The shops weren't too interesting to Lucy today -- but then again, when did she ever like to go shopping? Biting back a yawn, she surveyed the area as she stood at a corner between a four-way intersection: a few restaurants there, coffee shop here, book shop right across the road with a toy shop next to it. Her mother would like this place; maybe she could visit one day... but then again, maybe not. Lucy didn't exactly know the policy for mortal parents visiting New Rome, but she was sure that they'd be fairly strict or just outright banned owing to recent events in the world of the gods.
But still. It was rare Lucy had so much free time that she could wander around here of all places and that she had enough money to go on a mini-shopping spree if she so wished. The duties to her cohort, to the Legion, took up so much of everyone's time that the daughter of Somnus had almost gotten used to it by now. Sure, she still did experience the drowsiness that came with her parentage, but it was generally understood by her fellow soldiers so long as she didn't fall asleep in the middle of duty or training or didn't happen to put other people to sleep by accident either. (Oh boy, all that reprimanding her first year in the legion? Not fun.) Scoffing to herself, she went over to the bookstore and sat down on a bench placed in front of it, folding her legs as she watched people go by, listened to children playing in the streets, shut her eyes and took a deep breath. Aah, yes, this was nice....
[ooc: I've little memory for what NR looks like or even what the Romans generally act like in the legion/army/whatever, so bear with me here.]
