    A Sense of Deja-Vu Empty A Sense of Deja-Vu

Post by Belle 5/2/2016, 6:19 pm

It had been awhile since Dominika had time to spend with Dimitri. Just them and no one else around. The ball had been a lovely evening back in New Zealand. It was highly too formal for the daughter of Jupiter. The dress and everything was too much, and Nika was almost positive that she wasn't going to wear another fancy dress like that until she got married. Even then people better not count on anything too fancy or over the top, because she'll likely go with something simple. It was a little odd for the thoughts of weddings to run through her mind, Nika never pegged herself to be the girl that would ever find someone let alone get married. Maybe it was a bit far off thinking and perhaps she still never would get married, but she did have a boyfriend, that was one of the first steps, wasn't it?

The two of them had agreed meeting at the hill. It was typically quiet and away from others. Nika had been there a little bit early, and she sat on the hill waiting for him to show up. She wanted to tell him about her holiday and the time she spent apart from him. She also wanted to hear more about what happened with him during that time.

Dimitri had practically been running to the top of Temple Hill, which in hindsight wasn't the greatest idea; you were supposed to be respectful considering it was home to many shrines to many gods. Dimitri generally stayed strictly neutral to the gods, and for that reason, didn't consider this to be an important place to practice submissive behavior. He'd spotted her where they first met, not far from Jupiter's temple. The hill was, as always, pretty barren, as people usually only visited it if they were making an offering to a god, usually their parent, Dimitri figured. There was no shrine standing for Cymopoleia anywhere in the world, as far as he knew, but he wouldn't visit it even if it had existed.

He approached her without wasting anytime; they'd basically broken down all of the standard social practices with each other anyway, there was no need to make greeting a process, especially when their little time together was so precious. Dimitri approached her and wrapped his arms around her in a hug. "I missed you, darlin'." Dimitri very rarely didn't use a person's full first name, it was a sign of respect, but he'd found himself referring to Dominika sometimes as 'darlin' in particular. Dimitri never really thought that it might be overstepping a line, considering they'd only been official for a short time.

He had missed her, after all. The demigod had a massive soft spot for the daughter of Jupiter, suffice to say, he adored her. Dimitri gently pecked her on the lips; since they'd officially gone steady it had been a habit that they'd accepted. "I'm glad things could be this way again. Even if you ain't in your cute dress." Dimitri smirked. He knew she wasn't a fan, but she just looked so precious at the ball. "How've you been? Tell me everythin'."

A Sense of Deja-Vu Empty Re: A Sense of Deja-Vu

Post by Belle 5/3/2016, 1:51 am

It was a minute that made it feel like an hour until he'd be there. Although it wasn't long until she could see him attempting to get up the hill as fast as he could. It wasn't long before he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. Nothing could stop the smile that was breaking out onto Dominika's face as he said he had missed her. He even called her darling, which in most cases was rare to even happen. The fact he hadn't used her full first name had created a warm feeling in her chest and she was honestly just so thrilled to have him with her right now.

Dimitri's company was always appreciated by the daughter of Jupiter and she had been waiting for this day for awhile now. She looked up to him so much and he really did inspire her to be better and to do better. For that she was very happy for.

It was finally a gentle kiss and Dimitri saying something about her cute dress that brought her out of her current thoughts,"Don't count on seeing that cute dress again. I don't like the pressures of looking nice like that constantly. Besides it's difficult to sometimes dance in a dress let alone if I had to fight in one." She said with a small shrug of her shoulders and soon he asked how she had been and to tell him everything.

It really had been awhile. "Well, not much happened leading up to Christmas, but I did go home over the holiday. Home, home. Russia home." She said starting out trying to make it very clear on where she had been. With a small sigh she continued, "Now, needn't interject until I say what I need to say. I know I should have told you, and I promise you now, I wasn't harmed or anything. I'm fine. I got to meet my little sister. She's about three I believe, she's absolutely adorable, and looks a lot like my mom and I." Nika said and all she could think about was whether or not that sick Tin of beans would try anything with her younger sister, his own daughter. She would murder the son of a b!tch herself.

"I swear, Dimitri, if he so much as hurts her, he's a dead man. He will not know what pain is until I get my hands on him. She's too precious and innocent for this world, and she deserves everything. If he takes that away from her, he's a dead man." She said on a bit of a rant and she just shook her head upset at the fact her mother was still with him.

"She's still with him you know. I tried to tell her to get out of it, but she has yet to try. Did you know, after about three to four years, she finally asked me if I told the truth about that vile man. She finally asked me what my side was. It shouldn't have taken her so long, but when she asked I just broke down. When I gave my answer this time, she believed me." Dominika's eyes filled with tears thinking about the late night talk she had with her mother. The liberating feeling tied to the whole night. Almost like the weight of the world being lifted off her shoulder for a little while.

"'Sagood reason. Still, you kinda have to deal with the pressure of lookin' nice all the time anyway, y'know, with a face like that." Dimitri knocked the tease in as early as he could. It wasn't usually in his skill set, but there were all sorts of things Dominika brought out in him that weren't part of his usual self. She had began to talk about going home to Russia, which had Dimitri curious immediately. He wondered why she hadn't told him, but then, maybe he wasn't even around at the time. For all anyone knew, he could have been dead for some time. He didn't hold it to her in the slightest.

Dimitri's arm gripped Dominika's shoulder, not tightly, but enough so that he was sure she knew this was important to him. "I know what you're sayin', it ain't no expression." Dimitri began. "I know that when you say you'll kill this... abomination, you mean it. I can see it, I know what that feels like." Dimitri wasn't sure this was something he should be sharing with her, it didn't seem like the thing that was meant to be discussed between anyone, even boyfriend to girlfriend. "Killin' a person changes everythin'. Sometimes I start thinkin' it's just the solution to a lotta things, 'cause it's easy to do." Dimitri confessed. It was dark and twisted of him. He'd never once acted on the instinct, but it had appeared ever since Truman when he'd had to deal with bad people.

He felt the gravity of the words he'd just said. He couldn't really believe they'd came from his mouth, but they had, and he'd meant them too. There was silence, at least from him, because for once, he wasn't feeling remorse. He didn't want Dominika to find a peace with killing too. He had, however, pulled her back in to hug her. "'Sokay, you can let it out." Dimitri told her. He'd seen the tears in her eyes when she talked about her mother believing her. He couldn't imagine his mom or dad doing anything so horrible to him, thinking he'd lie like that. "Maybe it ain't too late for her. Maybe she'll see things, see'em the way they are." The thought of anything happening to that little girl in Russia broke his heart. It wasn't just any little girl either, it was Dominika's baby sister.

"Oh stop it." Dominika said with a small laugh and shook her head a bit. "Since when did you get the ability to flirt?" She asked teasing him a little. She was seeing a whole new side of him right here in this moment. Ever since the ball he seemed to be a bit more flirty, and she was wondering where that was even coming from.

She managed to keep her tears in for the duration that he was talking. He spoke about how killing someone changed you. She knew that he had killed Truman, but she wasn't exactly sure how that would affect him. She had never been in his position and all she wanted to do was to be able to help him in some way.

Dominika wanted to say something about it, but what could she say? There wasn't anything she could say that would make that thought go away, and there wasn't much she could say to make it go away. All she could do was be there for him and comfort him when he needs it.

Nika was pulled back into another hug, by Dimitri, and he told her that she could let it out. She still did have the overwhelming feeling attached to her heart. Her emotions were running wild and she could feel the tears welling up again. Wiping the tears away she spoke, "One can hope. I think she's just scared and doesn't want to be alone." Nika just enjoyed the embrace she had with Dimitri. Before you would never think it was possible for her to have physical contact like this, she would have beat someone up for it, but now she genuinely enjoyed hugs from Dimitri.

    "How have you been?

"Guess I don't really consider flirtin'." Dimitri had a simple shrug at his response. "It ain't nothin' I'd say to a friend or a stranger. I don't really know nothin' 'bout flirtin'. But I know people just do it when they're interested. With you, I ain't just interested in you. We agreed that we had fellin's for one another. Y'know? I guess I consider it teasin'. You know I ain't very experienced with relationships and intimacy." Dimitri explained . It was a common social convention that people would flirt with someone who was appealing to them, which absolutely baffled him. What if someone was uncomfortable being approached like that? Yet, it was still so acceptable. Dimitri didn't judge, but the whole concept still baffled him.

The two were still embraced. "I'm sure your mother loves ya, Dominika." Dimitri said, though he was thinking Dominika might finally have the same sentiments. "Give her time. She'll make the right choice, and when that happens, he'll be alone again. Hopefully forever." Dimitri gave her one last grip on her shoulder before the contact broke.

"I've been livin'." Dimitri was hesitant to answer. He didn't have a strong ability in the field of lying, not at all. His entire life had felt different. "Things don't feel the same." Dimitri admitted to his girlfriend. Whether it was natural or a product of those around him, whether it was better or for worse, it was the reality he lived in. "It doesn't hurt like it did when it happened. Things are just dull now, and I mean everythin' is dull. Kinda feels like nothin' is real, like I'm just stuck in someone else's head, watchin' their life." It was the best way he could explain his emotions. It was almost like he didn't have them anymore.

Whether it was to change subjects or because he was curious, Dimitri asked a question. "Does your mom know 'bout me?"

Post by Belle 5/6/2016, 11:31 pm

Dominika nodded in understanding, as Dimitri explained he didn't consider it flirting. She could see where he was coming from, she wasn't even used to the whole realm of dating. The dos and the donts and whatever else went into handling a relationship. When you draw lines, if you draw lines or how many dates there should be and the whole likes of it. She was completely new to the whole thing, and it really was a new concept. "It's alright, I'm not very experienced in intimacy and relationships either. You're the first boyfriend I've ever had, and I really wouldn't have it any other way."

Dimitri was right about her mother though. She could tell her mother had been trying. She had gone through a lot and Nika would always be there for her mother. Especially since she was starting to wake up and see the world for what it was. Dominika wanted to see the best for her mother.

He began talking about himself. Her mood dropped a bit upon hearing what he had to say, but it was understandable. The way he described how things were for him, broke her heart a little. It had to be difficult to lose people you deeply cared about more so when they were your parents you loved dearly. Dominika hasn't lost people like that in her life. She wasn't able to, since her mother had been a coward for so long, her step father was a monster who in no way deserved that title, her real father was an utter as$. If she lost one of them she wouldn't feel remorse. Her mom however was slowly gaining a spot in her heart again.

"One day, you'll be in the drivers seat again and you'll be giving your life direction. Right now you get to be the passenger and watch the scenery. It's going to take time to heal completely, and I'm not even sure you will be able to, but you will be able to feel that things are real again." She said and gave him a peck on the lips and reached for his hand to hold it.

Soon the topic came to a change, and she looked at him and shook her head. "Well, I think I've mentioned you as one of the people I've gotten to know since I left home. I didn't go into detail about anything though. So she doesn't know a lot of you, just your name. I do want to tell her about you more in depth, and I will. I have to write to her soon anyways, thank her for the gift she gave me."

Post by Metilinos 5/6/2016, 11:59 pm

Dimitri was glad that Dominika had high hopes for his future. He, in his own rite, didn't have any expectations for the future. All he could hope for was that Dominika would continue to care for him like she had been. He had faith in her, that she truly loved him. He physically adored her, to the point where being apart from her for too long made his heart feel like it had been swallowed. He appreciated her so much, and he'd wished he'd had a way to show her that. His lips couldn't help but curl into a smirk when she gave him a peck. They kissed more and more often as time passed, despite how short they had been kissing in general.

He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, a sign that he was glad she was holding his hand. He entangled his fingers with her, and gave her an extra peck on the lips, and then yet another before he pulled back. "With you, I know I'll find a way to make things work." He told her. He wasn't sure when, or how, or even what things working exactly meant, but as long as Dominika was with him, he knew things couldn't get worse. "Sometimes I wonder how in the name've God you agreed to go steady with me. You're perfect." Dimitri said with a smile.

"I don't fault you." Dimitri said, he didn't want Dominika to feel guilty at all. "We were so foggy for so long. I'm just glad I know now, I'm yours." Dimitri was happy to have the title of not just her idiot, but also her boyfriend now. "What gifts did your mother get for you?" Dimitri asked. He couldn't help but be curious. Her and her mother didn't have much of a bond. He wondered how well she knew Dominika at this point.

"Nobody's perfect Dimitri." She said with a small chuckle and then heard him as he began to talk about them not being very clear. She knew how that felt as they both had just gone through the whole process together. Before she could say anything more though he asked about the gifts her mother gave her, and she smirked. "Well, she gave me self help books. I've read a few of them thus far.  They're interesting to say the least and for awhile I was into them, and for some reason I believed in them. I don't know why. Weak moment I guess. I haven't really been with it, recently."

Dimitri didn't attempt to argue with her over the meaning of perfection. They were likely on two very different pages, which was something that was happening alarmingly quickly. At least on this definition, it was something that made sense to disagree on, and Dimitri was grateful for that. It had bothered him that she was so secretive of their relationship, but he didn't fault her for it still. Dimitri rubbed his eyes, he wasn't a fan of everything that had happened. Even during the happier moments, there was too much to think about.

"Self help books?" Dimitri asked in a questioning tone. He'd never heard of such a thing. "I gotta imagine it's a book that promotes self-help. How does a book help you with that?" Dimitri asked. The concept didn't quite make sense to him; he was raised in a way that didn't support many psychological weaknesses. For Dimitri, the only path forward was to keep going, no matter how painful it was.

Dominika smiled a bit when he began to question what self help books were. It was adorable on how much Dimitri had never quite heard of before. In this case, it seemed he had a general grasp on the subject, but it was still endearing to see. She knew she was going to have to explain a bit, but remembering she had her bag with her she grabbed it and began to rummage through it until she found a classic.

Before she pulled it out, she looked over to him, "Okay, so basically anything you need help with, it's almost like a guide with steps on how to get there. For example, say you're really upset over a break-up or something like that, there might be a book that gives you steps to helping you rebound from it. They're a little silly, but some things seem interesting and worth a chance trying, I suppose. I read them out of respect for my mother." Nika said shrugging her shoulders and then pulled out the classic in her bag. 'Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude.' by Napoleon Hill. She handed the book to him so he could look at it to get a gist of what she meant, in case he was a hands on learner.

Dimitri took the book, and studied the cover as though it was some sort of ancient fossil. An eyebrow raised, while he tried to grasp the concept of the point of self-help books. He looked up briefly, and saw that Dominika's lips had slightly curved into a small smile. Dimitri let out a little chuckle. It was a good feeling to see his girlfriend, but it was a great feeling to see her smile, even if it was only a little. "You uh. You got somethin' on your lips..." Dimitri said. While he wasn't in the best place, he still had feelings for Dominika, ones that hadn't even been wounded, much less died.

Dimitri leaned in and pecked her lips with his own. "There'ya go." Dimitri said with a grin.

He returned to looking at the book, opening it up and skimming through the pages, picking up on some paragraphs. "Your happiness is determined by many factors, but a good portion of it is actually choice. Many philosophers and psychologists agree that as much as forty percent of your happiness is a choice. You should consider if you really spend your full forty percent on happiness or not." Dimitri quoted the book. His eyebrow raised again. "Guess it ain't a bad idea." He said, handing her the book back. "I gotta say, if my mom told me to read this, I'd do it in an instant. Gotta respect your mom." Dimitri had noticed she didn't refer to her birth mother as her mom, but rather as her mother. He wished she would wake up and take care of her daughter, and be a real parent. Then she would get the title that mother's deserved.

Dominika watched him take the book and she observed how it was slowly going through his brain. Just the same as any new concept would go through ones brain. You sit there think about it, and if you're given a hands on type of experience then it could make a full circle to someone getting it a bit more and being able to proceed form there.

She was caught off guard a little bit, when he mentioned that she had something on her lips. Part of her wished she was naive and was thoroughly surprised by what would happen next, but at the same time, that just wasn't who she was. When he kissed her, he pulled back with a grin. "Thank you, didn't think I'd ever get it with my own two hands or anything. A true gentleman." Nika said in a teasing manner and had her own grin placed on her face.

It was shortly after he returned to the book and he opened it up. Soon he read out a piece from the book. "Well, some of them are really dumb and cheesy, but some do have some truth to them. You have to be able to sift through the fluff and the bull crap." She said and grabbed the book back and placed it in her bag again.

"I think she's trying and that she regrets what she had done, but it still kind of hurts to see my little sister get the love, care, and understanding that I should have got. Some may see that as being selfish, but I can't help but feel upset over it. I'm glad she gets a better life than me, but it wont stop how I feel about it or how I still think it should have been me. Instead I got treated like an unwanted pest in their life." Nika said, just ranting a little bit. It wasn't usually what she did, but she couldn't help but go over how the situation made her feel. The daughter of Jupiter had to hold back tears and try to keep herself together.

Dimitri's grin remained plastered on his face for a time after he'd kissed her; it was hard not to have it. Still, an eyebrow raised again as she explained the inconsistency of a self-help book. "Well, that's kinda odd." He commented. He would have elaborated more, after all, why write a book and disguise little truth among an abundance of non-sense? He almost felt curious; was there a reason that they were written that way? However, he lost his focus on the subject when Dominika started talking about her mother.

"Hey." Dimitri said in a gentle whisper. His hand slowly lifted from his side, and it gently rested on Dominik'a cheek, after brushing just a little bit of her hair back. His other arm crept behind her back, as though they were hugging with just a little bit of distance between them. "It ain't too late." Dimitri whispered. "I know what happened. And I know you can't ever get rid of that, and above that, you can never get that time back. But your mother, she loves you, more than she could ever love him. You gotta believe that." Dimitri continued.

"How you got treated was just wrong. And no mother should ever be actin' that way to her child. But I know you're strong 'nough to get her passed this. And I will get you passed this."
