"Most of the time, I would assume. Aphrodite isn't exactly a pure goddess, so I wouldn't expect anything more of her children." Rita never really liked the Aphrodite children. They always annoyed her with their girlishness, their rapid dating, and how loudly so many of them talked. She remembered on day when she was at the beach, there were these annoying Aphrodite girls that wouldn't stop giving her 'the look', which annoyed Rita into using her powers on them.

"Oh, I've noticed.... Come to think of it, I think all the gods are pretty impure. I mean, look at how many kids they have. Like Thanatos and Apollo -- how many kids do they have, forty each?" I shook my head in disgust; I dated guys, but I didn't just dump them after a week or so. The gods probably did that, leading the poor mortal men or women on. It was pretty sad, actually. Some of those mortal people probably had come to love the god they fell for. "I just hope most of them don't end up like their parents."

"Same. It seems like Thanatos really likes the ladies... But I wouldn't fathom him to be any way charming or pleasant to be around. Maybe he fakes it." Rita wondered how many kids her mom had, then sighed. "It's not fun having a parent that sleeps around. I wonder if any of the Aphrodite kids have shame in their mother, considering she's married to Hephaestus then goes off with Ares and a bunch of mortals every other night." Rita started to wonder why the goddesses would have so many kids. They would be the ones having to deal with the pregnancy and the burden of child birth. Unless of course they had some magical powers that made it all easier. She also wondered why most of the goddesses seemed to have perfect bodies, seeing that they have had so many kids. You'd think they'd be ruined in the stomach area.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure every god has a face that appeals to the... mortals." I blinked for a moment. I wasn't too used to using that term for the 'regular' people, but then again, it was the best term to use. "I'm sure Aphrodite's the best of all -- she apparently has a different face for everybody, based on what they like in a woman. Tch." I snorted slightly, looking at the sky. Afternoon fading into the evening, what a pleasant time of day. "I'm sure at least one or two of Aphrodite's kids hate her for going around all the time. I mean... it would seem she's a bit of a 'player.' I just hope she didn't stay long enough for the poor man to fall in love with her."

"That would've been awful. But in my opinion it seems like the girls fall in love easier then the guys. I would expect someone like Aphrodite to go with some one night stand sort of guy, then run off somewhere else while she was pregnant. Maybe not though. Maybe she stays with the guy..." I paused for a moment, thinking about what Rita had just said. It seems like girls fall in love easier than the guys. I nodded in agreement. "But she's a goddess -- she can get whatever man she wants, including other gods. I usually think it's a pretty equal thing when it comes to love, for both genders. I'm sure Aphrodite's ruined at least a few hundred lives in the past few centuries, but maybe she actually felt bad a few times. I dunno, she's probably been with thousands of guys, as bad as that sounds."

"She probably has." Rita decided it would be time for a subject change, so Aphrodite wouldn't randomly pop in and curse them or anything. If she felt like doing that. "Do you want to ride around on a horse for a while? There are plenty to choose from, and a lot of them look friendly." she quite enjoyed riding horses, and she wanted Meagan in on the fun.

"A horse, huh? Sure." I stood up, brushing bits of some stray hay off my backside. Horses.... I hadn't really liked real ones when I was little -- more like My Little Pony and Powerpuff Girls and all that junk. I'd seen real horses in fields while driving around with my dad when I was little, and they looked pretty peaceful. "Sure.... Do they just wander around here or something?"

"Yeah, they do." Rita signaled for her to follow, and walked over to Snow White. There was a nice looking horse right next to her. She got up on Snow White, and she stood still. "Try petting the horse and talking to it a little before jumping on it, you don't wanna startle him." she said, referring to the horse next to her. It was a pretty brown one, with a long black tail and mane.

I followed Rita over to her pretty white horse, who was right next to a brown one with a brown tail and mane. If I was a really big fan of horses and horse races, then I would probably have been freaking out, but instead I just nodded slightly and took a small step towards the brown horse, raising my hand slowly and cautiously. I didn't know what to call it, so I just said, "Here, horsey.... Hi there. I'm Meagan, and... I think I sound stupid."

Rita laughed. "It seems like animals will never like people, unless they make a stupid baby voice for them." Rita waited for the horse to warm up to Meagan and let her get on him, before riding around on Snow White, since it would come off as rude. "Why don't you name him?" she suggested. It was always fun to give something a name.

I looked at Rita strangely for a moment, then nodded slowly, seeing where she was going with this. "Him, huh?" The horse began to nudge my hand gently as I held it out towards him, tossing its head and whinnying. Okay, well, I suppose that wasn't too bad. "Let's see, what should I call you.... Not anything stupid like Max, huh?" I paused for a moment. Maybe an ancient Greek name would be fitting -- something Greek. I thought for a moment, then snapped the fingers of my free hand. "I'll call you Aeton."

Rita smiled. "That's a good name. He seems comfortable with you enough, why don't you try to ride him now?" Snow White started eating hay, and Vallary brushed her sides. She really liked this horse, even though she knew she might not see her again for a long time after getting off.

I paused, petting Aeton's snout as I looked at Rita. "Just jump onto his back without a saddle? There should be some around here...." I looked around, but I didn't see any. Maybe they were hidden behind a bale of hay or something. I pulled some hay out of the bale and held it out to Aeton, who began to nibble on it tentatively.

"Oh have you not ridden a horse? If you haven't then you're right about the saddle. I used to ride a lot, so I'm used to riding bareback and not having a saddle." Rita got off of Snow White and started searching around for a saddle that Meagan could use.

For a moment, I thought about the lyrics, staring off into space -- or, more accurately, at a tree nearby. Aeton nudged my shoulder with his nose, bringing me back to reality abruptly.

Rita looked over at Meagan, seeing that she seemed a bit zoned out. She wondered if she was thinking about anything, or if she was just zoned out. Not wanting to sound weird by asking, she just had Snow White trot around in circles around her a couple of times, then standing still. When the horse nudged Meagan, Rita chuckled a little.
"Wanna ride anywhere in particular? The riding range out here is pretty big. There are ponds, rivers, creeks, forested areas, open plains, and there are lots of animals around to view. Even a few monsters that wouldn't hurt you, as long as you keep your distance. Around the open plains there are lots of rodents and birds. Near the creeks and rivers and ponds there are lots of reptiles and amphibians. In the forest there are small animals, deer, and birds as well."
Rita started to feel like she was over-explaining, so she decided to hold off on explaining into further detail about the range.

Nature. I blinked at Rita, patting Aeton on the neck as I tried to slowly sort out what she said: we could go ride somewhere on the horses, around on foresty areas or plains. Near rivers or creeks. I nodded slowly, trying to decide which was better: the plain or the river. With the river, it'd be easier to find our way back if we just trotted along it; for the plain, it would probably be relaxing.
"We could go to the river, go along it," I finally suggested. Aeton snorted and flicked his tail, shaking his head at me. Either he was agreeing with me, or he wasn't. I wasn't a horse whisperer. I patted his snout absently, watching Rita and her horse.

Rita smiled and nodded. She liked the forest better, but the river was very nice as well. It led into the woods, so maybe they could go in there next if they walked down far enough. The horses would get a nice drink down there, which would benefit everyone. As far as Rita knew, the river was clean, since there wasn't really anything to pollute it.
"All right, lets head down to the river. Follow me."

I turned to Aeton, patting his head. "Alrighty then. Let's go, Aeton."
I began to walk forward, my hand still on Aeton's head -- or, more accurately, fingers. At first he seemed like he didn't know what to do, until I clucked my tongue at him like I was calling a dog. I took a step forward, my fingertips now barely brushing his snout, and he finally took a step forward himself. Satisfied, I walked slowly with him taking one or two hesitant steps to my five, following Rita as closely as possible. Aeton seemed to grow a bit more comfortable with me after a few moments and he began to trail behind me as I led him towards Rita with my hand on his neck.

Aeton, with his swinging tail, was beginning to walk a bit faster than my leisurely stroll could handle, so I sped up a bit with my hand on his back. I looked around -- this was a grassy place, probably close to a river. I'd never been to a river before, but there was something about this place that told me we were close, maybe the cool wind or something. Like at the beach.
"Come on, boy," I muttered, patting Aeton's head when he bent down to nibble at some grass. He lifted his head with an irritable snort and began following Rita and her horse again.

Rita sighed to herself, getting a little tired. She had been out and about most of the day, and she barely even noticed. She saw the river, and her eyes lit up.
"Here we are! Lets go get a drink of water, Snow White."

Aeton, as soon as he saw the river, began to gallop towards Rita and her horse, headed straight for the water. "Aeton, you get back here!" I called, dashing after him. His head start, however, had left a few yards' gap between us; by the time I reached Rita and her horse, Aeton was in the river, whinnying and shaking water off his head.
"Aeton," I sighed, face-palming. I looked down at Rita, who was sticking her bare feet in the water, and sat down beside her as Aeton frolicked in the river. "Guess it is nice.... Hopefully Aeton won't pull that stunt often."
