miles was really jittery and excited. he had been a nervous wreck for the two weeks, trying to get to organize all the stuff. miles was standing in the woods all dressed up -- he was wearing a designer suit and tie, a blue checkered vest underneath, and a white shirt underneath that. if miles did dates, he did them hard. he had gotten permission from chiron to -- wait for it -- build a treehouse for maddy and him. his pair of keys were dangling at his belt, and he was going to give the other pair to maddy later on. behind him the gloriousness was: a 8-square metre large treehouse. the hephaestus kids had helped him build it. a rope ladder was dangling next to miles, and he grinned. it was fitted out with two hammocks, one green and blue, one purple and red (hehe), one table, where a bottle of champagne stood in a cooler, aswell as two glasses ready for use. there was also a few bookshelves stocked with some old poetry books and whatever, but that was only for decoration. he had gotten some strawberrys and griled cheese sandwiches from the aphrodites and demeters. mainly they had only given them to him because, you know, it was for a date, and they all found it totally cute or whatever. there was also a small balcony, which gave you a lookout over basically all of camp. and then, in the same places, was 'maddy was here' and 'miles was here'. he grinned. if that didn't impress maddy, what the heck did? the aphrodites also insisted he gelled his hair up, something that they thought looked hot. he decided to go with thier adivce and gel it up a bit, taming his messy black bangs. buuuuut, in the end, the wind had sorta flattened it all again. miles had also bought a small golden bracelet with a star and a wine glass on it, just because he was stylish and it would add an extra touch of gentelman-ess for maddy if he put it around her wrist all romantic-like. she had to like it. she had to.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Wait... what....
That was all Maddy could think for the first ten seconds. She had stopped dead in her tracks when she had seen Miles dressed up all fancy in designer suit and tie, but when she had caught sight of the tree house, she had just opened her mouth like, What the Hades?
"I leave you here for two weeks and you go ahead and build a tree house? What's wrong with you, man?"
Nonetheless, she chuckled and gave him a hug. It was extremely weird, seeing they had had only two meetings in the last month, that he would do something like that, but perhaps it was a new thing here where everyone brought their date or something. Maddy was generally here only in summer. She didn't know what else happened here during fall, winter, spring and such.
She herself hadn't exactly dressed up -- she hadn't expected it to be that kind of a date. Still, she was wearing a purple dress cut over the knee and gathered at the waist with a slim cappuccino-colored belt, dotted black tights, flat-heeled leather boots and woolen leg warmers. For once, her brown hair curled freely around her shoulders, only restrained by a vanilla-colored beanie on her head and a wool scarf of the same color around her neck.
As always, she had make-up on: purple nail-polish, silky taupe eyeshadow, mascara and gloss. A hint of musky Yves-Saint-Laurent perfume could be sensed on her neck and wrists and she gave Miles the you're so unbearable smirk. A tree house. What came next, an igloo pentagon?

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles smiled, and gave her a nod. "you look gorgeous." he said and laughed, ruffling her hair and gave her a wink. he took her hand, fiddled with the bracelet, and slipped it around her wrist. "for you." miles added, smirking. he grinned as he dangled the keys in front of her. "that would be your pair of keys," he said and then patted his belt. "and these ones are mine. got it, girl?" he said and laughed as he began to climb the rope ladder. once he was up, he unlocked the small treehouse door, and grinned as he entered the room. it was really nice and cozy, with a few candles lit, aswell as a bedside lamp stood on the small wooden table with the champagne on it. he pulled out the champagne, twisted the cork opener into it, and pop, the bottle was open and steaming. miles filled the glasses, and grinned at maddy. "so, you said i would get a kiss if i brought champagne. c'mon'en!" he said and laughed, pointing to his cheek mischchievously. he popped a strawberry into his mouth, grinning. "hurry up, i've waited two weeks for this darned kiss, girl!" he said, his mouth full of strawberry. he blushed, embaressed. he coughed, swallowed and starightened up.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"And you look hideous," Maddy teased him, bringing her glossy curls over her shoulder. Then he took her wrist gently and attached a bracelet around it; it was golden with two charms, a star and a wine glass, and it looked really good with the golden rings Maddy was currently wearing on her fingers. "Very nice," she commented. "Thank you sir." A tree house, a bracelet... the guy wasn't joking.
Maddy had already reflected during her short breaks on set if he did all this simply because she was an actress. Okay, she wasn't that famous -- yet -- but she was nonetheless in a couple of movies that had gotten attention. Not as much as, say, Avengers or Hunger Games of course, but still. She had a short Wikipedia page, she had been on TV once or twice for talk shows with the casts, she had even done a commercial. Once a guy from here had tried to go out with her because he was expecting her to get more famous, and it had left the sourest taste in her mouth. Especially since she had had a crush on the boy. That, and she knew that others would do the same: Cleo, from the Aphrodites, had dated Jackson Delta simply because he was a singer, she wanted to become more famous through him, get attention and climb the celebrity ladder higher. She was already a model with a father in the fashion business, but she obviously wanted more.
Maddy gave him an inquisitive look but nonetheless put her keys in her handbag before watching him climb up to the tree house. After a quick glance at the surroundings, she climbed up herself and set foot on the wooden floor of the balcony before stepping into the house.
It was warm and welcoming, with a soft carpet, hammocks, bookshelves, candles and a little table. Miles was opening a champagne bottle and filled two flutes. Maddy took hers.
"I'm still wondering what this is supposed to mean," she said. "You barely know me and you do all... this?"
She gestured around the house. Don't get her wrong, she really liked it. And she expected this stuff to happen; she always expected everything to flow her way. But this was slightly overkill to her.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles rolled his eyes. "yeah, duh. i've always wanted to make a treehouse here, so then you came along and I was like, heck yes, i'mma risk it and make one." he simply shrugged and collapsed down into he hammock. he was getting far too hot in the suit, so he slipped off the vest and overjacket, leaving him in his white button down and tie. he yawned once, then took a sip from the champagne. "also; you said you were on set for the past two weeks. you an actress or somethin'? i've never seen you on telly before." he said raising his eyebrows at her. he layed down in the hammock, swinging about happily, singing and humming his favorite childhood songs. mainly spongebob theme songs and whatever. don't judge. he brushed his hair out of his pale face and gritted his teeth. maybe he had gone too far. but if she didn't like it, that was cool with him; he'd just come here on his own occasionally. he grinned. forever alone. he laughed silently. no, she had to like it. "now, do i get a kiss for that champagne or what?" he said and winked.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"Fair enough," Maddy said and made her champagne flute tinkle against his. "And yes, I'm an actress. Got my first role in a short film when I was eleven and since then I've played in some movies. Beyond Saturn, The House of Elizabeth Bathory, The Cliff Jumper, if those ring a bell."
She found herself humming along to the Spongebob theme then chuckled, giving him an accomplice smirk. That was the moment he asked for the kiss.
"Just a second, I first gotta see if the champagne is worth it." Maddy breathed in the aroma, swirled once and inhaled again before taking the first sip, looking at the ceiling to focus on the taste of the wine. "Ripe yellow fruits, some smokey notes, an exotic aftertaste....heady but elegant. Château de Bligny, Grande Réserve Brut." She grinned at him, which dug dimples into her cheeks. "Very nice choice again, mister."
She covered the distance between them in two steps and gave him a light smooch on the cheek. His jaw was shaved and smooth, she breathed in the scent of his fresh aftershave.
"Is that okay for you, sir?" Maddy asked, straightening up.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles grinned. "absoloutely, my'lady." he sipped from his champagne until the flute was empty, and he set it on the table. miles then softly took hold of maddys arm and pulled her out on the balcony. there were two little beach chairs set up, and he plummeted into one. the wind rushed through his hair, and miles smiled at the view. it was amazing, the sun was already setting slightly, and you could even see a small corner of the beach, the sun reflecting off of the water. you could hear the ares cabin fighting even from here, and miles sighed. "is this cool, or what?" he asked, a mischievious smile dancing on his pale lips. miles stood up from his chair, and stood next to maddy for a while, taking in her sight. she was quite beautiful, in a way that the aphrodite girls couldn't keep up with. and then, out of nowhere, his lips quickly pressed against her cheek in a manner that was so sneaky that she couldn't have possibly seen coming. he chuckled. "and that," he said, "was for putting up with me two weeks ago. and now of course." he said and laughed. "but i'm gettin' rather cold, i'm goin'back in."

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"Gotta admit, this is pretty cool," Maddy said, sitting down on the other beach chair.
The trees rustled at their feet, the beach glistened at their left and she could see the vague form of pegasi rising in the sky. Somewhere to their right, satyrs were playing their pipes, though the music came to her ears scattered by the wind.
Then Miles leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
Well then.
"Yeah, I'm going back in too," she said. "It's pretty chilly up here."
Maddy closed the door behind her and sat down in the purple hammock, toying with one of her rings. She took her vanilla beanie and scarf off and dropped them next to her, rearranging her leg warmers up her calves. It really was cold out there, she regretted not having brought any gloves.
But in here, it was warm and cozy. The candles brought a very nice light to the whole inner of the tree house and she laid back in her hammock, gazing up at the ceiling. She had finished her flute of champagne ages ago, but with a snap of her fingers, she ordered a similar amount of the golden, bubbly drink to go from the bottle into her glass.
"So Marcus -- I mean, Miles. Right? Yeah. Are you here all year long?"
Like her father, Maddy sometimes had difficulties remembering people's names -- or she just did it on purpose to annoy others. Guess that was one more thing she had in common with Mr D.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles had sort of dozed off thinking about stuff, like what colour socks he should wear tomorrow. he snapped out of it when maddy asked him something. "what? oh, yeah, yeah. i am. you?" he asked and added a smile to his lips, his eyes fluttering shut shortly after, awaiting an answer. "i mean, there's nothing for me to go home to, other than me mum. she's probably hitting it off with some other dude, nothing that i want to expierience, really." a wave of sadness washed over him. he hadn't seen his mum for atleast 5 years. he missed her, but it was just too dangerous out there, he had realized, and he had lots of friends here. he shrugged the sadness away, and began humming the spongebob theme song again. he looked over at maddy, and everytime her eyes flicked over to him, or near him, he would have pretended he totally wasn't staring. his feet dangled off of the hammock, and occasionally you could hear miles exhale heavily, relaxing. he dozed off, snapping awake again. he blushed. stupid miles. falling asleep on dates. "whaddya wanna do?" he mumbled sleepily.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"Ah, I know that feeling."
Maddy's mom herself traveled a lot; she was working for a wine magazine and always had to go to the different estates to taste the latest cuvées and then write a report. She had a very wide and colorful wine tasting vocabulary that always brought a bouquet of senses to the mind, and wine makers were proud when a person like her made a good critique about one of their wines.
And when she wasn't on a trip, she did exactly what Miles's mother apparently did -- hit it off with some guy.
But that was okay with Maddy -- most of the time she wasn't at home so that meant room for parties.
"I'm a summer rounder," she said. "School, going on sets and castings, it eats up quite some time. I can't afford to be here 24/7 when my career awaits," she added with a broad, playfully pompous gesture. When he asked what she wanted to do, she gave him one of those Maddy-grins that could mean anything from I'm gonna set fire to your sheets to Let's play Monopoly.
"How about a good ole drinking game?" she suggested. "Except if you wanna do some kind of these kids's miming games, I'm cool with that too."

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles simply shook his head in disagreement. "no." he mumbled. "no, no." he sat up straight, eyes glinting, maybe from the champagne, maybe from maddy, maybe from the two cups of coffee he had drunken this morning; but either way, there was something in his eyes. he blinked slowly, then stood up, pacing the room, mumbling as words flew out of his mouth in a hushed tone. he strightened up all of a sudden, turned on one heel and walked over to maddy. "dance?" he murmered as he hurried over to an old radio he had found, plugged it in, and slid in a CD of classical music. he couldn't decide what style the music was -- it wasn't particularily romantic, but it wasn't something that friends would listen to when they hung out. his cheeks flushed, and he flung on his blue vest and suit jacket in a hurry. he held out his hand. "dance. then alchohol." he was talking in short syllables; like he always did when he was a: embaressed or b: excited. which, in this case, he was both.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Miles seemed very uneasy all of a sudden, mumbling and sliding a CD into an old player.
"Dancing? Sure!"
She went clubbing all the time, so she really knew how to dance.
Then... Wait a sec -- is this classical music?
"Um, how do you waltz again? 1, 2, 3, something like that?" She vaguely remembered the waltzing lesson of professor McGonagall in Harry Potter 4 but didn't know if that'd help her right now. "I can try but I already apologize for the next fifty times I'm gonna step on your feet," she chuckled taking his hand.

miles smiled, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "you're gonna do fine." he smiled again, placed one hand on her waist, the other on her shoulder, and coughed, covering his mouth with right hand. "um," he said and laughed. "actually, i'm not the bestest of dancers, yeah, sorry." he said, and began, taking the lead. one step to the right... oops, hit her foot, the other forward.... ooops, hit her foot again... aaaaand once more. he blushed, his eyes flickering over her face. she was pretty. really, really pretty. it was so unfair. "you're pretty." miles blurted out, and his eyes widened. he broke away from the dance, stuttering an apolgy. "i mean - i didn't mean - sorry - i - excuse me - i'm sorry - i-" he gaped at her, the blush unmistakable now.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Miles's hand was a bit colder than hers but it was okay. Maddy put her other hand on his shoulder, feeling the fabric of his shirt under her palm and fingertips while he placed his own hand in the light curve of her waist. The first steps were awkward, they were rhythmically behind the music and stepped on each other's feet. It made Maddy chuckle like crazy but Miles was obviously embarrassed. Embarrassed enough to suddenly say he found her pretty. Then he broke away, stammering with a furious blush on his cheekbones which was really adorable. She didn't know why he was so troubled, after all this was kind of a date so somewhere he must've expected Maddy to know what he thought of her. Still, it was kinda cute.
She knew that if she didn't do something now, then they were good for the awkward party of the decade and that was definitely not the type of thing she wanted. Besides, in Finnick's words, if you see something sweet, you better grab it.
Miles's lips tasted of iode and champagne, they were somewhat smooth but salty and left an aftertaste of alcohol on her mouth after she gently pulled away, biting on his lower lip playfully. It had been brief but clear -- after all, they had only really met twice so she wouldn't exactly throw herself at him on the second date, but a nice smooch on the mouth like that was perfectly fine in her opinion.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles just kinda stared at her for while. she was a pretty good kisser -- no, he was kidding himself. he swallowed. she was more than good, she was just kinda... amazing. his hand slipped behind her neck, his fingers playing with her hair. was he supposed to kiss her? miles was kinda cluless with maddy; most girls were shallow and it was easy to know what they wanted. with maddy... not so much. he just kind of stared at her for some more, before pulling her into a tight hug. he was easily taller than her, so he had to kind of lean down into her shoulder. he breathed in her scent; it smelled of alcohol and a tiny bit of shampoo and perfume. it was nice. he pulled out of the hug and gave her a long kiss -- nothing special, just something to let her know he appreciated her existence. heh. that sounded weird. "gods, you're a good kisser." he finally managed to say, his irish accent overpowering. "we should kiss more often." he said and laughed; he was back to his old self again. he still felt kinda fluttery, but that was okay - it was nice to have some butterflys in his stomach once in a while.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Well that was better than expected. Maddy was surprised by the hug -- no boy she had made out with had hugged her right after the first kiss, normally they just .... kissed more. She realized she really liked it though, it was warm and cuddly and made her feel really good. Then he kissed her again and Maddy closed her eyes, inhaling through her nose as she put her hands on the sides of Miles's face, drawing him gently closer. He was taller than her so she had to get on her toes, the tip of her nose kind of bumping into his cheek, but he held her upright as she let her lips glide against his, teasing his tongue with the tip of her own.
When they broke away, she grinned at him while he laughed, saying they should kiss more often.
"Well, that can be arranged," she smirked, getting back flat on her feet. She let her hands slide down from his face to his arms, then to his wrists, sensing a feeling of warmth in her chest and throat, like when she had had a good shot of alcohol.

miles smiled at her, and right now, it was brighter than the sun. he kissed her forehead, smiling into the kiss. he pulled her into a hug, and then broke away and turned off the ridiculous music. he poured himself and maddy some more champagne and lifted his hand in a toast. "to you." he said and grinned, wrapping one arm around her. he kissed her cheek and drank the champagne in a quick series of gulps. he wanted to kiss her again, but that'd be too much and he would be a creep. he let his long fingers brush her hair softly, staring absent mindedly out the window into the forest. it was fairly dark by now, really. the stars were sparkling outside, they were almost as bright as miles' eyes. he glanced at maddy a couple of times, but he flicked his eyes away as soon as they landed on her lips.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Maddy grinned and drank her cup of champagne, loving how the little bubbles tickled her warm throat. She passed one arm around Miles's waist, tilted her head back to let the very last droplets run into her mouth and put the glass back on the table before making for her hammock.
"So. Drinking game. See, you're cute with your champagne and everything, but let's get down to business," she said and pulled a bottle of tequila from her handbag.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles gaped as she pulled a bottle of 'teq' from her handbag. he clenched his teeth. sure, he was an alcoholic, but he mostly just drank beer. he'd have to do it for maddy, though. "um," he muttered. "sure, why not? how'dyou play, eh?" he said, confidence building in his voice as he spoke in soft, stutterish words, irish accent undeniable.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"Oh, there are a lot of drinking games. Normally there are more than two people playing but I know one that'd work just fine."
She poured tequila into their champagne glasses then took a pack of playing cards from her handbag and spread them out on the table.
"Okay so basically each one of us gets five cards," she explained, mixing the cards. "One of us picks a random card from the deck and flips it up. Then we both gotta lay down one of our cards that's equal or higher to the drawn one as fast as possible. If you don't have such a card, then you can pick one card from the deck. If it still isn't high enough, you gotta drink. The last one of us to lay down a card must drink twice. Smallest card is 2, strongest card is Ace. If the uncovered card is an Ace, everyone must drink." She gave him five cards, then did the same for herself and spread the rest of the cards across the table. "Let's have a mock round." She checked her cards: 10 of spades, Queen of hearts, four of hearts, 6 of clubs and 2 of diamonds. She drew a card and flipped it up. "King. Well, I have no card equal or higher than that so I gotta take another one." She drew the next best card which turned out to be another six. "Aaaaand I have to drink," she chuckled, and emptied her shot of tequila in a quick swallow. It burned her throat in such a delicious way she had pins and needles in her neck.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles just sort of stared at her for a while. "can we just kiss instead? because this drinking game is way to complicated for me." he said and gave her a grin. he shrugged and pulled a card. it turned out to be a four of spades. he seriously had no idea what to do, so he just shrugged once more and took a shot of tequila. it burned down his throat, prickling at his tongue and esophagus, but he just clenched his teeth, shook his head, and gave her a half-hearted wink. he leaned over and slipped her hand behind her neck, his fingers playing with her soft hair. his mouth slipped onto hers, tongue brushing her lower lip. his teeth grazed her inner lip and he smiled into the kiss. she smelled really good; like parties and alcohol and perfume. he broke away, smiling like crazy. "uhm," he said and smiled crookedly. "would it be weird to say that," he hesitated, "that i, uhm..." he sighed, gave her a awkward grin, and continued. "i think i really like you." he said and laughed.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
Maddy grinned. "You're right. Let's just stick with drinking." Passing her arm across the table, she tossed all the cards to the floor and itched her chair closer to his. Miles's lips still tasted of salt but now there was the aroma of tequila which made the whole kiss headier. She teased his tongue with the tip of her own, barely grazing it, and closed her eyes, breathing in softly through her nose. Her hands passed from his arms to his neck, her thumbs on his cheekbones.
"I don't know if I really like you or not," Maddy shrugged after he said he really liked her. "I'm just trying it out."
Another grin on her face, she pressed her mouth to his lips again, feeling his breath on her cheek.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
even though he felt a little dissapointed, miles smiled again. he closed his eyes and pressed his lips a little more forcefully to maddy's. sure, she might not like him yet. miles' hand curled into her brown hair, and he didn't want to move ever again. never. he felt like he might just die of happiness right there, because no one would ever like her as much as miles did right now. he breathed in sharply, right arm around her neck, hand playing with her hair, and the other placed firmly on her back, drawing light circles around her spine. "it'll take even more to make you like me, then, i s'pose? i've gott'tah build some'ore of those treehouses, then, won't i?" he said, laughing. "i'm all out, though! all i've got right now are my kisses. want some more?" he asked and gave her a little pout that most girls found cute. probably.

Re: trees are for climbing on.
"Ah, if treehouses were the currency of love," Maddy said as she pulled away and sat on the table, "we'd better migrate to Loompaland."
She gave him another smirk and flattened the skirt of her purple dress, pulling her vanilla-colored leg warmers back up her knees. Maddy reached behind her to get her glass and took another sip of tequila, loving the way it burned through her throat. Nothing tasted better in that precise moment. She passed her other hand through Miles's hair for a second, messing it up slightly while he did his pouting face.
"You remind me of that one kid in second grade when you do that. Every time somebody said no to her she'd pull off a face like that."

Re: trees are for climbing on.
miles grinned crookedly at her. "loompaland doesn't sound all too bad, to be fair." he said, leaning back on his chair. too the bottle to tequila from maddys fingers, took a sip, and let the arm holding it dangle back over the chair. miles straightened his tie and smirked at her as she ran her fingers through his messy black hair. he stuck his tongue out and passed her the bottle of tequila. he stood up, brushing his hands on his trousers. he slumped back into his blue and green hammock, one leg dangling out of it. his eyes slipped closed, tiredness washing over him like a wave of warm water. he mumbled something unintellegible and rubbed his sleepy eyes. "i think i'm going to fall asleep, to be honest with you." he said and gave a groan, and then a soft grin.
