Rephaim really wished that this prom was Halloween-themed, or even Christmas-themed. His clothing choice would have made much more sense if it were, but the Nightmare Before Christmas was a classic that couldn't ignored. Rephaim entered the mess hall in his black-with-white pinstriped suit calmly and and gracefully. His black shiny dress shoes waltzed their way from the entrance to the dance floor to the shadows throughout the night, and only three times did he have to mingle and dance with some people. He was complemented on his costume, and asked multiple times if he had come with the girl dressed as Sally. All he would do was shake his head, his painted white face broadening the smile of which he had drawn with black finger paints. Rephaim didn't come with anyone tonight. Prom was just a dance. Why should Jack Skellington drag some girl he barely knew to come with him to a dance he barely cared about? This all was just a big excuse to show off his cosplay skills and, hell, maybe meet a nice guy or girl or whatever along the way. He'd even missed a burning of shrouds at the funeral pyre for this crap - in hopes he'd find the Sally to his Jack whomever that may be. Nevertheless, Rephaim didn't let his mind ponder over that subject very long. Tonight was about only him and his amazing costume and his preference to stay in the corner of the room away from the pandemonium. Yes, if asked, he would go out to the floor and make a fool of himself for the enjoyment of the person who asked him to go out there. Otherwise, he preferred to nom on the choice horderves over by the snack table.

Dances weren't really Emma's thing. Unfortunately, she was forced to go with her friends (*cough cough* Morgan). Even though Morgan had invited her, she still would've said no. But Morgan and her half-sisters had put such a nice good into making Emma's costume that she had to say yes. But, dam!, she did look good.
So there she was, dressed up as Maleficent, one of the best disney villains of all time. She had ditched the cane, it would slow her down. The only thing she didn't like about the outfit was that the dress was a little too short. The boys didn't seem to mind, they were too busy staring. Emma felt the urge to snack the living daylights out've then but she managed to conceal her wishes by crushing the cup of punch she had, forcing her to get a new one from the snack table.
The music started filling her ears, Emma had automatically knew it was Wiggle by Jason Derulo (she wasn't a fan). Nearby, a cluster of demigods had swarmed by the entrance, quirking interest in Emma. Turns out, some dude had dressed up as Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas, one of her favorite movies. Really, she loved any Tim Burron movie. Anyway...
The Jack Skellington had walked near Emma and she could see why everyone was staring at his costume. It was amazing! Emma had to give him that.
"Nice costume." She murmured, looking at the skeleton, obvious application in her voice.

A carrot balanced between his teeth like a cigarette, the son of Thanatos watched as the people on the dance floor got a little too excited about the song that came next. Rephaim preferred to just watch. Yes, for whatever reason your putting together in your mind and because he didn't want to be caught up in the midst of pandemonium. He turned when a voice had spoken to him, and smiled subtly. The girl was quite pretty and her costume was, well, amazing. She had mentioned that she liked his costume and he felt his face heat up beneath the paint.
"Why, thank you. Your costume was a very...maleficent choice, hm?" Rephaim ate the carrot and held out his hand, "I'm Rephaim. I haven't seen you before, have I? I think I would remember you."
Ooc: This sucks but I have to go. I be back either later or tomorrow.

More people stampeded past Emma trying to get to the dance floor just because of this song. Emma rolled her eyes, a what a group of morons. This is the reason why she doesn't come to dances. Trash a dance, maybe. But not attend a dance dressed up in some dress your only going to wear once.
The boy had turned around to face her and she could see his costume more clearly. The white and black face paint looked pretty cool under the colorful lights, she couldn't help but smirk at the skeleton grin. Now that's a cool Jack Skellington.
"Why, thank you. Your costume was a very...maleficent choice, hm?" The daughter of ale the groaned at this. Corny joke, gah. But even as she rolled her eyes at him, a smile tugged onto her lips. Wait what, why is she smiling? She should be frowning. Oh whatever.
"Thanks." She murmured again.
The bells in her head were ringing as she had tried to connect a name (well, she knew his name. It was Rephaim.) to a face. She felt like she had seen him before but where? Did she spar with him? Was he the guy she pranked who got really mad and started cursing at her? Oh wait, he's in her cabin.
"Your in the same cabin as me. The Minor Underworld cabin, right?" Emma asked, a little unsure.
"Oh, I'm Emma by the way." She added, giving his hand a firm shake.

With the lights flashing and all, Rephaim was forced to squint a bit when speaking with Emma and the heavy black paint around his eyes gave his costume an even more skeletal effect. He wasn't going to lie. Sure, he looked cool. It was just that this costume made him feel like his face weighed five extra pounds. But, hey, without it he probably wouldn't be having this conversation now. His smile only grew when she rolled her eyes at his ridiculous comment, which Rephaim would admit that it was pretty bad. Alas, she smiled and Rephaim felt like he'd accomplished something.
"You're welcome." Was all he said after her small "thanks". He held eye contact with her the entire time. Her eyes were...well, they were breathtaking, now, weren't they? They were a type of pale bluish that you'd only read about or see in movies somewhere. When she had spoke again, Rephaim had awoken dreamily from his thoughts, raising an eyebrow (that was painted black with the rest of his eye area). When she had mentioned that they were in the same cabin, his heart dropped. There was about a 7/10 chance that they were siblings, which would make these - what were they, feelings? Uh, no. Rephaim was very insensitive - whatever's kind of creepy and wrong. It had been a few seconds since she had asked that question and introduced herself as "Emma", shaking his hand with a type of force that surprised Rephaim lightly.
"Really? Same cabin?" Rephaim would have remembered seeing her anywhere, but no clear image came to mind. Then he began thinking about how on a lot of nights he would just camp out by the pyre, waiting for the campers on quests that wouldn't return. Strange, yes. There was really no other way to put it besides creepy. He shook her hand back, matching the strength of hers but being gentle all the same, and placed his hand inside of his pocket.
"I guess so, Emma. I'm not in there much these days. Who's your god parent?" Short, simple, and his eyes were still locked on hers. How could they possibly seem so bright in the dark of this room? He could not answer now, and he felt like he couldn't answer later. Gods, he hoped that they weren't related. That would just ruin everything.

The whole time they were talking, Emma found herself staring into Rephaim's eyes. Granted, he was staring back, but most people thought it was peculiar how her eyes almost appear to be silver in the light. But his were odd as well. They were the normal coffee brown but there was also swirls of a color that looks like a mix between hazel and gold. Emma found it enchanting.
Wait what? She adverted her gaze to her cup full of punch, biting her bottom lip. What is she thinking? She had only just met him! Plus, she wasn't supposed to be enjoying herself at the prom, she was supposed to hate it! But if Morgan hadn't forced her to come, she wouldn't have met the boy she was talking to now. That made her smile a bit.
"I guess so, Emma. I'm not in there much these days. Who's your god parent?" Rephaim's words brought her back to reality. Turning her head up, her silvered eyed gaze met his brown gaze.
"Lethe, though most people forget about her. After all, she is the goddess of forgetfulness and the underworld river of oblivion." She explained, chuckling a little at the end before turning her attention back at Rephaim.
"Lemme guess, Thanatos? There's a lot of his children in the cabin." She guessed. It was true, there was about 7/10 of the cabin filled with Thanatos kids.

Even as she looked away Rephaim couldn't tear his glance away from hers. He couldn't see both of them now, but the side of one was enough to keep the boy captivated. What was this? How often did he find anyone who could hold his attention so? How was it that just by speaking with her for these 2 minutes and 43 seconds she had all ready turned his internal thoughts into a Shakespearean narration? To try to distract himself for his internal interrogation, he reached to the stack of cups and took one. After, he ladled some punch into it and took a small sip. He wasn't quite thirsty, but he needed something other than Emma and her eyes. Then she had spoken. Feeling as thouhg the invisible pressure were off his shoulders, Rephaim stifled a sigh. So they did not share a godly father. Lethe was her mother, and she was the underworld goddess of... Well, Emma was looking back at him. Ironically, his mind went blank when he saw those eyes. A smile danced on his lips when she had guessed his father correctly, and he did nod to confirm.
"Yes, my father has celebrated his freedom a bit too much lately." He said, referring to what he had heard about him being restrained. Rephaim took another sip of his punch with a grin, not breaking eye contact.

Rephaim nodded after she guessed his dad, which cause Emma to smirk. Oh yeah, that just happened.
"Yes, my father has celebrated his freedom a bit too much lately." His words caused her to chuckle, it's very true. And so far she only knew a couple of her half-siblings, a boy just recently claimed, another boy who seems like a physco to Emma, and another boy the same age of her but she barely sees. Yup, half-brothers.
Rephaim kept staring into her eyes, which Emma puzzled at. Were Emma's eyes so odd that he kept staring? She needed to fun something to advert her gaze from him. Turning back to the dance floor, Emma saw the chaos of kids dancing and mingling. Under the colorful lights, they looked more like a giant blob than people dancing. Before she could look away laughing, the song changed to Sally's Song from the Nightmare Before Christmas. Oh the irony.
"Hey, maybe you should go ask Sally to dance. This is her song after all." She smirked, motioning to the girl in the Sally costume (who had too much makeup on) and who was shooting daggers at Emma.

Rephaim glanced away when she did, looking not at the dance floor but instead at the decoration of the dance. So many different themes, notably Tangled and Frozen (of course), in such a commonly used place. How on earth did they have time to build all of this? The fog and all was a nice touch with the lighting. Rephaim was impressed, and took another gulp of the punch while he examined it all. He heard the music change to a song very familiar, the very song that had inspired him to be Jack in the first place. The song was as sweet and as sad as when he had first heard it years ago, and a wave of nostalgia washed over him. The words were as entrancing as the always have been, and Rephaim's eyes closed just so he could listen. They opened the instant Emma had mentioned Sally and dancing, and Rephaim followed her gaze and made a face. So that was the Sally everyone had been referring to. As adorable as that would be, Rephaim rolled his eyes and glanced at Emma.
"No. I have enough people thinking that I came with her as it is." He chuckled and set his beverage down, adjusting the spider bowtie around his neck to loosen it by a smidge. "If I wanted to dance, I would've asked you to without hesitation." He picked up another carrot from the snack table, chewed and swallowed while looking at the dance floor, then turned back to Emma.

Zoning out, Emma was too busy staring at the ice sculptures that the Khione cabin has made, snow circling the ice. She was trying to figure out how the hell it's still frozen in this room or hep no one had knocked it over when Rephaim's voice rang in her ears.
"Want to dance?"
"Sure." She murmured inutentualloy, taking a sip from her cup before placing it on the table. Wait what? It was then she realized what she had just said. Should she dance with him? They had only just met like, 5 minutes ago. But the Australian knew the answer, because even if she didn't like it, there was something bubbling up inside her whenever he stared into her eyes.
"Yeah, that sounds like fun." She repeated, awkwardly grabbing his hand while pulling him towards the blob of people dancing. Let's see how this turns out.

Rephaim watched her reaction and and his eyebrows quirked. He didn't smile - he forced it back. With her murmured sure, he waited until his request finally clicked. Sure they barely knew each other. But wasn't that the plot of many fairy tales? Just take Cinderella for example. Did her hair, made a dress, and bippity boppity boo. She was dancing with the Prince as soon as they made eye contact. Soon, though, Emma had reiterated her answer and tugged him towards the dance floor. Rephaim's hands found her waist without much over-thinking and he swayed with her to the sad song in a very steady and precise way. Was it bad that he knew a lot of the lyrics? Nevertheless, his eyes once again met with Emma's as they danced.

The lights above hovered over Emma and Rephaim, causing Emma to squint to see his outline before the lights passed. Hands were placed on her waist and Emma recognized them as Rephaim's. The music continued to play, the melody soft and sad. Emma's gaze traveled up, only to be met with Rephaim's. The pair started to sway to the music, their steps synchronized with the beat. Emma had allowed her hands to shake up Rephaim's chest and meet around his neck, fully aware of how close they were, since there was barely any space between their chests.
"You havin fun there?" She joked, raising an eyebrow towards the boy, referring to his hands holding her waist.
Wow, it was so weird how they had only met a while ago and now they were dancing. It was like most Disney films, like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. They just meet their prince and then they're waltzing. It was so cliché. But Emma had to admit that she enjoyed dancing with Rephaim.

Once again, Rephaim's skeletal paint curled its way into a smile at Emma's comment. Though they'd barely spoke, Rephaim enjoyed this closeness with a stranger. It seemed as though they were rewriting one of those old ones and replacing it with something ominous yet romantic. Yes, Jack Skellington dancing with Maleficent was very romantic for the others (except one of the Sally's). There was just something with the mist the rolled and snaked its way around the dance floor that made this dance feel magical.
"You pulled me closer, so now you're suffering the consequences." He chuckled quietly. To her humming, Rephaim had quietly began to sing the lyrics that swirled within his head, piecing them together to create Sally's Song. He had a pleasant tenor singing voice, and the fact that he did so quietly relaxed him even more. It now seemed as if the two of them were dancing alone in his perspective.

The face paint that Rephaim was really cool. The fact that he managed to make his eye look like Jack's in the movie was pretty nifty. But Emma found it even cooler when she saw the smile he had made to her comment. Even if she didn't notice, she had a half-smile gracing her face.
"You pulled me closer, so now you're suffering the consequences." To this she tighten her arms around his neck, bringing the two even closer together. He was asking for it. Now their chests were touching and Emma was playing with Rephaim's spider bow tie.
"What are you going to do about it?" Emma questioned with a rebel tone in her voice and an eyebrow raised with a teasing smile.
Even though it was faint, Emma's ears managed to pick up Rephaim singing. Woah wait, he can sing? Apparently, for Emma thought his singing was pretty good, and that's a rave coming from her. His voice seemed to flow through one ear and out the other, her smile unnaturally growing. He was pretty good.
"So I don't feel like dancing with a total stranger, tell me a little 'bout yourself." The girl stated.

Emma had brought them even closer and Rephaim's eyebrows raised. He kind of expected it, what with his snide comment and all. He didn't mind it, either. This was Emma. The closer he was to her the better. The she had said something that had also taken him by surprise. "What are you going to do about it?" she had said with a daring voice. His singing faded slowly, then all at once. What was he going to do about it? Accept it.
"Emma, you're something different, aren't you?" He mused in the same quiet tone of which he had sung the song. His hand reached up and around the arm around his neck to twist one of the purple ribbons that wove through her gloves around his finger, carefully so he did not ruin the glove itself. His smile never faltered once. Rephaim discovered that she soon wanted to know more about him, so he began to think of the important bits and pieces of information he should share with her. Hm. He wasn't all the interesting, now, was he?
"Well...I'm Canadian. I like Creepy Pastas. I can sing." Rephaim smirked at that fact before continuing. "My favorite color is either crimson or maroon (red is just a captivating color). And my birthday is on the 23rd of April. What about you, Emma? I would never give my information out to a 'total stranger'."
ooc: There was a typo and I fixed but...23th. Twenty-thirth.

The shocked expression on Rephaim's was pretty funny, Emma wasn't going to lie. But she had managed not to laugh, though she had let a few laughs escape her mouth. She had shut her mouth though with a shocked expression when Rephaim said:
"Emma, you're something different, aren't you?" His voice was soft, like how he was singing before. Wow, not many people say that about her. Well, she doesn't talk to many people though. But still, she didn't let that go to her head as her shocked expression turned into a smirk.
"Depends on who I'm talking to." She whispered into his ear before returning her head to its original position. One of Rrphaim's hands left her waist and started to twist and twirl one of her glove ribbons around his finger. Her hand that was playing with his bow tie left it alone and re-wrapped it around his neck.
"Well...I'm Canadian. I like Creepy Pastas. I can sing." He started to explain.
"I can see that." Emma smirked before letting him continue.
"My favorite color is either crimson or maroon (red is just a captivating color). And my birthday is on the 23rd of April. What about you, Emma? I would never give my information out to a 'total stranger'." Emma smirked at the end. It seems like they have some things in common.
"Well, my birthday is August 10th. Uh, I'm into street art, like graffiti and murals. I love red, crimson the most, it's a cool color. I'm Australian and Italian, but I currently live in Boston. Oh, and I like Creepy Pasta as well. So now were not strangers anymore." She ended the last part with a half smile and a shrug.
Sally's song had ended, even though Emma didn't want it to, and probably one of Emma's favorite movie songs came on, Tears to Shed from the Corpse Bride. As the sad and slow music played, Emma found herself swaying even more with a smile on her face.
OOC:lol

Rephaim was pleased by her own shocked expression when he had complimented her. Did she not hear that often enough? In due time (depending they would ever meet again after this prom) Rephaim would make sure she heard it often enough. This was just one dance, one night. Chances were, despite having the same cabin, they weren't going to see each other again. Rephaim would be sure they did. Emma had whispered that his note was only applicable to certain people, and he did in fact feel honored. She had stopped playing with his bowtie, so his arms instead just his hands wrapped around her waist. He watched her as he spoke, her smirking, her inputs. He was vaguely aware of the very small (but still there) crowd beginning to gather around them in a circle. Emma had began to explain some things about herself upon his request, and Rephaim began to add his own commentary.
"Graffiti and murals? I'm not very surprised." He said wryly, referring to the rebellious tone she had used earlier. He listened to her as she went on and enjoyed the fact that they had things in common, like Creepy Pasta and the color crimson. She was correct. They were no longer strangers.
"No...I suppose we're not."
At the end of the song, Rephaim had to admit that he was a bit disappointed. He wanted to dance further with Emma, but he understood that his time had run out. Just then the tune changed to a song he was familiar with, also sad and slow. He recognized the movie - The Corpse Bride by, of course, Tim Burton - but the song left a blank. Regardless, and arm slipped from Emma's waist and his hand retrieved one of hers from his neck. He held her hand gingerly but firmly swaying with her in a more ballroom-type style. With a very careful and slow movement, his foot began to lead them into a style more elegant and flowing.

Emma had to bite her lip to force a blush down as Rephaim's other hand secured it's spot on her waist. Why the hell would she be blushing? Just because they weren't strangers any more doesn't make it okay for her to start blushing for no apparent reason. Stupid!
Pushing her thoughts aside, Emma's grip on Rephaim's hand tightened as one of his hands held hers, slipping it so they were dancing ballroom style. She chuckled, how quaint.
"What's with the change of dancing?" She questioned, notching an eyebrow. Sure, it was a nice gesture and, damn!, he was a good dancer. Emma almost found herself steeping on his feet, which would be bad since she's wearing heels. Plus, it kinda matched the song, the slow and steady matching with their steps.
Out've the corner of her eye, Emma found out that some people were watching the pair dance. Oh, just great. This was just what she wanted (note the sarcasm).
Finding herself becoming uncomfortable, she buried her head in Rephaim's chest, wishing she could just shadow travel out've here.

"The song changed, so I thought our way of dancing should, too."
Rephaim glanced away from Emma's eyes just a moment to look at the few people watching them. His eyes narrowed ominously at them, making eye contact with them exponentially less friendly than he had with Emma. Most of them turned away, so Rephaim turned his attention back to his dance partner. He concentrated on their steps as they glided somewhat gracefully like in the movies. Though, this was not a movie and Rephaim felt some anxiety growing within his being at every turn. It all faded when Emma buried her face in his chest, his laughter overtaking it all. He slowed their dancing so that they were back to swaying as the song began to end, taking his hand from Emma's to coax her into lifting her head.
"The song is over. You can look now." He teased lightly. Though Rephaim's voice was calm his blush was beginning to peak through some of the paint. He couldn't stop smiling for whatever reason. He did, though, like the feeling that came with it.

"The song is over. You can look now." When Emma looked up, most of the lookers had turned around. Oh thank the gods. Her gaze met Rephaim's, they were back to swaying, her arm around his neck again. The song had ended, a fast song on now but the pair didn't stop also dancing. Emma couldn't help but be entranced in his eyes.
Then the world came crashing onto her, snapping her into reality.
"Uh, thanks for the dance." Emma murmured, scratching the back of her neck uncomfortably. She somehow managed to squeeze out've his grasp, shuffling across the dance floor, trying to get through the dancing demigods, and reached the snack table. She couldn't believe she had almost been caught staring into someone's eyes. Heck, she couldn't believe that she was staring into someone's eyes. The Australian sipped her drink, obviously flustered.

Rephaim had her gaze again. He was about to do something stupid in the heat of the moment, like, kiss the girl and be cliche. Unfortunately, Emma had scampered off back to the snack table. Rephaim was left alone on the dance floor with an expression of sadness combined with surprise. She told him thanks, but that probably meant that he was a bad dancer, right? That was probably it. or his breath stunk - no, he was Rephaim. His breath always smelt magnificent. What was it then? The boy heaved a sighed and walked in the opposite direction towards where the tables and such were spread out. He sat down in a chair and looked at the others. Hm. Maybe she was just a girl. However, Rephaim just couldn't shake her from his mind. That was a strange, awful feeling.

Her fingers drummed against her plastic cup as she held it in her hand, her eyes following Rephaim as he went to sit down. Stalker much but she couldn't help it. When he sat down, Emma was still looking at him.
Wait, she shouldn't be doing this. Her eyes wandered off, anywhere but where Rephaim is. Gah, why is she feeling like this. They only just met! What is this feeling that shes feeling? She felt it the moment she laid eyes on him. Its a strange feeling.
Her eyes found their way back to Rephaim. Maybe she should...Nah.

Rephaim kind of wished he could just sit there and feel bad for whatever he was feeling for the still kind of stranger. He glanced up as a girl dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast walked over to him and began making conversation with him, mostly about how cool his costume was, and how he was sooo creative, and something about her dress malfunctioning at the last minute. When she started talking about her cat, Rephaim knew that she was rambling about whatever came to her mind. He tried to seem like he was intrigued in what she had to say, but she just couldn't hold his attention like Emma could. Emma. Rephaim laughed and nodded in agreement to the girl, an excuse to look over at her. She was already staring. In spite of himself, he flashed a white smile at her and - no he didn't - winked before looking back to Fiona. Surprisingly, the girl hadn't noticed his lack of attention because she was still speaking about nothing. Even though his friendly look was one that said "See what you did?" Rephaim still tried his best to understand all of the different subjects the girl was talking about. Wow. And Rephaim thought that he could keep someone from going anywhere with his words.

Oh god what? Some girl dressed up as Belle had walked up and sat down next to Rephaim. Normally, Emma would've been like "Eh, who cares?" but now she felt like tossing that girl across the room. Gah, why is she thinking this?
But Rephaim looked sorta interested, a sinking feeling going through Emma's stomach. Gah, she shouldn't be feeling this? But when she was about to look away, Rephaim looked over the girls shoulder, staring right at Emma. She mentally cursed to herself since she was caught staring while Rephaim shot her a white smile with a wink. The girl turned her head as he looked back at the girl.
Finally, the dj started to play some upbeat songs and the first one was one of Emma's favorites, Can't Hold Us by Pentantionix (the acapella version). The Australian started to sway her hips while looking back at Rephaim and the girl. She shouldn't be dancing alone at this! Taking one last sip of her drink, she sauntered over to te tables.
"Hey, wanna dance again?" She asked/demanded, placing a hand on the table in between the two. Sure, the girl was probably shooting daggers at Emma but who cares! Her eyes held a hopeful gleam as she stared at Rephaim, waiting for an answer.

The song had changed. The girl looked as if she was about to ask if Rephaim could dance with her. Before she could even open her mouth - Poof. Emma was there, her hand in between Belle and Rephaim. Emma had beaten Belle to the punch, and Rephaim was kind of startled. Emma's request to dance was more of a demand. He raised and eyebrow and looked between the two of them, inching his way towards Emma and the dance floor.
"Sorry...I have to take this dance. It was fun talking to you by the way." Rephaim smiled politely at the girl and took Emma's hand to the dance floor. His eyes narrowed at both Emma's stare and the song that was playing. It sounded like an a Capella cover by Pentatonix, which he liked, of Can't Hold Us by Macklemore, which he loved. Acceptable. He looked back to Emma with a daring smirk on his face.
"So what made you want to dance with me?" He asked playfully, head nodding to the beat of the song.
