but never once had he even laid eyes on a Chimera. Judging from what he had learned from monster identification books and classes, it seemed to be one of the two. At least it was growling and not hissing. Sol's mind suddenly flashes back to the day he had to slay a Hydra with Lakisha and Victroce. That was not a good day; not in any ways. Sol had witnessed just what the creature could do: draw blood. Pursing his lips, he tries to push the memories out of his mind. Stay focused.

His sword readied for attack in his left arm, Sol slowly makes steps to he left of Willow, wanting to get on the other side of the monster so it would be trapped inbetween the two demigods. This beast was going up against two demigods that were children of weapon masters, not the best idea. The monster probably didn't know that though, so it was in for a surprise. His footsteps light and his breathing quiet, Solitude starts to makes his way over to the other side. It was tough, focusing on both his footsteps to make sure he didn't trip over the fallen branches and brambles that heavily decorated the forest and the creature that was still leaping back and forth inbetween bushes and other means of cover. It took him about two minutes to do such a simple task that should've taken only thirty seconds. It was a bit different though, saying that there was barely any light lended by the moon in this part if the forest and the lingering fact that he could be devoured any moment now. Once on the other side, Sol silently prays to the gods that Willow wouldn't accidentally shoot him. She must have had better aim than that, right? She seemed to be confident in herself, which was a good thing. Hopefully she wouldn't be a bit trigger happy and shoot Solitude. Nothing out of that could go down well.

Sol could see he creature more clearly from this position. It was a Hellhound, thank the gods. Sure, they had come out to the forest to hunt, but Sol was pretty sure that he didn't want to die from fighting a monster that two people could not take down. Plus, from what it seemed, Willow was only truly good with a bow. That wasn't a very good thing. If the Hellhound got close to her, she might be done for. She said she could use a knife, right? Right?

Solitude looks for Willow across from him and can just barely make out her slender frame from the shadows and trees that helped camouflage her. She was smart, she came out to the forest wearing darker color clothing, whereas Sol was wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a light blue shirt. Neither of them were exactly dark colors and probably didn't camouflage Sol at all. He would have to be extra careful. Great. Gods, I am so stupid. Should've worn something that would blend in. The demigod looks at Willow and mouths out the word 'Hellhound' to her. Hopefully she could read lips to an extent. Or was Sol the only person who could do that? He hadn't met anyone at camp who could do that yet. It made communicating during hunting so much harder. Enough. Start focusing on the Hellhound.

Taking his sword in both of his hands, Sol advances towards the creature that now lay inbetween the two, growling at Willow. Well, camouflage didn't exactly help this time. It had ready seen Willow. But had it seen Sol?

The events moved in an odd way around her, it felt like her own body was moving in slow motion as she aimed and shot and as the hellhound in front of her did. But before she even had time to register more then that her partner Solitude had already moved to the other side of the creature as if he moved there in a flash. It made perfect sense though, this was how it was when she hunted and all of her focus was on the enemy in front of her right now and not necessarily all on Sol. She did make the ocassional glance up though, just to see if there was something happening with him, but the two tines she had before then he was just observing. The creature had dashed back into the bushes and she took the time to look up and check in on the boy who was with her. She squinted her eyes as she noticed him mouthing something but the lowered lights made it a little hard to see. Luckily he was, wearing something a little brighter so she could still keep an eye on him, though ot wasn't the smartest choice for hunting apparel.

Willow had been able to see Sol mouth the word "..hound." Willow hadn't quite caught the first part of the word due to the lack of good light source but the hound was clear enough for her to register what he was saying. There was really only one creature that would be out in these words with a 'hound' in its name and that was of course a hellhound and her first guess at what she had shot only a moment ago. Willow sighed in relief slightly because a hellhound she could handle, and with Solitude there she had no doubts this one would fall easily. Her fear went away as the fear of the unknown was taken out of the equation,  plus she would rather have the thing in front of her then something else like a chimera or something. A hellhound could go down easy, you just had to take into account its speed and you would be fine. Willow nodded in ascent to hopefully show she understood and mouthed out "ok," to him. She figured since he mouthed to her he must be able to at least read lips, hopefully.

The thing started moving towards her again, growling and showing its teeth which compared to the rest of its black body was shining in the moonlight a bright white color. It either hadn't seen Solitude behind it or it just simply didn't care because he had yet to send an attack its way. She assumed the latter, it wasn't like Solitude was doing a very good job hiding from anything right now in the outfit he was wearing. She readied another arrow as it just slowly crawled towards her, if it jumped at her at least she knew she had her hunting knife on her, discreetly holstered to the belt around her pair of skinny jeans and tucked under her dark grey colored t-shirt. She had quick reflexes and had been used to quickly grabbing it in a bind, though her preference was to use a bow in most cases.

Her arrow aimed for its neck as she held her bow up, waiting now for the opportune moment to shoot. Willow at least wanted to make sure her partner who had now been slowly walking up behind it didn't try to go in for an attack just as she shot of an arrow because that could have terrible consequences and she did not want to be held responsible for any injury that he might obtain from her bow. Seeing though that Solitude had yet to move in for an attack she caught his gaze and nodded, trying to tell him without words of her intent to shoot. Willow aimed again for its neck, or rather a smaller area to the left of its neck that was the joint before its arm. If she could hit that area she could make it hard for it to move around and in turn easier to slay.

It all happened so quick as she went to release her arrow the hellhound jumped up towards her. She shifted the bow up a tad bit to adjust her aim and released, hitting it square in the shoulder but releasing that arrow also meant that she couldn't get out of the way in time as the beast pounced on to her and pushed her to the ground. It was all a blur as she went into overdrive and grabbed her knife and stabbed it into its side. Willow pushed the hound off of her then rolled away, feeling the slight pain in her arm which she knew was from a scratch or something. She cursed under her breath at her carelessness in the situation but she couldn't focus on it for too long, she needed to make sure her head was clear for the fight. The thing staggered a little before letting out a wounded cry. It didn't look like it was dead, but it was certainly injured and it  didn't look like it could move. At least she injured it in her little tussle with the hellhound that now lay almost dead on the leaves that made up the forest floor around them.
