BIC: It had been some time since Chiara had last been sent on a combat mission. After a meeting with Chiron, Mr D and the cabin counselors, Clarisse had come back with information on various monster lairs and spots that needed to be taken care of. Chiara had volunteered for taking out a group of monsters and demigods who were still loyal to the Titans. Partly because she knew it was her duty, and partly because they were hiding in an abandoned military compound. Now that was definitely Chiara's playground.
Another guy had volunteered, Hayden, from the Apollo's. Hayden and Chiara didn't actually hang out, but they knew each other from playing basket ball along with some other guys in their free time. She didn't know much about him apart that he was kinda nice, wanted to be a vet and had a wicked aim.
Ares and Apollo children generally worked well on the battlefield, as they combined melee and organized fighting, plus having a healer on your side generally helped. But somewhere, only two of them wasn't enough. According to the scouts, they were about twenty monsters, with six or seven demigods. They'd need reinforcements if they wanted to make it.
Which was why Chiara had barged into Nathan after dinner and made it clear to him he couldn't sit around on his lazy bum all the time, DC had been cute, but now was time to start playing for real. "We're leaving on Tuesday at 5 pm. It's time for your @ss to do something useful."
So here she was now, sitting on her pegasus. She was in full battle gear: urban camouflage outfit, matte black Myrmidon armor and combat boots. Throwing knives at her belt, boot knife in her right shoe, bow and quiver folded into her carbon fiber container in her backpack (freshly loaded with cabin-9-made arrows), sword at her side and two tactical knives in her sleeves which she had borrowed from the weaponry. Her military backpack was slung over her shoulder, her red curls tucked away under her black helmet. Their opponents outnumbered them by far, taking them by surprise was their only chance. In her backpack, Chiara had two Greek fire grenades, a thermos full of nectar, a lunchbox of ambrosia, a fire kit, some food and water, her old flashlight, drachmas and a couple of first aid stuff (though the majority of first aid things were carried by Hayden).
The plan was to sneak in, toss the grenades, then sneak back out and kill them off while they fled out of the building in panic. All three of them were skilled archers, which was a plus. Chiara would probably be the one to creep in and throw the grenades whilst Nathan and Hayden took the fugitives out from the rooftops of the compound, until she joined them and they finished the job together. They had been told not to kill the demigods -- unless seconds from death themselves -- but instead bring them back to Camp Half-Blood if they wanted to.
Hayden showed up a couple of minutes after Chiara. "Hey, man," she said with a nod of acknowledgement. Hayden saddled a palomino pegasus whilst Chiara's Apaloosa shifted underneath her, half-spreading his wings as if he knew what they were about to do. Honestly, when it came to going to a battle, Chiara's first choice was to take her Ducati. Arriving on ponies.... it generally didn't make people take you seriously. But her Ducati was loud and powerful, and that just wasn't the type of things you needed when you wanted to take someone by surprise.
