Alone (OPEN)

Bri, Daughter of Aphrodite, was sitting at the end of the of Aphrodite table, away from her siblings as she picked at her orange chicken and rice, one of her favorite foods. Whenever her dad came home from a long days work and actually cared enough to eat with her, they would go out and get Chinese food. Even now that offered no comfort. Bri was frustrated. She didn't want the love goddess as a mom and she didn't want everyone to think she was some uptight mini model because of it.

Now she was sitting alone, cut off from everyone else as she glared around at nothing in particular, taking another bite of her food.

Oscar was fumbling with his cigarette lighter distractedly, flames going on and off. His beloved sketchbook was tucked securely under his freckled arm, wandering lazily into the Mess Hall. Clothed in jeans and a tattered white shirt, Oscars gaze landed on a young kid at the Aphrodite table, who was sitting away from her siblings. He watched her for a minute or so, then decided to attempt to make conversation or interaction.
Shuffling over, he felt his face burn, since he had no idea how to socialise well. Damn it.

Bri felt a presence as she looked up from her food to see a boy standing over her. His face was read and he didn't say a word.

"Uh," Bri started, unsure as she narrowed her eyes at the stranger. "Can I help you?" She arched an eyebrow.

Kellie stood at the opening of the mess hall, her mouth twisted to the side, which was her calculating expression. She gazed around the room, watching the scattered orange shirts around her. Nearly everyone was conversing, laughing, and having fun. The ones who weren't either had no one to talk to or didn't care for conversation. Kellie brushed some of her inky black hair out of her eyes, which were strangely two colors: A dark green and a dark blue.

She did not belong here.

Kellie, along with the rest of her small family, always knew she was special -- and not in a good way -- but gods and goddesses? Seriously? What did they take her for, a complete asylum-worthy freak without a brain? At first she didn't believe that any of this was real, that she was surrounded by twenty-first century hidden cameras and that'd she'd be the star of a prank show, like AFHV or something. Luckily she didn't choose assumptions as the truth so quickly because almost as soon as she got here she saw someone with goat legs canter passed her.

Kellie's Aunt Melody had told her things, explaining in that annoying baby voice like she wouldn't understand any other way. She told her about how her the Greek gods and goddesses were real and all that crazy stuff about minotaurs, labyrinths, sea monsters, and titans were the honest truth. Kellie just stared at her, wondering if they had accidentally thought about taken her to the asylum instead of this woman. But after seeing the thing that had brutally murdered her Aunt just the other day she wasn't surprised. She actually had laughed when it happened, but not for the reason you'd think.

Now she had to deal with some demigods, or whatever they called children of the divine. Really, Kellie would rather be back at home, studying math and history, all the stuff that mattered. And not fake history, either. That's what this camp was. But since she was forced to stay here, she'd rather be alone and not bothered. Most of the tables were taken so she'd only be able to sit at the table with some of the flashy, makeup-y girls who looked like the popular snobs at a typical high school. Not that Kelli would know. Her father had never allowed her to go to a regular school, only online and she'd only known about the cliques from books. That's all she did at home. The computer was restricted to educational websites only, except for YouTube, so she could only just get smarter. Not that she'd mind. Intelligence was one of the most important parts of being human; no wonder she'd gotten this far.

Kellie calmly walked over to the table, not looking at the girl and boy. She sat down and reached into her satchel, grabbing a random book and opening it; it was her favorite book: The Long History of Repitilia and their Part in History.

Jin sat in the mess hall, gazing into nothing as he sat alone at the hermes table, this was nothing new for him, and he knew it wouldn't change anytime soon. He wasn't too disturbed by this considering he did prefer to be alone, he knew he was anti social in alot of ways however once in a while he would have liked for someone to make an effort to get to know him.

He was greatful for the little mischief maker that was Dayami as she made his initial welcome enjoyable and even though he would never admit it, he enjoyed her company and considered her a great friend.

Blinking he regained his focus, only to see a guy maybe around his own age sketching into a book whilst absent mindely playing with a lighter. He looked over towards the aphrodite table causing Jin to look over as well before raising an eyebrow at what he saw. The boy had walked up towards a girl who had been sitting on her own but what made the scene slightly off was the fact that he hadnt spoken one word and seemed to be getting embarrassed if the red on his face was any indication.

Sighing to himself, Jin knew this would draw people's attentions towards the two and knowing the girls at the aphrodite cabin, they would be sure to spread some unsavoury rumours about the two. Sighing once more Jin closed his eyes cursing at himself for what he was about to do.

Getting off his seat discreetly, Jin walked towards the two of them before plopping down on the space beside the girl, "Hey, the names Jin Daniels. What's yours?" Jin said in his normal monotone voice but oyu could hear that it had a friendlier tone if you werre around him often.

Bri raised an eyebrow at the red face of the boy across from her as she looked over to see the new boy who just sat down besides her. His tone unnerved her slightly, making her shift in her seat so she was facing him. "Bri Jaspers. Can I help you?"

Bri acted defensive as she scanned the boy. She didn't like how people sat down and tried to talk to her. They were either there to hit on her or try to be her friend. Both of which she was less than interested in.

Seeing her reaction, Jin wasn't all that surprised as he would have acted even more hostile and a lot less politely if someone was to sit right beside him unexpectedly. Hearing the name, Jin committed it to memory before answering her question.

"Well no but I thought I'd introduce myself plus I just think I helped you in the long run as tomato over there," Jin said pointing to the embarrassed kid before continuing "Wasn't saying anything making it look like he was going to confess or something. And I'm sure I don't need to tell you how rumours spread quickly and how unsavoury some people can be. Jin stated looking at her through his thick eyelashes as he looked her straight in the eye before his eye flickered to the rest of the Aphrodite table indicating who he was commenting about.

Bri got what he was saying instantly and narrowed her eyes. If it was one thing she hated, it was when people assumed things about him since she was a daughter of Aphrodite. Her hostile-a-tude was suddenly yanked way up their on her hostile meter.

"And I'm sure you know that when someone annoys someone the first reaction is usually physical force, correct?" Bri asked with venom laced in her voice. "Just you know my mother doesn't mean you know anything about me, hot shot."

Raising an eyebrow at the hostility in her voice, Jin couldn't help but feel slightly amused at her words. "I think you misunderstood my words, I wasn't saying you were the same as some of the other siblings. What I said was that some of your siblings are rather vindictive in the way they spread rumours about, it really doesn't have anything to do with who your godly parent is." Jin said sounding slightly amused which was weird in itself as he still spoke in a monotone tone of voice

"And let's get one more thing straight I never claimed to know anything about you in the first place."

"Then you assumed I was like my siblings? Or else you would come to save this guy," Bri motioned to the boy standing silently in front of her. "And comparing me to my siblings isn't much better than comparing me to my mom. Now, is there something you have a dire need that is in a twenty foot radius of me or . . ." She droned on pointedly, glaring at him all the while.

Just looking at her rant, Jin kept quiet as she still misunderstood his intentions. Sighing he waited for her to finish before speaking.

"It seems that we are still on different pages, I wasn't nor did I assume that you were like your siblings, I came to help both of you, Jin said pointing at both her and the boy. You seemed like you were on your own so I assumed you were not on the best terms with your siblings, and with this kid coming over to you while blushing it seemed like a sure fire way for unsavoury comments so start." Jin said as he sighed once again. "Oh, and would you stop with your glaring your as threatening as a new born kitten."

"Everyone look, Bri has not one but two boyfriends!" A concert of giggles came from the middle of the table, where Cleopatra was sitting with her clique. "Well done sis, you're finally becoming one of us," she added with a sweet smile, as if she was genuinely happy about it.

Jin raised an eyebrow at the proclamation, before sighing for what seemed like the umpteemth time. "Really, dont want to say I told you so, but yeah I told you so." Jin told the girl beside him before he turned to the girl whom he recognised as Cleopatra. "Could you not spread rumours involving me please" Jin said to her with a harsh glare and a cold tone despite how polite his words sounded.

"Oh, but I'm not spreading any rumours!" Cleopatra assured him with an angel smile. "How long have you been together?"

"Are you mad she's seeing another boy than you?" her sister Daryl asked, glossy blonde hair falling over her shoulder.

Bri was having trouble holding two pairs of anger for two different people. One for the new guy who walked over to her and then insulted her and the second for her siblings.

"Kitten?" Bri muttered angrily to herself. "And you two can shut up! Don't you have some pink to put on or some make-up to organize?"

"Oh but you know us Briseis," Cleopatra smiled sarcastically, "on Wednesdays we wear pink, not Fridays. Right girls?"

Her clique giggled and chuckled, stealing glances at Bri to see if she'd gotten the joke. No one in the group really liked her. As soon as she had arrived she had acted superior to them, as if cabin 10 residents were all stupid by default.

Bri glared at them, moving farther off the edge of the table, in danger of falling off. She never found her siblings amusing and their stereotype was part of the problem that she was having. She never wanted to be a daughter of Aphrodite, nor wanted to act like one.

Bri, angry, yet not knowing what to say, turned away and angrily dug into her food.

Jin watched the interaction, Bri seemed to have with her siblings and was glad to know his assumption was indeed correct. Sighing once more, Jin turned to the girl who he assumed was the leader of the group.

Jin closed his eyes, inhaling deeply before exhaling, Jin could feel the negative emotions coming off everyone that was within ten feet of him. However Jin focused on the negative emotions that wafted off of Cleopatra. Manipulating them using his powers Jin wanted to teach her a lesson but wanted to do it in a way that wasn't noticeable. While he wasn't sure if it would work as it worked differently depending on the person he did it too, he still tried.

Lucien was following through with his normal routine. Sleep. Yeah... That is pretty much it. Except this time he decided to change it up a little. He fell asleep laying down on the Hermes table bench. Even though he could have sworn he fell asleep in his favourite hammock spot down by the lake, the bench works fine if you a practiced sleeper. Lucien is willing to bet that is was another one of the jokestars pranks that are constantly pulled on him, due to him being such an easy target.

Anyway, he was rudely awaken by some argueing off at the Aphrodite table. He slowly sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, squinting until he adjusted to the light. He turned his body around, now facing the Aphrodite table. "Hey can't a man get some sleep around here!" His voice was still coarse and crackling after just waken up, so he didn't sound threatening. "Those darn kids and there drama." He thought to himself as he couldn't help but smirk a little. He thought he sounded like a old person and just the thought of that was enough to make him stand up and stretch a little. He sat back down, and rather then going over there and probably causing more commotion, he decided to sit back down and see whether or not he could step in.

OOC: Jin, what is he doing to Cleopatra's feelings exactly? :)

OOC: Basically Jin is just making her feel gloomy. She views her saddest moments in a loop. However it can be stopped if she hass come to terms with what has happened or is hit with enough force to knock them out of the memory. One thing is that if she is feeling a large amount of negative emotions the memory has a worse effect after its done. For example if she were feeling jealous, hateful, anger or sadness then the memory produces a more negative effect afterwards.

BIC: Cleopatra kept glancing at Bri with a smirk, giggling with her squad and making jokes about her just loud enough for her to hear. After all, she was searching for it -- she acted like she thought she was special just for having different tastes than her cabin mates. Worse than that, she felt insulted to have them as her siblings, insulted that Aphrodite was her mother. Has anyone in your family ever acted like being related to you was an insult to them? Not a nice feeling, is it?
So Cleopatra was sitting with her crew, congratulating herself on giving Bri a taste of her own medicine when something odd happened. Her eyes fell on her plate, but all appetite was gone. Her smile slowly turned into a mask of puzzled hurt. Memories came back to her one by one, memories that had no place coming back to her here. They usually only happened at night, when no one was around to notice the rip in her facade, when she had no reputation to hold up or people to impress. They came back so fast she almost dropped her fork. She tried to smile at one of Kellie's jokes but her mouth would just not obey. Her breathing quickened. Her face went numb. Not here! Get a grip, quick!

Bri's anger was starting to grow. Not only were her cabin mates, frankly, annoying; they were also complete jerks. They all care about the same stuff, like twin dolls that just multiplied, but once they meet someone who was slightly different, they had to go on the offensive side. So what she didn't need a boyfriend? Or make-up and fancy clothes? They try to force it upon her, but she wasn't like them. She liked it that way.

"Can you too just shut up?" She snapped at one's stupid remark before she noticed Cleopatra seemed strange. Quiet and had a strange smile on her face as Bri narrowed her eyes at her sibling suspiciously.

For the first time in her life, she wished she was invisible. The daughter of Aphrodite hid her trembling hands under the table, trying as hard as she could to regain her composure. But feelings of misery and pain and hurt flooded through her head and if she hadn't regularly trained herself to hide her emotions at will, she would have started crying right there and then. What is happening to me? she thought, bewildered and confused.

"Cleo? Are you okay?" one of her sisters asked and she almost cussed. People are starting to notice.

With every shred of her emotional strength and self-control, she looked up and gave a shimmering smile. "You're so sweet. I think it's the jet lag, I feel like I'm gonna pass out."

Now, everyone at the Hypnos table could call bullsh!t on that, but Cleopatra promised herself that if any of them spoke up right now she would mess up their love lives for the next three generations. Getting to her feet with difficulty, she turned to apologize to Chiron. "I'm feeling really light-headed," she articulated. "Can I please go and lie down in my cabin?"

"Need company?" someone called as she left the Mess Hall, but she had no time for a stinging comeback. Right now she had to get her thoughts in order and understand why exactly this had started happening.
